maraging steel (250) and 13-8 mo stainless steel plates were joined by gas tungsten constricted arc welding(GTCAW) process in similar and dissimilar metal combinations using 13-8 mo stainless steel filler wire. The similar and dissimilar metal welds made in solutionized condition were subjected to standard post weld hardening treatments direct ageing at 485 ℃, soaking for 31/2 hours followed by air cooling(ageing treatment of maraging steel) and direct ageing at 510 ℃, soaking for 4 h followed by air cooling(ageing treatment of 13-8 mo stainless steel). The joint characterization studies include microstructure examination, microhardness survey across the weldments and transverse weld tensile *** and dissimilar metal weldments responded to both the post weld ageing treatment. After post weld aging, increase in yield strength, UTS and slight reduction in % elongation of similar and dissimilar metal were observed. The observed tensile properties were correlated with microstructure and hardness distribution across the welds.

High-speed router design for network on chip(HSRDN) is proposed for controlling the traffic congestion and deadlocks. Diagonal based nearest-path routing algorithm for No C(DNRAN) can mitigate the effect of latency by opting for the nearest-path to reach the destination in a network and HSRDN is part of DNRAN. When we analyze the performance of DNRAN for all proposed topologies, nearly 50% better in terms of latency reduction and high throughput over existing router architectures. The proposed topologies(2 D-mesh,2 D-Star mesh over regional mesh(Smo Rm), 3 D-mesh,and 3 D-torus) are tested with various applications, viz,audio, video and so on. Here, we also tested with cryptography application for DNRAN. When we analyzed the performance of experimental results, exclusively in 2 D-Smo Rm nearly 0.6 times latency get reduced, area expanded by 0.25 and 0.33 times throughput increase in 2 D-Smo Rm compared with 3 D-mesh and 3 ***, DNRAN showed an exclusive performance in 2 D-Smo Rm compared with other two topologies.

The xNi_(0.83)Co_(0.15)Cu_(0.02)Fe_(1.9)O_(4-δ)+PbZr_(0.52)Ti_(0.48)O_(3)(PZT)particulate magneto ferroelectric composites with x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5 and 0.6 mole fraction were prepared by conventional ceramic double sintering *** presence of two phases(perovskite structure of ferroelectric phase and spinal structure of ferromagnetic phase)was confirmed by X-ray *** magnetoelectric(mE)property of the particulate composites was determined at room temperature as a function of intensity of magnetic *** temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus(L)and the internal friction(Q−1)of these particulate composites at 104.3 kHz was studied in the wide temperature range 30-420℃.The temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus in each composition of these particulate composites showed two abrupt *** minimum coincided with the ferroelectric-paraelectric Curie transition temperature(θE)and the other with the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic Curie transition temperature(θm).The internal friction measurement also showed two sharp peaks in each composition corresponding to those temperatures where the minima were noticed in the temperature variation of the longitudinal modulus behaviour.

The effect of Al addition （2 and 5 at. pct） on sintering kinetics of Ti power were investigated. Al reduces the sintering rates, sinter density, increases activation energy of sintering and accelerates the grain growth. Sintering was controlled by mixed mode, i.e. transient liquid phase sintering, formation of intermetallics, and Ti grain boundary diffusion in TiAl2 and other intermetallics.

Solid polymer electrolyte films containing poly（vinyl alcohol）（PVA） and magnesium nitrate （mg（NO3）2） were prepared by solution casting technique and characterized by using XRD, FTIR, DSC and AC impedance spectroscopic analysis. The amorphous nature of the polymer electrolyte films has been confirmed by XRD. The complex formation between PVA and mg salt has been confirmed by FTIR. The glass transition temperature decreases with increasing the mg salt concentration. The AC impedance studies are performed to evaluate the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolyte films in the range of 303-383 K, and the temperature dependence seems to obey the Arrhenius behavior. Transport number measurements show that the charge transport is mainly due to ions. Electrochemical cell of configuration mg/（PVA ＋ mg（NO3）2）（70：30）/（12 ＋ C ＋ electrolyte） has been fabricated. The discharge characteristics of the cell were studied for a constant load of 100 kΩ.

Pentachlorophenol degradation by Pseudomonas stutzeri CL7 in the secondary sludge of pulp and paper mill

A pentachlorophenol （PCP） mineralizing bacterium was isolated from the secondary sludge of pulp and paper mill and identified as Pseudomonas stutzeri strain CL7. This isolate used PCP as its sole source of carbon and energy and was capable of degrading this compound as indicated by stoichiometric release of chloride and biomass formation. P. stutzeri （CL7） was able to mineralize a high concentration of PCP （600 mg/L） than any previously reported Pseudomonad with PCP as sole carbon source. As the concentration of PCP increased from 50 to 600 mg/L, the reduction in the cell growth was observed and the PCP degradation was more than 90% in all studied concentrations. This isolate was able to remove 66.8% of PCP from the secondary sludge of pulp and paper mill when supplemented with 100 mg/L of PCP and grown for two weeks. This study showed that the removal efficiency of PCP by CL7 was found to be very effective and can be used in PCP remediation of pulp paper mill waste in the environment.

Power system planning is a capital intensive investment-decision problem. The majority of the conven- tional planning conducted since the last half a century has been based on the least cost approach, keeping in view the optimization of cost and reliability of power supply. Recently, renewable energy sources have found a niche in power system planning owing to concerns arising from fast depletion of fossil fuels, fuel price volatility as well as global climatic changes. Thus, power system planning is under-going a paradigm shift to incorporate such recent technologies. This paper assesses the impact of renewable sources using the portfolio theory to incorporate the effects of fuel price volatility as well as CO2 emissions. An optimization framework using a robust multi-objective evolutionary algorithm, namely NSGA-II, is developed to obtain Pareto optimal solutions. The performance of the proposed approach is assessed and illustrated using the Indian power system considering real-time design prac- tices. The case study for Indian power system validates the efficacy of the proposed methodology as developing countries are also increasing the investment in green energy to increase awareness about clean energy technologies.
