Citrus peel is a major fruit waste generated during the processing of citrus fruits. We extracted and chemically characterised essential oil from four different species of citrus peel waste and evaluated its insecticidal, antioxidant and phytotoxic activities. GC-mS/mS characterisation revealed D-limonene as the major constituent of citrus peel waste essential oil. the essential oils from the four citrus peel wastes showed significant contact, fumigant and repellent activities against two key stored grain pests tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and Callosobruchus chinensis (L.). DPPH, ABtS, and FRAP assays revealed the antioxidant potential of the citrus peel waste essential oil. the essential oil did not affect the germination of wheat seeds and revealed the safety of essential oil to germinating seeds. Hence, the essential oil extracted from citrus peel waste can be valorised and utilised as a botanical insecticide against t. castaneum and C. chinensis .

this paper examines the transport analysis, including both heat transfer and mass transfer, in hybrid nanofluid flow containing gyrotactic microorganisms towards a curved oscillatory surface. the influence of magnetic fields is also inspected in terms of their physical characteristics. to depict the phenomena of transport, modified versions of both Fick's and Fourier's laws are used. Additionally, the characteristics of both heterogeneous and homogeneous chemical reactions are also incorporated. Utilizing a curvilinear coordinate system, the flow problem is formulated as partial differential equations(PDEs)for momentum, concentration, microorganism field, and energy. An analytical solution to the obtained flow equations is achieved utilizing the homotopy analysis method(HAm).the effects of significant flow parameters on the pressure and microorganism fields, velocity, oscillation velocity, concentration, and temperature distributions are shown via graphs. Furthermore, the variations in skin friction, mass transfer rate, heat transfer rate, and local motile number due to different involved parameters are presented in tables and are analyzed in detail. Graphical results indicate that the curves of velocity and temperature fields are enhanced as the values of the solid volume fraction variables *** is also verified that the concentration rate field decreases as the values of the homogeneous reaction strength parameter and the radius of curvature parameter increase, and it increases with the Schmidt number and the heterogeneous reaction strength *** outcomes show a favorable response of the motile number to advanced values of the Peclet number, the Schmidt number, the microorganism difference parameter, and the bio-convective Lewis number.

Samarium doped vertically aligned one dimensional ZnO nanorod（NR） arrays were grown by vapor phase transport（VPt） method through vapor solid（VS） growth process. Influence of different concentrations（0% to 8%） of Sm（all Sm contents in the paper are in mass fraction） on the ZnO NR arrays were investigated by X-ray diffraction（XRD）, field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEm）, photoluminescence（PL）, Raman spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry（VSm） techniques, respectively. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the ZnO NR arrays were perfectly oriented along（002） crystallographic orientation with wurtzite crystal structure. Photoluminescence results showed an increase in oxygen vacancies due to increase in Sm doping. m-H curves revealed enhanced ferromagnetic behavior, and the magnetic moment values were 0.45, 0.363, 1.694, 3.613 and 2.197 emu/cm^3 for（0–8%） Sm doped ZnO NR arrays respectively. the curve revealed that paramagnetic behavior was observed for undoped ZnO NR arrays and on increasing the Sm dopant to 4%, paramagnetic switched to ferromagnetic behavior.

traditionally, testosterone and estrogen have been considered to be male and female sex hormones, respectively. However, estradiol, the predominant form of estrogen, also plays a critical role in male sexual function. Estradiol in men is essential for modulating libido, erectile function, and spermatogenesis. Estrogen receptors, as well as aromatase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen, are abundant in brain, penis, and testis, organs important for sexual function. In the brain, estradiol synthesis is increased in areas related to sexual arousal. In addition, in the penis, estrogen receptors are found throughout the corpus cavernosum with high concentration around neurovascular bundles. Low testosterone and elevated estrogen increase the incidence of erectile dysfunction independently of one another. In the testes, spermatogenesis is modulated at every level by estrogen, starting with the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis, followed by the Leydig, Sertoli, and germ cells, and finishing with the ductal epithelium, epididymis, and mature sperm. Regulation of testicular cells by estradiol shows both an inhibitory and a stimulatory influence, indicating an intricate symphony of dose-dependent and temporally sensitive modulation. Our goal in this review is to elucidate the overall contribution of estradiol to male sexual function by looking at the hormone＇s effects on erectile function, spermatogenesis, and libido.

An increasing number of young and middle-aged men are seeking treatment for symptoms related to deficient levels of androgens （hypogonadism） including depression, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, and fatigue. the increase in prevalence of testosterone supplementation in general and anabolic steroid-induced hypogonadism specifically among younger athletes is creating a population of young men who are uniquely impacted by the testicular end-organ negative consequences of exogenous steroid use. Exogenous testosterone therapy can alter the natural regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis leading to impaired spermatoganesis with azoospermia being a serious possible result, thus rendering the individual infertile. For men of reproductive age who suffer from hypogonadal symptoms, preservation of fertility is an important aspect of their treatment paradigm. treatment with human chorionic gonadotropin （hCG） has shown the ability not only to reverse azoospermia brought on by testosterone supplementation therapy but also to help maintain elevated intratesticular testosterone levels. In addition, selective estrogen receptor modulators, often used with hCG have been shown both to elevate total testosterone levels and to maintain spermatogenesis in hypogonadal men.

