Cancer is an abnormal state of cells where they undergo uncontrolled proliferation and produce aggressive malignancies that causes millions of deaths every *** the new understanding of the molecular mechanism(s)of disease progression,our knowledge about the disease is snowballing,leading to the evolution of many new therapeutic regimes and their successive *** the past few decades,various combinations of therapies have been pro-posed and are presently employed in the treatment of diverse *** drug therapy,immunotherapy,and personalized medicines are now largely being employed,which were not common a few years *** field of cancer discoveries and therapeutics are evolving fast as cancer type-specific biomarkers are progressively being identified and several types of cancers are nowadays undergoing systematic therapies,extending patients’disease-free survival *** growing evidence shows that a systematic and targeted approach could be the future of cancer medicine,chemotherapy remains a largely opted therapeutic option despite its known side effects on the patient’s physical and psychological ***-apeutic agents/pharmaceuticals served a great purpose over the past few decades and have remained the frontline choice for advanced-stage malignancies where surgery and/or radiation therapy cannot be prescribed due to specific *** present report succinctly reviews the existing and contemporary advancements in chemotherapy and assesses the status of the enrolled drugs/pharmaceuticals;it also comprehensively discusses the emerging role of specific/targeted therapeutic strategies that are presently being employed to achieve better clinical success/survival rate in cancer patients.

Decay Analysis of Ge Isotopes Formed in Reactions Induced by Tightly and Loosely Bound Projectiles

The dynamical cluster-decay model (DCm) is employed to investigate the decay of ^(6870)Ge~* compound nuclei formed respectively via tightly (~4He) and loosely (~6He) bound projectiles, using ^(64)Zn target. The study is carried out over a wide energy range (E_(c.m.)～5 meV to 16 meV) by including the quadrupole deformations (β_(2i)) and optimum orientations (θ_i^(opt)) of the decaying fragments. The fusion cross-sections, obtained by adding various evaporation channels show nice agreement with the experimental data for ~4He+^(64)Zn reaction. The contribution from competing compound inelastic scattering channel is also analyzed particularly for ^(68)Ge~* nucleus at above barrier energies. On the other hand,the decrement in the fusion cross-sections of ^(70)Ge~* nuclear system is addressed by presuming that ^(65)Zn ER is formed via two different modes:(i) the αn evaporation of ^(70Ge)~* nucleus, and(ii) 1n-evaporation of ^(66)Zn~*nuclear system,formed via breakup and 2n-transfer channels due to halo structure of the ~6He projectile. Besides this, the suppression in2 np evaporation cross-sections suggests the contribution of another breakup and transfer process of ~6He i.e. ~4He+ ^(64)*** contribution of breakup+transfer channels for ~6He+^(64)Zn reaction is duly addressed by applying relevant energy corrections due to the breakup of "~6He" projectile into 2n and ~4He. In addition to this, the barrier lowering, angular momentum and energy dependence effects are also explored in view of the dynamics of chosen reactions.

Comprehensive investigation on the synthesis and electrical transport behaviors of polycrystalline samples of lanthanum manganite due to static disorder was reported. The process parameters were optimized for different batches to yield variable grain sizes. Different sintering conditions and technique like thermal cycling were employed to obtain better grain packing density. The liquid nitrogen and air quenching of the samples were carried out to restrict the grain growth with well defused grain boundary. Variable grain habits and sizes were synthesized by standard solid-state reaction and modified sol-gel synthesis routes. Large variation of grain size, connectivity and packing was observed by varying sintering temperature and synthesis technique. The process dependent grain sizes were observed in the wide range from 20 nm to 1.5 μm by transmission and scanning electron microscopy, The variations in residual resistivity as well as metal-insulator transitions are observed. The observed data were analyzed on the basis of contributions from various dynamic interactions and static disorders.

The present work reportes the pertinence of samarium(Sm) doped spinel nanoferrites as magnetically recoverable photocatalyst for the removal of organic pollutants from ***,a series of Sm substituted spinel nano ferrites,mSm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(m=Ni,Co;x=0,0.02,0.06,0.1) we re synthesized via sol-gel *** effect of Sm doping on the structural,morphological,optical and magnetic properties of pristine nanoferrites was investigated ***,the fabricated samples were explored as photocatalysts for the oxidative degradation of antibiotics(ofloxacin and norfloxacin) and dyes(methyl orange and safranin O).The Sm doped nanoferrites exhibit astonishing catalytic efficacy that can be attributed to higher surface area,octahedral site preference of Sm ions and reduced band *** synthesized nanoferrites display excellent recyclability which enables them to be utilized as potential photocatalysts for wastewater treatment.

Br?nsted acid catalysts have been used in a number of organic transformations. To overcome limi-tations, such as toxicity, volatility, high price and hazardous nature of the conventional methods, the catalysts are adsorbed on silica gel to give the benefits and advantages of ready availability, simple work-up procedure, long catalytic life, environment-friendliness, good to excellent yields and recy-clability. The uses of such catalysts have gained importance worldwide. This article describes some of the important silicated catalysts, namely, heteropolyacids, polyphosphoric acid, perchloric acid, fluoroboric acid, and silicated sulphuric acid. These catalysts have been used in a number of organic reactions to yield compounds that are important in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. We summarize the beneficial effects of these catalysts and the reports that have been published on them in the past several years. In the present review, the description of the catalysts are introduced followed by a recent research history, and a comparison between the silica supported catalysts and other(polymer) supported catalysts. The article ends up giving the advantages of these catalytic systems over the conventional catalyst.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Evaluation of retinal nerve fiber layer thickness profile in thyroid ophthalmopathy without optic nerve dysfunction

AIm： To evaluate retinal nerve fiber layer（RNFL）thickness profile in patients of thyroid ophthalmopathy with no clinical signs of optic nerve ***： A prospective, case-control, observational study conducted at a tertiary care centre. Inclusion criteria consisted of patients with eyelid retraction in association with any one of： biochemical thyroid dysfunction, exophthalmos, or extraocular muscle involvement; or thyroid dysfunction in association with either exophthalmos or extra-ocular muscle involvement;or a clinical activity score（CAS）〉3/7. Two measurements of RNFL thickness were done for each eye, by Cirrus HD-optical coherence tomography 6mo ***： mean age of the sample was 38.75y（range13-70y） with 18 males and 22 females. Average RNFL thickness at first visit was 92.06 ±12.44 μm, significantly lower than control group（101.28±6.64 μm）（P =0.0001）.Thickness of inferior quadrant decreased from 118.2 ±21.27 μm to 115.0 ±22.27 μm after 6mo（P =0.02）. There was no correlation between the change in CAS and RNFL thickness. CONCLUSION： Decreased RNFL thickness is an important feature of thyroid orbitopathy, which is an inherent outcome of compressive optic neuropathy of any etiology. Subclinical RNFL damage continues in the absence of clinical activity of the disease. RNFL evaluation is essential in Grave＇s disease and active intervention may be warranted in the presence of significant damage.
