This study reports the morphological characteristics of anomalous variations in Global Navigation Satellite System Total Electron Content(GNSS-TEC) prior to the strong local earthquakes(EQ) that occurred during the period of *** have analyzed 20 earthquakes of magnitude m> 5.6.A statistical technique is implemented on the data of six GNSS stations located in Tashkent,Kitab,and maidanak in Uzbekistan,and Islamabad,multan,Quetta in *** results show continuous anomalous variations in TEC during 24 h befo re the occupancy of local *** is shown that the precursors before the occurrence of strong earthquakes,in particular of magnitude 5.7,7.7,7.5,7.8 and 7.3 are detected near Eastern Uzbekistan(26 may 2013),Southwestern Pakistan(24 September 2013),Hindukush region of Afghanistan(26 October 2015),and Central Nepal(25 April 2015) and(12 may 2015),*** ionospheric anomalies appearing before the strong earthquakes at six GNSS stations are registered in 14cases(70%) out of 20 selected *** is depicted that anomalies referred to as ionospheric precursors appeared about 1-7 days prior to the occurrence of strong earthquakes.

HCV genotype distribution and possible transmission risks in Lahore, Pakistan

AIm: To investigate the prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotypes and their association with possible transmission routes in the general population of Lahore, as the data exclusively related to this city is limited. mETHODS: Complete data regarding patient's history, possible route of infection and biochemical tests was collected from the public hospital for 1364 patients. SPSS version 16 windows software was used for data analysis by univariate and multivariate techniques. RESULTS: Age range ≤ 40 years showed high prevalence of HCV infection. HCV genotype 3a was dominant (55.9%), followed by 1a (23.6%), 4a (12.5%), 3b (3.2%), untypable (2.5%), 4b (1.2%) and mixed type (1.2%). Blood transfusion, dental surgery and barber shops were the main risk factors for HCV transmission. Genotype prevalence was independent of age (P = 0.971) and gender (P = 0.122) while risk factors showed a significant association with age (P = 0.000) and genotypes (P = 0.000). We observed an independent association of risk factors and genotype 3a, while patients with genotype 1 and 4 were mostly infected due to dental surgery blood transfusion and barber shops. Risk factors of intravenous drug use and sexual exposure were exclusively found in ≤ 40 years age group. CONCLUSION: An increase in genotypes 1a and 4a suggest migration of people, possibly from Balochistan and the northern war-zone area. Government should focus on public education regarding infection routes.

Augmentation cystoplasty in children with stages III and IV chronic kidney disease secondary to neurogenic bladder

Objective:This study examines the outcome of augmentation cystoplasty(AC)in children with stages III and IV chronic kidney disease(CKD)secondary to neurogenic bladder in which transplantation was not ***:Hospital records of all children with CKD stages III and IV who underwent AC between 2008 and 2017 were retrieved to study outcome and complications including estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR,National Kidney Foundation Calculator),somatic growth(percentiles,compared with population data),and febrile urinary tract infections(fUTIs)requiring *** analysis was performed using ***:AC was performed in 13 children with CKD stages III and IV(10 girls;median 8.0 years)with median follow-up of 51 *** had incontinence(10/13),reflux(7/13),and hydronephrosis(13/13)despite antimuscarinics and intermittent *** capacity was 74%of expected and median compliance was 5 mL/cm H20(inter-quartile range 4 mL/cm H20).All underwent ileocystoplasty(25 cm bowel).One each had nephrectomy and mitrofanoff *** had resolution of *** had acute kidney injury that *** eGFR at presentation(24 mL/min/1.73 m2)improved with conservative management alone(52 mL/min/1.73 m2,p=0.004).This improved further 1 year following AC(61 mL/min/1.73 m2,p=0.036)with stable function at 7 *** was improvement in somatic growth,hydronephrosis,and fUTI despite no ureteric ***:AC carries acceptable morbidity in children with CKD stages III and IV secondary to neurogenic *** is effective with improvements in continence,eGFR,somatic growth,and propensity for *** re-implantation might not be necessary.

Transfer of Heavy metals from Soils to Vegetables and Associated Human Health Risks at Selected Sites in Pakistan

Contamination of the food chain with heavy metals is considered as one of the major environmental pathways of human exposure to metals leading to potential health risks. This study aimed to investigate the concentrations of heavy metals such as copper （Cu）, zinc （Zn）, chromium （Cr）, nickel （Ni）, and manganese （mn） in agricultural soils and food crops （fruit, leaf, and root vegetables）, and their associated health risks to the local population in selected southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. The concentrations of the selected metals in soil varied over a wide range, in the following decreasing order： mn 〉 Zn 〉 Cr 〉 Ni 〉 Cu. The bioaccunmlation of metals in vegetables was within the permissible risk limits, except for Cr which showed higher contamination in all the tested food crops. The trend of metal transfer factors for different vegetables was in the order of Cu 〉 Ni 〉 Cr 〉 mn 〉 Zn, while the calculated daily intake of metals （DIm） in adults and children through consumption of food crops was in the decreasing order of mn 〉 Zn 〉 Ni 〉 Cr 〉 Cu. The health risk index （HRI） values for the heavy metals for both adults and children were less than 1. Therefore, no significant health risk is anticipated for the local consumers through ingestion of these food crops.

Neural machine Translation models with Attention-Based Dropout Layer

In bilingual translation,attention-based Neural machine Translation(NmT)models are used to achieve synchrony between input and output sequences and the notion of *** model has obtained state-of-the-art performance for several language ***,there has been little work exploring useful architectures for Urdu-to-English machine *** conducted extensive Urdu-to-English translation experiments using Long short-term memory(LSTm)/Bidirectional recurrent neural networks(Bi-RNN)/Statistical recurrent unit(SRU)/Gated recurrent unit(GRU)/Convolutional neural network(CNN)and *** results show that Bi-RNN and LSTm with attention mechanism trained iteratively,with a scalable data set,make precise predictions on unseen *** trained models yielded competitive results by achieving 62.6%and 61%accuracy and 49.67 and 47.14 BLEU scores,*** a qualitative perspective,the translation of the test sets was examined manually,and it was observed that trained models tend to produce repetitive output more *** attention score produced by Bi-RNN and LSTm produced clear alignment,while GRU showed incorrect translation for words,poor alignment and lack of a clear ***,we considered refining the attention-based models by defining an additional attention-based dropout *** dropout fixes alignment errors and minimizes translation errors at the word *** empirical demonstration and comparison with their counterparts,we found improvement in the quality of the resulting translation system and a decrease in the perplexity and over-translation *** ability of the proposed model was evaluated using Arabic-English and Persian-English datasets as *** empirically concluded that adding an attention-based dropout layer helps improve GRU,SRU,and Transformer translation and is considerably more efficient in translation quality and speed.