Photocatalytic degradation of Bisphenol A （BPA）, a representative endocrine disruptor chemical, was carried out under irradiation of sunlight in the presence of CexZn1-xO nanophotocatalyst. Cerium （Ce） ions were successfully incorporated into the bulk lattice of ZnO by simple co-precipitation process. the CexZn1-xO composite nanostructures exhibited higher photocatalytic efficiency than pure ZnO in the degradation of BPA under sunlight irradiation and nearly complete mineralization of BPA was achieved. the degradation rate was strongly dependent on factors such as the size and structure of catalyst, doping material concentration, BPA concentration, catalyst load, irradiation time and pH levels. this work suggested that the CexZn1-xO assisted photocatalytic degradation is a versatile, economic, environmentally benign and efficient method for BPA removal in the aqueous environment.

this work deals with the development of a decentralized optimal control algorithm, along with a robust observer,for the relative motion control of spacecraft in leader-follower based formation. An adaptive gain higher order sliding mode observer has been proposed to estimate the velocity as well as unmeasured disturbances from the noisy position measurements.A differentiator structure containing the Lipschitz constant and Lebesgue measurable control input, is utilized for obtaining the estimates. Adaptive tuning algorithms are derived based on Lyapunov stability theory, for updating the observer gains,which will give enough flexibility in the choice of initial ***, it may help to cope with unexpected state jerks. the trajectory tracking problem is formulated as a finite horizon optimal control problem, which is solved online. the control constraints are incorporated by using a nonquadratic performance functional. An adaptive update law has been derived for tuning the step size in the optimization algorithm, which may help to improve the convergence speed. moreover, it is an attractive alternative to the heuristic choice of step size for diverse operating conditions. the disturbance as well as state estimates from the higher order sliding mode observer are utilized by the plant output prediction model, which will improve the overall performance of the controller. the nonlinear dynamics defined in leader fixed Euler-Hill frame has been considered for the present work and the reference trajectories are generated using Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire equations of unperturbed motion. the simulation results based on rigorous perturbation analysis are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach.

In the search for sustainability,Sri Lanka like most countries has been looking at modern and new materials and technologies as much as at the indigenous *** having possessed a resourceful repository of traditional technologies and practices,their reinventions,however,have remained somewhat *** stems partly from the absence of focused research as well as sponsored or recognized programs to promote and experiment with the new possibilities of their applications in modern *** Lanka’s traditional architecture has been extensively studied,and there exists much literature on the art and construction of the ***,a greater focus has been on recording the variety of their spatial patterns together with the architectural compositions and appearances of buildings and their architectural details(De Vos 1988;De Silva 1990;Lewcock et al.2002).While De Vos and De Silva have constructed a set of patterns of traditional Sri Lankan houses in settlements,Lewcock et *** traversed the entire range of traditional settlements and buildings and particularly their architectural *** has often highlighted the marvel of timber architecture(1984),while many archeologists have discussed the structures and constructions of buildings in the context of the history and archeology of Sri Lanka’s ancient *** contrast,Dayaratne(1999,2000,2003,2007)shows how its indigenous architecture has been inherently sustainable and how some of the modern architects have employed their principles in creating architecture that is appropriate to culture and kinder to the *** paper provides a general introduction to the traditional materials of Sri Lanka and examines in detail how earth architecture has been revitalized as a sustainable approach to building.

Crushing and embedment of proppant packs under cyclic loading: An insight to enhanced unconventional oil/gas recovery

Crushing and embedment are two critical downhole proppant degradation mechanisms that lead to a significant drop in production outputs in unconventional oil/gas stimulation projects. these persistent production drops due to the non-linear responses of proppants under reservoir conditions put the future utilization of such advanced stimulation techniques in unconventional energy extraction in doubt. the aim of this study is to address these issues by conducting a comprehensive experimental approach. According to the results, whatever the type of proppant, all proppant packs tend to undergo significant plastic deformation under the first loading ***, the utilization of ceramic proppants(which retain proppant pack porosity up to 75%), larger proppant sizes(which retain proppant pack porosity up to 15.2%) and higher proppant concentrations(which retain proppant pack porosity up to 29.5%) in the fracturing stimulations with higher in-situ stresses are recommended to de-escalate the critical consequences of crushing associated issues. Similarly, the selection of resin-coated proppants over ceramic and sand proppants may benefit in terms of obtaining reduced proppant *** addition, selection of smaller proppant sizes and higher proppant concentrations are suggested for stimulation projects at depth with sedimentary formations and lower in-situ stresses where proppant embedment predominates. Furthermore, correlation between proppant embedment with repetitive loading cycles was ***, microstructural analysis of the proppant-embedded siltstone rock samples revealed that the initiation of secondary induced fractures. Finally, the findings of this study can greatly contribute to accurately select optimum proppant properties(proppant type, size and concentration) depending on the oil/gas reservoir characteristics to minimize proppant crushing and embedment effects.

From modern urban perspectives, indigenous housing practices are regarded as undeveloped, backward, and require improvements. they may be valid for measuring on the basis of standards alien to the communities. However, these perceptions have obfuscated the appreciation and potential adoption of hotistic, culturally relevant, and traditionally tested approaches to planning and housing that have sustained communities for centuries. Sri Lankan indigenous settlements have been founded on principles and understanding acquired through the wisdom of Buddhism. For the Sri Lankan indigenous, sustainability has been an intrinsic accompaniment to everyday life, unlike articulated modern discourses. However, these traditions exert minimal benefits to recent housing practices, and researchers are Looking etsewhere to develop mechanisms to infuse sustainability as a recently discovered issue of significance. the present study examines the principles underlying several indigenous settlements in Sri Lanka through dose observations supported by documented evidence and demonstrates their validity and appropriateness for contemporary planning practices. this study argues that approaches to sustainabitity shoutd be generated hotisticatty from within rather than from the outside and offers several propositions that can redirect the contemporary housing and planning practices.
