Determination of nutritional requirements is the basis for diet formulation. The objectives of this study were to determine the net energy requirements for maintenance （NEro） and weight gain （NEg） in Nellore bulls during the growing and finishing phases, and to estimate efficiency of metabolizable energy （mE） utilization for maintenance and gain （km, kg）. Five Nellore bulls were housed in individual pens at the Universidade Federal de minas Gerais （Belo Horizonte, Brazil） and evaluated over four experimental periods at 210, 315,378 and 454 kg shrunk body weight （SBW）, approximately. During each period, heat production （HP） was quantified by open circuit indirect calorimetry for three feeding levels： ad libitum, restricted and fasting. The NEm requirement was determined by linear regression between the Log of HP andthe mE intake （mEI） for the ad libitum and restricted levels. This requirement was also determined by quantifying fasting heat production （FHP）. The NEQ requirement was calculated by the difference between mEI and HP during ad libitum feeding. The k and kg were calculated by the relationship between net energy （NE） and mE requirements for maintenance and weight gain （mEm, mEp）, respectively. The NEm requirements per kg of metabolic empty body weight （EBW0.75） fluctuated between 348 and 517 kJ d-1, showing a decreasing trend with age, and were higher than the values reported in the literature. The NEg requirements ranged between 48.3 and 164 kJ kg-1 EBW0.75 d-1, and varied according to age and weight gain. The k values varied between 58.6 and 69.7%, while kg varied between 23.4 and 40.2%. We concluded that NEm and NEg requirements were influenced by age and possibly by the level of stress, nervousness and activity of animals into the respirometry chamber. Further studies should quantify HP with records of positional changes （time spent standing vs. lying down）. Simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice forinsulin-dependent diabetes that associates end-stage diabetic nephropathy, sinceit achieves not only a clear improvement in the quality of life, but also provides along-term survival advantage over isolated kidney transplant. However, pancreastransplantation still has the highest rate of surgical complications among organtransplants. more than 70% of early graft losses are attributed to technical failures,that is, to a non-immunological cause. The so-called technical failures includegraft thrombosis, bleeding, infection, pancreatitis, anastomotic leak and pancreaticfistula. Pancreatic graft thrombosis leads these technical complications as the mostfrequent cause of early graft loss. Currently most recipients receive postoperativeanticoagulation with the aim of reducing the rate of thrombosis. Hemoperitoneumin the early postoperative period is a frequent cause of relaparotomy, but it is notusually associated with graft loss. The incidence of hemoperitoneum is clearlyrelated to the use of anticoagulation in the postoperative period. Post-transplantpancreatitis is another cause of early postoperative complications, less frequentthan the previous. In this review, we analyze the most common surgicalcomplications that determine pancreatic graft losses.

Phasor measurement units(PmUs)are fundamental tools in the applications of modern power systems,where synchronized phasor estimations are *** accuracy and dynamic performance requirements for phasor,frequency,and rate of change of frequency(ROCOF)estimations are established in the IEEE Std.C37.118.1-2011 along with the IEEE Std.C37.118.1 a-2014,where two PmU performances are suggested:P class filters for applications requiring fast response and m class filters for applications requiring high rejection to aliased *** this paper,a methodology to design new phasor estimators that satisfy the P class and m class requirements in PmUs is *** proposed methodology is based on finite impulse response filters,brick-wall filters,and complex filter design concepts,where frequency range,time performance,harmonic rejection and out-of-band interference requirements are considered in its design.A comparative analysis using the reference model given by the IEEE Std.C37.118.1 is *** results show the effectiveness of the phasor estimators under steady-state and dynamic conditions according to the PmU standard,making them suitable tools for applications in power systems.

