The garnet muscovite granitic pegmatite of Um Solimate,in southern Egypt,represents a promising asset for strategic and economic metals,especially Bi-Ni-Ag-Nb-Ta as well as U and *** ore bodies occur as large masses,pockets and/or veins of very coarse-grained pegmatites,which consist mainly of K-feldspar,quartz and albite with subordinate muscovite,garnet,and *** data revealed that e U-and e Th-contents of the pegmatites reach up to 39 ppm and 82 ppm,*** studied pegmatites are enriched in primary U and Th minerals(uraninite,coffinite,thorianite and uranothorite)as well as Hf-rich zircon and monazite,which give rise to anomalous radioactive ***-tantalium-bearing minerals(***,microlite and uranopyrochlore),xenotime,barite,galena,fluorite,and apatite are ubiquitous,and,consequently,the studied pegmatites belong tothe Niobium-Yttrium-Fluorine-type(NYF)*** noble metal mineralization includes argentite(Ag_(2)S),native Ni and Bi as well as bismite and *** addition,beryl and tourmaline are observed in pegmatites near the contact with metasediments and ultramafic *** observed compositional variations of Ta/(Ta+Nb)and mn/(mn+Fe)ratios in columbite(0.08-0.45 and 0.11-0.57,respectively)and Hf contents in zircon(3.54-6.46 wt%)may reflectan extreme degree of magmatic fractionation leading to formation of the pegmatite orebody.

Antioxidant Effect of Sepia Ink Extract on Extrahepatic Cholestasis Induced by Bile Duct ligation in Rats

Objective The aim of our study was to assess the complications of hepatic fibrosis associated with bile duct ligation and the potential curative role of sepia ink extract in hepatic damage induced by bile duct ligation. methods Rattus norvegicus rats were divided into 3 groups: Sham-operated group, model rats that underwent common bile duct ligation (BDl), and BDl rats treated orally with sepia ink extract (200 mg/kg body weight) for 7, 14, and 28 d after BDl. Results There was a significant reduction in hepatic enzymes, AlP, GGT, bilirubin levels, and oxidative stress in the BDl group after treatment with sepia ink extract. Collagen deposition reduced after sepia ink extract treatment as compared to BDl groups, suggesting that the liver was repaired. Histopathological examination of liver treated with sepia ink extract showed moderate degeneration in the hepatic architecture and mild degeneration in hepatocytes as compared to BDl groups. Conclusion Sepia ink extract provides a curative effect and an antioxidant capacity on BDl rats and could ameliorate the complications of liver cholestasis.

Rare metal mineralization of Sn, Nb-Ta and W is encountered in the Gebel Dihmit area (GDA), south- eastern Aswan, Egypt. The mineralization is related to muscovite granites and their pegmatite derivatives. The peg- matites are divided into three types according to their main mineral assemblages: K-feldspar-muscovite-tourmaline, K-feldspar-albite-muscovite and albite-K-feldspar-lepidolite veins. Petrogenetic studies indicate that Sn and Nb-Ta mineralization extends from the late-magmatic stage to the pegmatite and hydrothermal stages of the (GDA) suite. The albite-K-feldspar-lepidolite granite is composed dominantly of albite, lepidolote, and quartz, with topaz, K-feldspar and amblygonite. The accessory minerals are zircon, monazite, pollucite, columbite-tantalite, microlite and Ta-rich cassiterite. Phenocrysts of quartz, topaz and K-feldspar contain abundant inclusions of albite laths and occasional lepidolite crystals along growth zones (snowball texture), indicating simultaneous crystallization from a subsolvus, residual magma. The origin of the pegmatites is attributed to extreme differentiation by fractional crystal- lization of a granitic magma. The economic potential for rare metals was evaluated in the geochemical discrimination diagrams. Accordingly, some of the pegmatites are not only highly differentiated in terms of alkalis, but also the promising targets for small-scale Ta and, to a less extent, Sn. The pegmatites also provide the first example of Fe-mn and Nb-Ta fractionation in successive generations of granites to cassiterite-bearing pegmatites, which perfectly ex- hibit similar fractionation trends established for primary columbite-tantalite in the corresponding categories of peg- matites. Uranium and Th of magmatic origin are indicated by the presence of thorite and allanite, whereas evidence of hydrothermal mineralization is the alteration of rock- foring minerals such as feldspar and the formation of sec- ondary minerals such as uranophane..

Gomphrena serrata l. (Amaranthaceae) is a medicinal plant widely used traditionally in rural areas to treat many diseases, including gastrointestinal helminthiasis of small ruminants. This work aims to estimate the plant extracts phytochemical potential and study the activities of the aqueous decoction (GS_AD), aqueous macerate (GS_Am), and hydroalcoholic macerate (GS_HEm) of Gomphrena serrata extracts on two developmental stages (eggs and adult worms) of Haemonchus contortus. Phytochemical screening was carried out. The acute toxicity test was performed according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) test guideline 423. The Haemonchus contortus eggs hatching inhibition test was performed left to incubate for 48 hours in the presence of the different plant extracts at increasing concentrations of 0.125;0.25;0.5;0.625;1;2;3 mg/ml. For the motility inhibition test on adult worms, the worms were contacted with the extracts at concentrations of 0.75;1;1.25;1.5;2;3;4 mg/ml and left to incubate for 24 hours. Albendazole and levamisole were used as standard. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of tannins, saponins, reducing compounds, coumarins and derivatives, anthocyanins, steroids, triterpenes, and flavonoids. An acute toxicity study showed that the oral lD50 value of G. serrata was estimated to be 5000 mg/kg. All extracts showed an effect on both stages of parasite development. The hatching inhibition rate was 100% from 3 mg/ml for all three extracts. The rate of inhibition of motility was 100% from 4 mg/ml for each extract. HEm is more efficient on eggs and Haemonchus contortus adult worms than other extracts with IC50 of 0.457 mg/ml and lC50 of 1.329 mg/ml, respectively. These results suggest that Gomphrena serrata, a plant used by farmers, has anthelmintic properties.

