Empirical model for bio-extraction of copper from low grade ore using response surface methodology

The copper extraction in shaking bioreactors was modeled and optimized using response surface methodology（RSm）. Influential parameters in the mesophilic bioleaching process of a low-grade copper ore including p H value, pulp density, and initial concentration of ferrous ions were comprehensively studied. The effect of leaching time on the response（copper extraction） at the 1st, 4th, 9th, 14 th and 22 nd days of treatment was modeled and examined. The central composite design methodology（CCD） was used as the design matrix to predict the optimal level of these parameters. Then, the model equation at the 22 nd day was optimized using the quadratic programming（QP） to maximize the total copper extraction within the studied experimental range. Under the optimal condition（initial p H value of 2.0, pulp density of 1.59%, and initial concentration of ferrous ions of 0 g/L）, the total copper extraction predicted by the model is 85.98% which is significantly close to that obtained from the experiment（84.57%）. The results show that RSm could be useful to predict the maximum copper extraction from a low-grade ore and investigate the effects of variables on the final response. Besides, a couple of statistically significant interactions are derived between p H value and pulp density as well as p H value and initial ferrous ion concentration which are precisely interpreted. However, there is no statistically significant interaction between the initial ferrous ion concentration and the pulp density. Additionally, the response at optimal levels of p H value and pulp density is found to be independent on the level of initial ferrous concentration.

Reviewing the empirical and theoretical parameter relationships between various parameters is a good way to understand more about contact binary *** this investigation,two-dimensional(2D)relationships for P–mV(system),P–L1,2,m1,2–L1,2,and q–Lratiowere *** sample used is related to 118 contact binary systems with an orbital period shorter than 0.6 days whose absolute parameters were estimated based on the Gaia Data Release 3 *** reviewed previous studies on 2D relationships and updated six parameter ***,markov chain monte Carlo and machine Learning methods were used,and the outcomes were *** selected 22 contact binary systems from eight previous studies for comparison,which had light curve solutions using spectroscopic *** results show that the systems are in good agreement with the results of this study.

The first photometric light curve investigation of the NSVS 8294044,V1023 Her,and V1397 Her binary systems is *** used ground-based observations for the NSVS 8294044 system and Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite data for V1023 Her and V1397 *** primary and secondary times of minima were extracted from al the data,and,by collecting the literature,a new ephemeris was computed for each *** fits for the O-C diagrams were conducted using the markov Chain monte Carlo (mCmC) *** curve solutions were performed using the PHysics Of Eclipsing BinariEs Python code and the mCmC *** systems were found to be contact binary stars based on the fillout factor and mass ratio.V1023 Her showed the O’Connell effect and a cold starspot on the secondary component was required for the light curve *** absolute parameters of the system were estimated based on an empirical relationship between orbital period and *** presented a new T–m equation based on a sample of 428 contact binary systems and found that our three target systems were in good agreement with the *** positions of the systems were also depicted on the m–L,m–R,q–L_(ratio),and m_(tot)–J_(0)diagrams in the logarithmic scales.

Design and implementation of a new portable hybrid solar atmospheric water-generation system

During recent years,atmospheric water generation(AWG)has garnered significant attention among researchers as a viable solution to the water-scarcity ***,AWG requires dehumidification,which includes two main principles of refrigeration and *** refrigeration methods,thermoelectric coolers are suitable and,among sorption methods,it is best to utilize desiccant materials with high sorption capacity and low heat *** the present study,a portable hybrid/integrated solar AWG system was designed and tested under realistic conditions of Babol,Iran(36.5387°N,52.6765°E)over four typical summer days between 14 and 31 August *** models(models A and B)were designed and ***,relative humidity,solar irradiance and water-production data were recorded to assess the system performance(*** ratio between the generated water and consumed power in ml/***)and economically analyse the *** on the results acquired,the maximum water production in the proposed configuration(acquired from model B)was 2.12 l/m^(2).day at an average relative humidity and a temperature of 52%and 36°C,*** desired AWG system had a system performance of 0.19 ml/***,annual water production of 774.4 l/m^(2),production cost of 0.0246$/l/m^(2)and a payback period of 1.19 years.

