Cadmium and lead effects on chlorophyll fluorescence,chlorophyll pigments and proline of Robinia pseudoacacia

Heavy metal contamination is one of the most important abiotic stresses affecting physiological activities of plants.We investigated the effects of cadmium（Cd） and lead（Pb） on chlorophyll fluorescence（Fv/Fm,Fo,and Fm）,photosynthetic pigments（chlorophyll a and b）,and proline in one-year-old seedlings of Robinia pseudoacacia.The seedlings were treated twice over a period of 10 days with Cd and Pb at concentrations of 0,250,500,1000 and2000 mg L-1.Saline solution containing Cd and Pb was sprayed on the leaves.Chlorophyll and proline contents were measured after 10 days.Chlorophyll fluorescence of R.pseudoacacia was affected slightly by high concentrations（1000,2000 mg L-1） of Cd and Pb.Chlorophyll a and a/b increased at 1000 and 2000 mg L-1of Cd and proline content of leaves was similar in all treatments of Cd and Pb.Our results indicated that photosynthetic sensitivity of R.pseudoacacia to Cd and Pb contamination was weak.Photosystem II chlorophyll pigments were not damaged by Pb and Cd stress.We conclude that chlorophyll fluorescence along with chlorophyll and proline contents are useful indicators of Cd and Pb stresses in R.pseudoacacia which widely planted in urban polluted regions in Iran.

Automating identification of services and their variability for product lines using NSGA-II

Architecture-level business services are identi- fied based on business processes; and likewise, in service- oriented product lines, identifying the domain architecture- level business services and their variability is preferred to be based on business processes and their variability. Identifica- tion of business services for a product line satisfying a set of given design metrics （such as cohesion and coupling） is ex- tremely difficult for a domain architect, since there are many product configurations for which the services must be proper at the same time. This means that the identified services must have proper values for n metrics in m different configura- tions at the same time. The problem becomes more serious when there are high degrees of variability and complexity embedded in the business processes that are the basis for ser- vice identification. We contribute to solve the multi-objective optimization problem of identifying business services for a product line by partitioning the graph of a business process variability model utilizing Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II. The service specification is achieved based on the results of the partitioning. The variability of the services is then determined in terms of mandatory and optional services as well as variability relationships, which are all represented in a Service Variability model. The method was empirically evaluated through experimentation, and showed proper lev- els of reusability and variability. Furthermore, the resulting models were fully consistent.

Characteristics of the breakup and fragmentation of an electrohydrodynamic melt jet

In this study, the breakup of a melt jet into a viscous medium is investigated in the presence of an intense electric field. Fragmentation of the melt jet occurs due to both hydrodynamic and electrohydrodynamic （EHD） forces within two kinds of silicone oil of different viscosities. The size and shape characteristics of the produced particles have been studied using SEm images, and the particle size distributions were found to exhibit considerable variations when a voltage was applied and when both the viscosity and temperature of the base fluid were changed. The morphologies of the particles were also affected by the same parameters. For instance, by applying EHD force, significant enhancements in size reduction and increased roundness of the particles occurred. The breakup process of the melt jet was found to be dominant by hydrodynamic or electrohydrodynamic instabilities, depending on the situation. Governing mechanisms （instability） in the cases of pure hydrodynamic and electrohydrodynamic fragmentations are discussed.