This paper presents and analyzes the results of a series of compaction,fragmentability and damage tests performed on an expansive overconsolidated clay treated with cement and *** clay was obtained from the urban site of Sidi-Hadjrès city(wilaya of m'sila,Algeria),where significant damages frequently appears in the road infrastructures,roadway systems and light *** results obtained show that the geotechnical parameters values deduced from these tests are concordant and confirm the evolutivity of this natural clay treated with composed Portland cement or extinct lime and compacted under optimum Proctor conditions.

most ecological studies in North Africa reveal a process of continuous degradation of rangeland ecosystems as a result of overgrazing. This degradation appears across the decreasing of perennial grass diversity. Indeed, the majority of steppe ecosystems are characterized by a low density of perennial grass species at present. This study evaluated the effects of temperature and water limitation on the seed germination of Stipagrostis ciliata（Desf.） de Winter, a perennial grass species. The seeds were collected from the Bou Hedma Park, Sidi Bouzid Governorate, Central Tunisia. The thermal time and hydrothermal time models were used to describe the seed germination of S. ciliata under different water potentials and temperatures. The germination response of S. ciliata seeds in darkness was evaluated over a range of temperatures（15°C, 20°C, 25°C, 30°C and 35°C） and across a wide range of osmotic potentials（0.0, –0.2, –0.6, –1.2, –1.6 and –2.0 mPa） of the polyethylene glycol（PEG6000） solutions at each temperature level. Among the tested temperatures, 25°C was found to be the optimal temperature to the germination of S. ciliata seeds. The final germination percentage（75.2%） was obtained with distilled water. The progressive decrease of osmotic potential of the PEG6000 solutions inhibited the seed germination. However, the number of days to first germination was increased with a reduction of osmotic potential. A significant positive relationship was identified between final germination percentage of S. ciliata seeds and osmotic potential of the PEG6000 solutions, with R^2 ranging from 0.5678 to 0.8761. Furthermore, a high degree of congruency between predicted and observed germination time course curves was observed. In general, S. ciliata exhibits a significant adaptation capacity for water limitation and high temperature in arid ecosystems.

AIm:To demonstrate the therapeutic effect of probiotics in patients with ulcerative colitis(UC),and their effect on inflammatory mediators and nuclear factor(NF)κB activation in these ***:Thirty patients with mild to moderate UC were randomly classified into two groups:sulfasalazine group,who received sulfasalazine 2400 mg/d;and probiotic group,who received sulfasalazine 2400 mg/d with *** patients were investigated before and after 8 wk of treatment with probiotic(lactobacillus delbruekii and lactobacillus fermentum).Colonic activity of myeloperoxidase(mPO)was assayed with UV spectrophotometry,the colonic content of interleukin(Il)-6 was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ElISA),fecal calprotectin was determined by ElISA,and expression of NF-κB p65 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-αproteins in colonic tissue was identified by immunohistochemistry and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction,***:At the start of the study,colonic mucosal injury and inflammation were demonstrated in UC patients by hematoxylin and eosin staining,and an increase in colonic mPO activity,fecal calprotectin,and expression of colonic TNF-αand NF-κB p65 *** use of probiotic for 8 wk significantly ameliorated the inflammation by decreasing the colonic concentration of Il-6,expression of TNF-αand NF-κB p65,leukocyte recruitment,as demonstrated by a decrease in colonic mPO activity,and the level of fecal calprotectin compared to sulfasalazine group and the control group(PlUSION:Oral supplementation with probiotics could be helpful in maintaining remission and preventing relapse of UC.

This study focusses on the numerical investigations of boundary layer flow for magnetohydrodynamic(mHD)and a power-law nanofluid containing gyrotactic microorganisms on an exponentially stretching surface with zero nanoparticle mass flux and convective *** nonlinear system of the governing equations is transformed and solved by Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg *** impacts of the transverse magnetic field,bioconvection parameters,lewis number,nanofluid parameters,Prandtl number and power-law index on the velocity,temperature,nanoparticle volume fraction,density of motile microorganism profiles is *** addition,the impacts of these parameters on local skin-friction coefficient,local Nusselt,local Sherwood numbers and local density number of the motile microorganisms are *** results reveal that the power law index is considered an important factor in this *** to neglecting the buoyancy force term,the bioconvection and nanofluid parameters have slight effects on the velocity *** resultant lorentz force,from increasing the magnetic field parameter,try to decrease the velocity profiles and increase the rescaled density of motile microorganisms,temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction ***,an augmentation of power-law index drops the reduced local skin-friction and reduced Sherwood number,while it increases reduced Nusselt number and reduced local density number of motile microorganisms.
