A multi-band metamaterial antenna is proposed to operate at the terahertz(THz)band for medical *** proposed structure is designed on a polyimide as a support layer,and its radiating elements are made of ***,the design is started with a conventional shape showing a single operating frequency at 1.1 *** achieve a multi-band operating frequency,the conventional shape was replaced with the proposed metamaterial as a radiating patch that has properties not exist in *** multi-band frequencies are obtained without compromising the overall size of the *** overall size is 600×600×25μm^(3).The operating frequencies are 0.36,0.49,0.69,0.87,and 1.04 THz.A full ground plane is used to behave as isolation between the design and the human body *** proposed design is investigated on free space and on the human body model,showing excellent performance in both *** achieved gains for the following frequencies 0.36,0.49,0.69,0.87,and 1.04 THz are 4.81,6.5,8.41,6.02,and 7.96 dB,respectively,while the efficiencies are 83.91%,96.28%,90.80%,91.71%,and 92.99%,*** conventional design was modified to have a partial ground to show the benefit of using the full *** design is loaded on the human body model and its performance is *** efficiency and gain are 6.61 dB and 95.58.7%for the case of no human body model,and 4.26 dB and 40.30%for the case of using a human body ***,the proposed metamaterial antenna will be useful for future medical applications in the THz band.

A reflectarray antenna consisting of asymmetrical patch elements is proposed,which is capable of producing dual linear and dual circular polarized operation at 26GHz *** main purpose of this design is to support four different polarizations using the same patch *** proposed reflectarray has a single layer configuration with a linearly polarized feed and circular ring slots in the ground *** patch element is designed from a square patch element by tilting its one vertical side to some optimized inclination.A wide reflection phase range of 600°is obtained with the asymmetric patch element during unit cell measurements.A 332 element circular aperture reflectarray is designed with the proposed configuration and experimentally validated with a linearly polarized prime feed *** different orientations of mirror and non-mirror asymmetric patch elements on the surface of reflectarray are *** linear polarization is obtained with the mirror orientation of the asymmetric patch elements on the surface of ***,asymmetric patch elements without mirror orientation are demonstrated to produce dual circular polarization with the same linearly polarized feed.A maximum measured gain of 24.4 dB and 26.1 dB is achieved for dual linear and dual circular polarization,*** respective measured efficiencies are 28%and 41.3%,which are supported by amaximum−3 dB gain bandwidth of 13.8%and 11.5%.The circular polarization operation of the reflectarray is also supported by a 6 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 9.2%.The proposed asymmetric patch reflectarray antenna with polarization diversity,wide bandwidth and high gain is suitable to be used in many high frequency applications of 5G communication.

This work provides the design and analysis of a single layer,linearly polarized millimeter wave reflectarray antenna with mutual coupling *** analysis was carried out at 26GHz design frequency using the simulations of the reflectarray unit cells as well as the periodic reflectarray *** simulated results were verified by the scattering parameter and far-fieldmeasurements of the unit cell and periodic arrays,*** agreement between the simulated and measured results was observed in all the *** from the unit cells and reflectarray,the waveguide and horn antenna were also fabricated to be used in the *** measured scattering parameter results of the proposed circular ring unit cells provided a maximum reflection loss of 2.8 dB with phase errors below 10°.On the other hand,the measured far-field results of the 20×20 reflectarray antenna provided a maximum gain of 26.45 dB with a maximum 3 dB beam width of 12°and 1 dB gain drop bandwidth of 13.1%.The performance demonstrated by the proposed reflectarray antenna makes it a potential candidate to be used in modern-day applications such as 5th Generation(5G)and 6th Generation(6G)communication systems.

For future healthcare in the terahertz(THz)band,a triple-band microstrip planar antenna integrated with metamaterial(mTm)based on a polyimide substrate is *** frequencies of operation are 500,600,and 880 *** triple-band capability is accomplished by etching metamaterial on the patch without affecting the overall antenna *** of a partial ground plane,a full ground plane is used as a buffer to shield the body from back radiation emitted by the *** overall dimension of the proposed antenna is 484×484μm^(2).The antenna’s performance is investigated based on different crucial factors,and excellent results are *** gain for the frequencies 500,600,880GHz is 6.41,6.77,10.1 dB,respectively while the efficiency for the same frequencies is 90%,95%,96%,*** research has been conducted by mounting the presented antenna on a single phantom layer with varying dielectric *** results show that the design works equally well with and without the phantom model,in contrast to a partially ground antenna,whose performance is influenced by the presence of the phantom *** a result,the presented antenna could be helpful for future healthcare applications in the THz band.