Numerical simulation of magnetic drug targeting with Eulerian-Lagrangian model and effect of viscosity modification due to diabetics

The targeted drug delivery and targeted drug therapy transport a drug directly to the center of the disease under various conditions and thereby treat it deliber- ately without effects on the body. This paper studies the magnetic drug targeting （mDT） technique by particle tracking in the presence of magnetic field in bifurcation vessels of a healthy person and a diabetes patient. The Lagrangian particle tracking is performed to estimate particle behavior under effects of imposed magnetic field gradients along the bifurcation. The results show that the magnetic field increases the volume fraction of particle in the target region, and the efficiency of mDT on a patient with the diabetes disease is better than a healthy person. Also, for the higher magnetic numbers, the flow in the upper branch is strongly affected by the magnetic field.

microstructure and wear performance of Al5083/CeO_2/SiC mono and hybrid surface composites fabricated by friction stir processing

Friction stir processing（FSP） was utilized to produce surface composites by incorporating nano-sized cerium oxide（CeO2） and silicon carbide（SiC） particles individually and in combined form into the Al5083 alloy matrix. The study signified the role of these reinforcements on microstructure and wear behavior of the resultant surface composite layers. The wear characteristics of the resultant mono and hybrid surface composite layers were investigated using a pin-on-disc wear tester at room temperature. The microstructural observations of FSPed regions and the worn out surfaces were performed by optical and scanning electron microscopy. Considerable grain refinement and uniform distribution of reinforcement particles were achieved inside the nugget zone. All the composite samples showed higher hardness and wear resistance compared to the base metal. Among the composite samples, the hybrid composite（Al5083/CeO2/SiC） revealed the highest wear resistance and the lowest friction coefficient, whereas the Al5083/SiC composite exhibited the highest hardness, i.e., 1.5 times as hard as that of the Al5083 base metal. The enhancement in wear behavior of the hybrid composites was attributed to the solid lubrication effect provided by CeO2 particles. The predominant wear mechanism was identified as severe adhesive in non-composite samples, which changed to abrasive wear and delamination in the presence of reinforcing particles.

Use of mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria for the improvement of copper extraction from a low-grade ore

Bioleaching was examined for copper extraction from a low grade ore using mesophilic and moderate thermophilic bacteria. Five equal size columns were used for the leaching of the ore. Sulfuric acid solution with a flow rate of 3.12 L·m-2·h-1 and pH 1.5 passed through each column continuously for 90 d. In the first and the second column, bioleaching was performed without agglomeration of the ore and on the agglomerated ore, respectively. 28wt% of the copper was extracted in the first column after 40 d, while this figure was 38wt% in the second column. After 90 d, however, the overall extractions were almost the same for both of them. Bioleaching with mesophilic bacteria was performed in the third column without agglomeration of the ore and in the fourth column on the agglomerated ore. After 40 d, copper extractions in the third and the fourth columns were 62wt% and 70wt%, respectively. Copper extractions were 75wt% for both the columns after 90 d. For the last column, bioleaching was performed with moderate thermophilic bacteria and agglomerated ore. Copper extractions were 80wt% and 85wt% after 40 and 90 d, respectively. It was concluded that crushing and agglomeration of the ore using bacteria could enhance the copper extraction considerably.

Friction-stir-welded overaged 7020-T6 alloy joint: an investigation on the effect of rotational speed on the microstructure and mechanical properties

Commercial A7020-T6 plates in the overaged state were subjected to friction stir welding with four different tool rotational speeds of 500, 710, 1000, and 1400 r/min and a single traverse feed rate of 40 mm/min. The resultant changes in the welding heat input, microstructure, and the mechanical properties of the joints were investigated. The changes were related to the processes of growth, dissolution, and re-formation of precipitates. The precipitate evolution was examined by differential scanning calorimetry, and the microstructural analysis was conducted using optical, scanning, and transmission electron microscopes. The results showed that the grain size in the stirred zone(SZ) decreased substantially compared with the base metal, but increased with tool rotational speed because of the rise in temperature. We found that the width of the heat-affected zone increased with tool rotational speed. The hardness and the tensile strength in the SZ increased with increasing heat input compared with the base metal in the overaged condition. This recovery in mechanical properties of the joints can be attributed to the dissolution and re-formation of precipitates in the SZ and the thermomechanically affected zone. This process is referred to as an "auto-aging treatment."

Thermodynamic Studies on The Interaction of Nickel With Human Serum Albumin

The interaction of human serum albumin with divalent nickel ion was studied by equilibrium dialysis, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and circular dichroism (CD) in 30 mmol/L Tris buffer , pH=7 0. There is a set of 8 identical binding sites for nickel binding on the protein at two temperatures of 300 K and 310 K. The cooperativity in the binding is observed at 310 K. The Hill coefficients at 300 K and 310 K are 0 97 and 1 25, respectively. The interaction between nickel ions and HSA is exothermic. A value of -36 5 kJ for enthalpy of interaction ( 1∶1 stoichiometry) was obtained. The secondary structure of HSA dose not show any change during the binding nickel ions process. However, the tertiary structure of the protein changes, which shows the existence of two natives like states.
