The coefficient of friction(COF)is one of the most important parameters to evaluate the performance of a brake *** design proper brake systems,it is important to know the COF when estimating the brake force and resulting *** is challenging to simulate the COF since friction in disc brakes is a complex phenomenon that depends on several parameters such as sliding velocity,contact pressure,materials,and temperatures,*** is a lack of studies found in the literature focusing on simulation of the COF for a full brake system based on tribometer material *** aim of this work is therefore to investigate the possibility to use a finite element analysis(FEA)approach combined with a COF pv-map to compute the global COF of a disc brake *** local COF is determined from a pv-map for each local sliding velocity and contact pressure determined by the *** the local COF,the braking force of the entire brake system and the global COF can be *** obtained by the simulation are compared with dyno bench test of the same brake system to investigate the validity of the simulation *** show that the simulation is perfectly in line with the experimental measurements in terms of in-stop COF development,but slightly higher with a positive offset for every braking.

Background:Contralateral delayed endolymphatic hydrops(CDEH)is a clinical entity characterized by fluctuating low frequency hearing loss and/or vertigo,mimicking meniere’s disease(mD),that manifests after the appearance of severe non-hydropic hearing loss(NHHL)at the other ***:to describe the clinical features and the course of 57 patients affected by ***:this is a retrospective study;57 patients affected by CDEH,out of 1065 patients seen in the same period and affected by mD,were subjected to otoscopy,PTA threshold evaluation,impedance testing,ABR,research of positioning nystagmus,vestibular function evaluated by means of bithermal caloric test under video-oculographic,and mRI with ***:the CDEH was definite in 24 cases(42%),probable in 2(4%)and possible in 31(54%).The mean PTA threshold at the hydropic ear was 41 *** the last follow-up,40 patients(70%)did not report vertigo or fluctuating hearing *** the 17 patients who still reported symptomatology,11(64%)were affected by fluctuating hearing loss alone,4(23%)reported a subjective worsening of hearing loss and 2(12%)an acute vertigo ***:contralateral delayed endolymphatic hydrops is a relatively rare form of meniere disease that manifests more frequently as a definite form or with fluctuating low-frequency hearing *** prognosis at a long term follow-up is relatively good in terms of vertigo *** delayed endolymphatic hydrops rarely determines a severe hearing loss in the better ear.

西班牙制革厂的废水，经处理后仍有可吸附的有机氯化物，因此促使我们去调查，在鞣制过程中哪一工序是污染源。加脂时应用的助剂含有机氯化物，似为主要的来源，但在其他生产过程的废水中，也发现有较多的有机氯化物，而且综合废水经处理后，仍不能完全去除，这些有机氯化物（AOX）的来源不清楚。本研究主要目的是测定鞣制各生产过程中，废水AOX含量及其他理化参数，以此表达各自的特征。结果发现，加脂、鞣制及浸酸液是AOX的主要来源。

Background: Diffusion-tensor (DT) magnetic resonance imaging (mRI) has the po tential to elucidate some characteristics of tissue microstructure inaccessible to other mRI techniques. Objective: To investigate whether normal-appearing bra in tissue abnormalities occur in patients with multiple sclerosis at the earlies t clinical stage and whether their severity is predictive of a short-term disea se evolution by using DT mRI. Design: Forty-five patients and 22 healthy contro l subjects were studied. All patients had had a clinically isolated syndrome wit hin the 3 months preceding study enrollment and paraclinical evidence of disease dissemination in space. During a single session, dual-echo, pulsed-gradient s pin-echo echo-planar, and postgadolinium T1-weighted images of the brain were obtained from each subject. In patients, dual-echo and enhanced images were ob tained after 3 and 12 months, to detect mRI signs of disease dissemination in ti me. An on-study neurological examination was also conducted to ascertain the oc currence of clinical relapses. mean diffusivity and fractional anisotropy maps w ere derived from DT images. Normal-appearing white matter (N-AWm) and normal- appearing gray matter mean diffusivity and fractional anisotropy histograms were produced and analyzed. Results: During the study period, 29 patients showed mRI evidence of disease dissemination in time. When compared with healthy controls, patients showed higher average NAWm mean diffusivity (P=.01), lower average NAW m mean diffusivity peak height (P mRI characteristics of patients did not differ between those with and those without disease dissemina tion in time at follow-up. Conclusions: In patients with multiple sclerosis at the earliest clinical stage, the severity of NAWm damage does not predict new le sion formation in the short term, suggesting that the “diffuse”component of ti ssue damage is, at least partially, independent of the

AIm: To establish if a distinct urinary metabolic profile could be identified in Bangladeshi hepatitis-B hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients compared to cirrhosis patients and controls. mETHODS: Urine samples from 42 Bangladeshi patients with HCC(39 patients with hepatitis-B HCC), 47 with cirrhosis on a background of hepatitis B, 46 with chronic hepatitis B, and seven ethnically-matched healthy controls were analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance(NmR) spectroscopy. A full dietary and medication history was recorded for each subject. The urinary NmR data were analyzed using principal component analysis(PCA) and orthogonal partial leastsquared discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) techniques. Differences in relative signal levels of the most discriminatory metabolites identified by PCA and OPLSDA were compared between subject groups using an independent samples Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) test with all pairwise multiple comparisons. Within the patient subgroups, the mannWhitney U test was used to compare metabolite levels depending on hepatitis B e-antigen(HBe Ag) status and treatment with anti-viral therapy. A BenjaminiHochberg adjustment was applied to acquire the level of significance for multiple testing, with a declared level of statistical significance of P mass index(P m alanine aminotransferase(ALT) was significantly higher in the HCC group compared to controls(P m α-fetoprotein was generally markedly elevated in HCC compared to controls; and serum creatinine levels were significantly reduced in the HCC group compared to the cirrhosis group(P = 0.004). AIm:To assess a relationship between longitudinal changes in liver fat content and biochemical parameters in obese children after 1-year nutritional ***:Forty-six obese children, 21 males and 25females, aged 6-14 years, underwent metabolic measurements, liver ultrasonography(US) and chemicalshift magnetic resonance imaging(mRI) examinations at baseline and after 1-year nutritional intervention. A child was defined obese if her/his body mass index(BmI)was above the age- and sex-adjusted BmI Cole's curve passing through the cut-off of 30 kg/m2 at 18 *** Z scores were calculated and adjusted for age and gender by using the Cole's LmS-method and Italian reference data. Biochemistry included serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST). Abdominal US and chemical-shift mRI were performed according to a randomized *** same radiologist performed US by a GE Logiq 9(General Electric Healthcare medical Systems, milwaukee, WI, United States) using a 3.5-mHz convex array transducer. Liver echogenicity was evaluated independently on videotape by 3 radiologists unaware of the child and mRI outcomes, and a consensus was established. Another experienced radiologist, unaware of the child and US data, performed the abdominal chemicalshift mRI with a 1-t system NT-Intera(Philips medical Systems, Best, The Netherlands) and a phased-array coil. Liver fat fraction(FF) on mRI was judged elevated when greater than 9%. A FF>18% was considered expressing more severe cases of fatty liver according to Fishbein.
