Place of Exercise Echocardiography in Stable Coronary Artery Disease in Sub-Saharan Africa:A Series in Senegal

Introduction: Exercise echocardiography is a non-invasive technique that occupies a special place for the detection of stable coronary disease. The main objective of this study was to report our experience and assess our practice in the diagnosis of stable coronaryartery disease. methodology: We conducted a retrospective study, descriptive over a period of 34 months, from December 1, 2016 to September 30, 2019. All the patients received during the study period for stress echocardiography as part of a suspicion of stable coronary artery disease were included. A total of 100 examinations were completed during the study period. Results: Ninety (90) exams were studied. There were 56 men or a sex-ratio of 1.64. The mean age was of 57.3 ± 10 years. Hypertension (31 patients or 62%) was the most frequent risk factor. Typical chest pain was noticed in 45 patients (52.3%). The pre-test probability was intermediate in 77 patients (89.5%). Echocardiography at rest was normal in 86 patients (95.6%). A total of 62 tests were negative (69%) and 02 (2.2%) were non-contributory. Ten tests (10) of 26 electrical positive tests were associated with segmental kinetics disorders. In the 10 patients who had exercise kinetic disorders, 08 had coronary angiography. It was normal in 04 of them. The positive predictive value of exercise echography was 50% in our study. In a patient with a negative exercise echocardiography with a high clinical probability of coronary disease, the coronary angiography showed a two-vessel impairment with an intermediate lesion of Cx2 and an intermediate lesion of RCA2. It thus constitutes a false negative. Sensitivity was 80% in our study. We noticed an incident like non-sustained ventricular tachycardia. Conclusion: Exercise echocardiography is a safe and reliable examination for the diagnosis of stable coronary artery disease. multi-exponential model to describe pressure-dependent P-and S-wave velocities and its use to estimate the crack aspect ratio

We present new quantitative model describing the pressure dependence of acoustic P-and S-wave *** that a variety of individual mechanisms or defects(such as cracks,pore collapse and grain crushing)can contribute to the pressure-dependent change of the wave velocity,we order a characteristic pressure to all of them and allow a series of exponential terms in the description of the(Pand S-waves)velocity-pressure *** estimate the parameters of the multi-exponential rock physical model in inversion procedures using laboratory measured P-and S-wave velocity *** is known,the conventional damped least squares method gives acceptable results only when one or two individual mechanisms are *** the number of exponential terms leads to highly nonlinear ill-posed inverse *** to this reason,we develop the spectral inversion method(SIm)in which the velocity amplitudes(the spectral lines in the characteristic pressure spectrum)are only considered as *** characteristic pressures(belonging to the velocity amplitudes)are excluded from the set of inversion unknowns,instead,they are defined in a set of fixed positions equidistantly distributed in the actual interval of the independent variable(pressure).Through this novel linear inversion method,we estimate the parameters of the multi-exponential rock physical model using laboratory measured P-and S-wave velocity *** characteristic pressures are related to the closing pressures of cracks which are described by well-known rock mechanical relationships depending on the aspect ratio of elliptical *** gives the possibility to estimate the aspect ratios in terms of the characteristic pressures.

Copper(I)selenide-nanocrystalline semiconductor was synthesized via one-step mechanochemical synthesis after 5 min milling in a planetary ball *** kinetics of synthesis was followed by X-ray powder diffraction analysis and specific surface area measurements of milled 2Cu/Se *** X-ray diffraction confirmed the orthorhombic crystal structure of Cu_(2)Se with the crystallite size∼25 *** surface chemical structure was studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,whereby the binding energy of the Cu 2p and Se 3d signals corresponded to Cu^(+)and Se^(2−)oxidation *** electron microscopy revealed agglomerated nanocrystals and confirmed their orthorhombic structure,as *** optical properties were studied utilizing ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and photoluminescence *** direct bandgap energy 3.7 eV indicated a blue-shift phenomenon due to the quantum size *** type of Cu_(2)Se synthesis can be easily adapted to production dimensions using an industrial vibratory *** advantages of mechanochemical synthesis represent the potential for inexpensive,environmentally-friendly,and waste-free manufacturing of Cu_(2)Se.

Study of TiO_2 thin films on Si substrate by the photoacoustic elastic bending method

The quantitative photoacoustic investigation of different TiO2 thin films on Si substrates is presented using the elastic bending method. Photoacoustic signal amplitude and phase spectra versus modulation frequency were measured and analyzed using different sample thicknesses. Within the proposed method particular attention is given to the analysis of optical, thermal, elastic and structural sample parameters. Considerable focus is devoted to the fitting procedure of experimental results using the two-layer sample theoretical model. Characteristics of previously developed photoacoustic apparatus are discussed, attempting to search the ideal experimental conditions which can provide a good signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity.

Several epidemiological studies have clearly identified diabetes mellitus(Dm)as a major risk factor for cognitive dysfunction,and it is going to be a major public health issue in the coming years because of the alarming rise in diabetes prevalence across the *** and neural tissues predominantly depend on glucose as energy substrate and hence,any alterations in carbohydrate metabolism can directly impact on cerebral functional output including cognition,executive capacity,and *** affects neuronal function and mental capacity in several ways,some of which include hypoperfusion of the brain tissues from cerebrovascular disease,diabetes-related alterations of glucose transporters causing abnormalities in neuronal glucose uptake and metabolism,local hyper-and hypometabolism of brain areas from insulin resistance,and recurrent hypoglycemic episodes inherent to pharmacotherapy of diabetes resulting in neuronal *** decline can further worsen diabetes care as Dm is a disease largely self-managed by ***,it is crucial to understand the pathobiology of cognitive dysfunction in relation to Dm and its management for optimal long-term care plan for patients.A thorough appraisal of normal metabolic characteristics of the brain,how alterations in neural metabolism affects cognition,the diagnostic algorithm for patients with diabetes and dementia,and the management and prognosis of patients when they have this dangerous combination of illnesses is imperative in this *** evidence-based narrative with the backup of latest clinical trial reviews elaborates the current understanding on diabetes and cognitive function to empower physicians to manage their patients in day-to-day clinical practice.

Each Tribonacci sequence starting with an arbitrary triple of integers is periodic modulo m for any modulus m 〉 1. For a given m, the mapping between the set S of all m^3 triples of initial values and the set of their coresponding periods define a partition of the set S. In this paper we shall investigate some basic questions related to these partitions from the point of view of enumerative combinatorics.

Production of chitosan from endolichenic fungi isolated from mangrove environment and its antagonistic activity

Objective:To screen the chitosan producing ability of endolichenic fungi and its antibacterial ***:Lichen collected from mangroves was screened for endophytes and the chitosan producing ability of endolichenic fungi by submerged fermentation was also *** activity was carried out against different ***:Totally4 different groups of fungi were isolated from the lichen Roccella *** the four genera,Aspergillus niger(***)is potential to produce chitosan(1.3 g/L)on the twelfth day of *** plays an important role in the pnjductivity of chitosan and the yield was maximum at 10%(1.93 g/L).Antibacterial activity revealed that Vibrio cholerae was sensitive to chitosan followed by Escherichia ***:In conclusion,our findings suggest that *** is a potential candidate to produce more chitosan than the other strains and glucose plays an important role in the production of chitosan which proves to have a good antibacterial activity.

Entomopathogenic fungi isolated from Yukon soil against unfed larvae of the winter tick,Dermacentor albipictus
