Beneficial horticultural responses from the application of solar thermotherapy to mature Huanglongbing-affected citrus trees

The detrimental effects of Huanglongbing(HLB)on citrus are well known and so is the need for effective methods to combat this *** thermotherapy(sT),one of the management methods to help alleviate some of the negative effects of HLB,is the process of heating trees to therapeutic temperatures by encompassing the tree within a plastic structure(Visqueen)to harness the sun’s natural *** was applied to mature‘Valencia’citrus trees in three *** vigor,yield,and Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus(Las)titer in leaves were monitored for two consecutive seasons post sT treatment,while fruit and juice quality were evaluated at the end of the second *** promoted an increase in canopy density in most groves tested and did not have a significant effect on fruit quantity,despite the prolonged exposure of the trees to increased ***,Las titer was reduced in both leaves and juice processed from affected trees post *** respect to fruit quality,the ratio of total soluble solids to titratable acidity was higher post sT compared to controls as was the sucrose content of the juice in most treated groves,whereas limonin was higher in juice from control *** components analysis of aroma volatiles showed significant differences between juice from treated versus control trees with volatiles imparting top-note and freshness to orange juice,such as acetaldehyde,hexanal,Z-3-hexenol and linalool,being higher in juice fromtreated *** panels confirmed that flavor differences existed,ultimately showing that sT resulted in improved juice flavor in well-managed *** the effects of sT on the trees appear temporary,such outcomes emphasize its utility when used as part of an integrated management strategy for HLB-affected citrus,imparting beneficial horticultural responses with minimal to positive effects on subsequent juice flavor.

Holmium Oxide Film as a saturable Absorber for 2μm Q-switched Fiber Laser

This work reports on the use of the holmium oxide （Ho2O3） polymer film as a saturable absorber （sA） for generating stable Q-switching pulses operating in a 2μm region in a thulium-doped fiber laser cavity. The sA is prepared by diluting a commercial Ho3O2 powder and then mixing it with polyvinyI alcohol （PVA） solution to form a Ho2O3-PVA film. A tiny part of the film about 1mm×1 mm in size is sandwiched between two fiber ferrules with the help of index matching gel. When incorporated in a laser cavity driven by a 1552-nm pump, stable Q-switching pulses are observed at 1955nm within the pump power range of 363 491 roW. As the pmnp power increases within this range, the repetition rate rises from 26 kHz to 39 kHz, as the pulse width drops from 4.22μs to 2.57μs. The laser operates with a signal-to-noise ratio of 47dB, and the maximum output power and the pulse energy obtained are 2.67mW and 69ng, respectively. Our results successfully demonstrate that the Ho2O3 film can be used as a passive sA to generate a 2μm pulse laser.

Dynamic modeling of a three-dimensional braided composite thin plate considering braiding directions

Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D) braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper, a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established. Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed. By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications.

Analytical study of Cattaneo–Christov heat flux model for a boundary layer flow of Oldroyd-B fluid

We investigate the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model for a two-dimensional laminar boundary layer flow of an incompressible Oldroyd-B fluid over a linearly stretching sheet. mathematical formulation of the boundary layer problems is given. The nonlinear partial differential equations are converted into the ordinary differential equations using similarity transformatioris. The dimensionless velocity and temperature profiles are obtained through optimal homotopy analysis method （OHAm）. The influences of the physical parameters on the velocity and the temperature are pointed out. The results show that the temperature and the thermal boundary layer thickness are smaller in the Cattaneo-Christov heat flux model than those in the Fourier＇s law of heat conduction.