Background:Emerging research supports the idea that exercise positively affects ***,the mechanisms linking exercise with brain health are largely *** aimed to investigate the effect of exercise on(a)blood biomarkers selected based on previous evidence(brainderived neurotrophic factor,β-hydroxybutyrate(BHB),cathepsin B(CTSB),kynurenine,fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21),soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(sVCAm-1));and(b)a panel of 92 neurology-related proteins(discovery analysis).We also investigated whether changes in these biomarkers mediate the effects of exercise on brain health(hippocampal structure and function,cognitive performance,and mental health).methods:We randomized 81 overweight/obese children(10.1±1.1 years,41%girls)into 2 groups:either 20 weeks of aerobic plus resistance exercise or *** biomarkers were assessed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)for kynurenine,FGF21,and CTSB;colorimetry forβ-hydroxybutyrate;and Xmap for brain-derived neurotrophic factor and soluble vascular cell adhesion ***92 neurology-related proteins were analyzed by an antibody-based proteomic ***:Our intervention had no significant effect on candidate biomarkers(all p>0.05).In the discovery analysis,a reduction in circulating macrophage scavenger receptor type-I was observed(standardized differences between groups=-0.3,p=0.001).This effect was validated using ELISA methods(standardized difference=-0.3,p=0.01).None of the biomarkers mediated the effects of exercise on brain ***:Our study does not support a chronic effect of exercise on candidate *** observed that while chronic exercise reduced the levels of macrophage scavenger receptor type-Ⅰ,it did not mediate the effects of exercise on brain *** studies should explore the implications of this novel biomarker for overall health.

Objectives: We investigated pharmacokinetic tissue distributions of Levofloxacin to explain adverse tendon incidents. methods: The pharmacokinetic profiles of single and multiple dosing of 500 mg Levofloxacin following oral and IV infusion administration were simulated. monte Carlo simulation was used to simulate the drug concentration profiles in plasma and tissue after seven dosing regimens while varying the drug’s elimination and distribution rates to analyze the effects of changing those rates on Levofloxacin accumulation in tissue. Results: Simulated data following oral and IV administration reflect well the reported data (mean simulated plasma Cmax = 6.59 μg/mL and 5.19 μg/mL for IV and oral versus 6.4 μg/mL and 5.2 μg/mL for observed clinical IV and oral route, respectively). Simulations of seven repetitive doses are also in agreement with reported values. Low elimination rates affect the drug concentration in plasma and tissue significantly with the concentration in plasma rising to 35 μg/mL at day 7. Normal elimination rates together with escalation of distribution rates from plasma to tissue increase tissue concentration after 7 doses to 9.5 μg/mL, a value is more than twice that of normal. Conclusions: Simulation can be used to evaluate drug concentration in different tissues. The unexpectedly high concentrations in some cases may explain the reason for tendinopathy in clinical settings.

Colorectal cancer(CRC) is among the most prevalent and deadly neoplasms worldwide. According to GLOBOCAN predictions, its incidence will increase from 1.15 million CRC cases in 2020 to 1.92 million cases in 2040. Therefore, a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in CRC development is necessary to improve strategies focused on reducing the incidence, prevalence,and mortality of this oncological pathology. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy are the main strategies for treating CRC. The conventional chemotherapeutic agent utilized throughout the last four decades is 5-fluorouracil, notwithstanding its low efficiency as a single therapy. In contrast, combining 5-fluorouracil therapy with leucovorin and oxaliplatin or irinotecan increases its efficiency. However, these treatments have limited and temporary solutions and aggressive side effects. Additionally, most patients treated with these regimens develop drug resistance, which leads to disease progression. The immune response is considered a hallmark of cancer;thus, the use of new strategies and methodologies involving immune molecules, cells, and transcription factors has been suggested for CRC patients diagnosed in stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ. Despite the critical advances in immunotherapy, the development and impact of immune checkpoint inhibitors on CRC is still under investigation because less than 25% of CRC patients display an increased 5-year survival. The causes of CRC are diverse and include modifiable environmental factors(smoking, diet, obesity, and alcoholism), individual genetic mutations, and inflammation-associated bowel diseases. Due to these diverse causes, the solutions likely cannot be generalized. Interestingly, new strategies, such as single-cell multiomics, proteomics, genomics, flow cytometry, and massive sequencing for tumor microenvironment analysis, are beginning to clarify the way forward.