Clinical profile,diagnostic yield,and procedural outcomes of single balloon enteroscopy:A tertiary care hospital experience

BACKGROUND Single balloon enteroscopy(SBE)allows ease of access for small bowel visualization and has multiple diagnostic and therapeutic *** provides the advantage of performing various therapeutic interventions alongside the diagnostic *** has also been considered a relatively safe procedure with no major *** To investigate the indications,safety,and clinical yield of SBE,and determine its effect on disease *** A retrospective,descriptive study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Karachi,*** records of 56 adult patients(≥18 years)who underwent SBE between July 2013 and December 2021 were reviewed and data were collected using a structured proforma.A descriptive analysis of the variables was performed using Statistical Package of Social Sciences Version *** are reported as the mean±SD for quantitative variables and numbers and percentages for qualitative *** data are reported as *** A total of 56 patients who underwent 61 SBE procedures were *** mean age was 50.93±16.16 years,with 53.6%of them being ***(39.3%)and diabetes mellitus(25.0%)were the most common pre-existing *** gastrointestinal bleed(39.3%)was the most common indication for enteroscopy,followed by chronic diarrhea(19.7%)and unexplained anemia(16.4%).The majority of procedures were performed in the endoscopy suite(90.2%)under monitored anaesthesia care(93.4%).most procedures were diagnostic(91.8%)and completed without complications(95.1%).The depth of examination ranged from 95 cm to 500 cm with a mean of 282.05±90.04 *** most common findings were inflammation and ulcerations(29.5%),followed by masses(19.7%)and vascular malformations(14.8%).As a result of the findings,a new diagnosis was made in 47.5%of the cases and a previous one was ruled out in 24.6%of them;65.6%of the cases had a change in *** SBE is a suitable modality for investigatin

Influence of macro-Topography on Damage Tolerance and Fracture Toughness of monolithic Epoxy for Tribological Applications

Influence of topographical features on mechanical properties of monolithic epoxy samples has been studied. The topographical features studied include waviness (Wa), roughness average (Ra), root mean square value (Rq), and maximum roughness height (Rmax or Rz). The Rz of as-cast monolithic epoxy samples was 13.93 μm. By treating with velvet cloth, the Rz value significantly decreased to 2.28 μm. The Rz value of monolithic epoxy sample treated with abrasive paper 1200P was 4.85 μm which was also lower than that of as-cast monolithic epoxy samples. However, Rz values significantly increased by treating with abrasive papers 320P and 60P and became 20.32 μm and 39.32 μm, respectively. It was interesting to note that although Ra, Wa, and Rq, all increased by treating the monolithic epoxy samples with abrasive paper 1200P, however, Rz decreased by abrasive paper 1200P. A weight loss of up to 17% was observed in monolithic epoxy samples after the treatment with the abrasive papers. Both V-shaped and U-shaped notches were produced on the surfaces of the samples. The mechanical properties were significantly degraded due to surface notches mainly because of the associated stress concentration effect. The topographical features also influenced the dynamic mechanical properties and fracture mode.

Immunohistochemical Expression of Biomarkers and Human Papilloma Virus Infection in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Patients of Pakistan-HPV and Biomarkers in ESCC

Objective To determine HPV infection status and expression of p16, cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2), Cyclin D1 and epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) in ESCC patients of Pakistan. methods 51 ESCC patients treated at Aga Khan University Hospital(AKUH) were included. HPV infection status was confirmed via PCR while the expression of the four biomarkers was determined using immunohistochemistry. The correlation of all markers with patient clinicopathological features as well as each other was analyzed. Results HPV infection status and p16 overexpression was found to be negative in all the patients while COX-2, Cyclin D1 and EGFR were overexpressed in 56.9%, 62.7% and 49.0% of the patients respectively. COX-2 showed a significant correlation with tumor invasion while EGFR was shown to be significantly correlated with histological grading and COX-2 expression. Conclusion COX-2 and EGFR can be used as prognostic markers. HPV does not seem to be a causative agent for ESCC in Pakistan.