As-Cast Acicular Ductile Aluminum Cast Iron

The effects of nickel （2.2 %） and molybdenum （0.6 % ） additions on the kinetics, microstrueture, and mechanical properties of ductile aluminum cast iron were studied under the as-cast and tempered conditions. Test bars machined from cast to size samples were used for mechanical and metallurgical studies. The results showed that adding nickel and molybdenum to the base iron produced an upper bainitic structure, resulting in an increase in strength and hardness. The same trend was shown when the test bars were tempered at 300 ℃in the range of 300 ℃ to 400 ℃. The elongation increased with increasing the temperature from 300 ℃ to 400 ℃. The carbon content of the retained austenite also increased with increasing the temperature. The results also showed that the kinetics, microstructure, and mechanical properties of this iron were similar to those of Ni-mo alloyed silicon ductile iron.

Head-on collision between single-and multi-soliton heavy ion acoustic waves in multi-ion plasmas

Head-on collisions among the single-and multi-soliton’s heavy ion acoustic waves(HIAWs) of multi-ion plasma are studied. The plasma consists of adiabatic positively charged inertial heavy ions, Boltzmann energy distributed light ions and kappa energy distributed electrons. The extended poincaré-Lighthill-Kuo(e PLK) method is applied for the derivation of two-sided Korteweg–de Vries(KdV) equations(KdVEs). The KdV single-soliton solutions(KdVsss) are determined using the hyperbolic secant method and the KdV multi-soliton solutions(KdVmss)are obtained using the Hirota method. The effects of superthermality of electrons, temperature ratios of electron to light ion and heavy ion to electron, and the density ratio of electron to heavy ion on phase shifts are investigated for the head-on collisions between two-soliton HIAWs. The effects of plasma parameters on angular frequency, phase speed, production of multi-soliton structures, and the head-on collisions among single-, double-, triple-, quadruple-, and quintuplesolitons are also studied.

Blood as a fluid that human and other living creatures are dependent on has been always considered by scientists and *** changes in blood pressure and its normal velocity can be a sign of a *** significant in blood fluid＇s mechanics is Constitutive equations and finding some relations for analysis and description of drag,velocity and periodic blood pressure in *** this paper,by considering available experimental quantities,for blood pressure and velocity in periodic time of a thigh artery of a living dog,at first it is written into Fourier series,then by solving Navier-stokes equations,a relation for curve drawing of vessel blood pressure with rigid wall is *** in another part of this paper,vessel wall is taken in to consideration that vessel wall is elastic and its pressure and velocity are written into complex Fourier *** this case,by solving Navier-stokes equations,some relations for blood velocity,viscous drag on vessel wall and blood pressure are *** this study by noting that vessel diameter is almost is large（3.7 mm）,and blood is considered as a Newtonian ***,available experimental quantities of pressure with obtained curve of solving Navier-stokes equations are *** blood analysis in rigid vessel,existence of 48% variance in pressure curve systole peak caused vessel blood flow analysis with elastic wall,results in new relations for blood flow *** Resultant curve is obtained from new relations holding 10% variance in systole peak.

Analysis of mode Ⅲ crack perpendicular to the interface between two dissimilar strips

The present work is concerned with the problem of mode Ⅲ crack perpendicular to the interface of a bi-strip composite. One of these strips is made of a functionally graded material and the other of an isotropic material, which contains an edge crack perpendicular to and terminating at the interface. Fourier transforms and asymptotic analysis are employed to reduce the problem to a singular integral equation which is numerically solved using Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature formulae. Furthermore, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of elastic and geometric characteristics of the composite on the values of stress intensity factor.

The brain's extracellular matrix(ECm),which is comprised of protein and glycosaminoglycan(GAG)scaffolds,constitutes 20%-40% of the human brain and is considered one of the largest influencers on brain cell functioning(soles et al.,2023).synthesized by neural and glial cells,the brain's ECm regulates a myriad of homeostatic cellular processes,including neuronal plasticity and firing(miyata et al.,2012),cation buffering(moraws ki et al.,2015),and glia-neuron interactions(Anderson et al.,2016).Considering the diversity of functions,dynamic remodeling of the brain's ECm indicates that this understudied medium is an active participant in both normal physiology and neurological diseases.
