Petrology, geochemistry, radioactivity, and m–W type rare earth element tetrads of El Sela altered granites, south eastern desert,Egypt

The southern part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt—about 30 km southwest of Abu-Ramad city—is mainly covered by ophiolitic rocks(Sul Hamed), island arc assemblage, younger granites(muscovite granites of Qash Amer and two mica granites of El Sela), and various acidic and basic dikes. Field, petrological, and geochemical studies indicate that the El Sela shear zone has been subject to hydrothermal and supergene alteration such as kaolinization, albitization, sericitization, and hematitization. It is invaded by quartz ENE–WSW veins associated with hydrothermal alteration accompanied by radioactive mineralization. The investigated younger granitic rocks had very low contents of compatible elements, such as Cr, Ni,and Co; and high contents of incompatible elements, such as Zr, and large ion lithophiles, such as Sr, especially in the El Sela shear zone. major oxide and trace element analyses revealed calc-alkaline affinity and peraluminous *** highly differentiated granitic rocks' lower Zr/Hf and higher Y/Ho than the normal ratio are consistent with hydrothermal alteration. most samples had rare earth element(REE)-patterns with an m-type tetrad effect in the first and fourth segments and a W-type tetrad in the third segment. The average ∑REE in the studied granites was lower than the world granite average; the ratio of light to heavy REEs greater. The main radioactive, uranium-bearing, and uraniferous Fe and mn minerals are uranothorite,autunite, uranophane and autunite as compounds, kasolite,columbite, xenotime, uranophane-bearing zircon and jarosite, silver-bearing pyrite, hematite, and autunite-bearing pyrolusite.

many problems in engineering sciences can be described by linear,inhomogeneous,m-th order ordinary differential equations(ODEs)with variable *** this wide class of problems,we here present a new,simple,flexible,and robust solution method,based on piecewise exact integration of local approximation polynomials as well as on averaging local *** method is designed for modern mathematical software providing efficient environments for numerical matrix-vector operation-based *** on cubic approximation polynomials,the presented method can be expected to perform(i)similar to the Runge-Kutta method,when applied to stiff initial value problems,and(ii)significantly better than the finite difference method,when applied to boundary value ***,we use the presented method for the analysis of engineering problems including the oscillation of a modulated torsional spring pendulum,steady-state heat transfer through a cooling web,and the structural analysis of a slender tower based on second-order beam *** convergence studies provide insight into the satisfying characteristics of the proposed solution scheme.

Natural Radioactivity measurement and Assessment of Radiological Hazards in Some Building materials Used in Bangladesh

The radioactivity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in 24 samples of natural and manufactured building materials commonly used in Bangladesh were measured using HPGe gamma ray spectrometer. The results in the present study were compared with the world average and also with the reported data available in literature. The radium equivalent activity, the absorbed dose rate, annual effective dose, external and internal hazard indices, gamma index, alpha index, annual gonadal dose equivalent and excess lifetime cancer risk were also evaluated to assess the potential radiation hazards associated with these building materials. All samples under investigation were found to be within the recommended safety limit and do not pose any significant radiation hazards. This study can be used as a reference for more extensive studies of the same subject in future.

Presence of multifractality in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions

In the present study an attempt is made to examine multifractality in multiparticle production in relativistic nuclear collisions;multifractality is investigated in 14.5 A GeV/c 28Si-nucleus collisions. For this, Gq-moments are calculated and variations of ?are looked into. Values of mass exponents, tq, and generalised dimensions, Dq, are obtained. Analysis of multifractal moments reveals that multiplicity fluctuations are of dynamical nature.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection and its consequent complications are undeniably a public health burden worldwide,particularly in *** evidence suggests that many lncRNAs have relevant roles in viral infections and antiviral *** To investigate the expression profiles of circulating lncRNAGAS5,lncRNAHEIH,lncRNABISPR and mRNABST2 in naïve,treated and relapsed HCV Egyptian patients,to elucidate relation to HCV infection and their efficacy as innovative biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of HCV *** One hundred and thirty HCV-infected Egyptian patients and 20 healthy controls were included in this *** lncRNAs and mRNABST2 were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).RESULTS Our results indicated that serum lncRNAGAS5 and LncRNABISPR were upregulated,whereas mRNA BST2 and LncRNA HEIH were downregulated in naïve *** contrast,HCV patients treated with sofosbuvir and simeprevir;with sofosbuvir and daclatasvir;or with sofosbuvir,daclatasvir and ribavirin exhibited lower levels of lncRNAGAS5 and lncRNABISPR with higher mRNABST2 compared to naïve ***,patients relapsed from sofosbuvir and simeprevir showed higher levels of these lncRNAs with lower mRNABST2 compared to treated ***5 and lncRNABISPR were positively correlated with viral load and ALT at PmRNABST2 was negatively correlated with viral load at Pment in HCV pathogenesis or antiviral response and highlights their promising roles in diagnosis and prognosis of HCV.

Organic matter accumulation in hill forests of Chittagong region,Bangladesh

Litter fall and its effect on forest soil properties at each decomposition stages were investigated in tropical monsoon climatic conditions of three plantations (7-year acacia plantation, 15-year acacia plantation and 18-year mixed plantation) and one natural forest (Sitapahar forest) from Chittagong hilly region of Bangladesh. Results showed that total accumulation of organic matter increased with plantation age, accompanying with a decrease of annual accumulation rate. Within the same vegetation type, the organic accumulation of both fresh and partially decomposed litter with humus varied significantly (p≤0.05) on hill positions, being highest on bottom slope and decreased gradually towards hilltop in the forest. Reverse trend in accumulation of soil organic matters was shown in 15-year Acacia auriculiformis plantation, from where fuel wood collected. In 7-and 15-year acacia and 18-year mixed broadleaved plantations, rates of total organic matter production consisting of fresh, partially and completely decomposed litter as well as incorporated organic matter in soil were 2554.31, 705.79 and 1028.01 kg·ha-1·a-1, respectively, and the corresponding contribution from fresh litter were 38.23, 19.40 and 30.48 kg·ha-1·a-1, respectively. In the three plantations and the natural forest, on an average fresh litter constituted 32.45%, partially decomposed litter with humus 13.50% and incorporated organic matter in soil 54.56% of the total organic matter production with mean litter thickness of 0.90 cm. Soil acidity increased with the increase of decomposition stage of organic matter.

Rice plant growth and yield: foliar application of plasma activated water

Plasma activated water(PAW)was prepared for 10 min to be applied one toﬁve times as a foliar spray to rice plants,to investigate plant growth,yield and the concentrations of total soluble protein and sugar in the rice grains *** results reveal that(1)the plant height,stem diameter,dry weight,chlorophyll and total carotene concentrations were improved by∼15%,∼25%,∼24%,∼47%and∼45%,respectively,with respect to control,(2)defense mechanisms of the plants treated with PAW were improved,(3)concentrations of total soluble protein and sugar were enhanced in the rice grains of PAW treated plants and(4)yield was increased by∼14%.
