This work constitutes the first contribution for the systematisation of geological heritage knowledge in portugal, following the international recommendations for the characterisation of geological heritage （IUGS, proGEO）. The application of the proGEO methodology has resulted in the creation of fourteen frameworks with international relevance, established by consensus among the portuguese geological community. The description of each category in this paper is not exhaustive and only the most relevant scientific settings are presented. The following are the three key outcomes of this work： i） At a national level, the most important geosites are identified, indicating where geoconservation efforts should be prioritised based on scientific justification; ii） At a regional level, conditions have been developed to foster dialogue with Spanish colleagues in order to create Iberian frameworks; iii） At an international level, it is now possible to integrate portuguese geosites into the global inventories promoted by IUGS, UNESCO, and proGEO.

Background: Genomic growth curves are general y defined only in terms of population mean; an alternative approach that has not yet been exploited in genomic analyses of growth curves is the Quantile Regression(QR). This methodology allows for the estimation of marker effects at different levels of the variable of interest. We aimed to propose and evaluate a regularized quantile regression for SNp marker effect estimation of pig growth curves, as well as to identify the chromosome regions of the most relevant markers and to estimate the genetic individual weight trajectory over time(genomic growth curve) under different quantiles(levels).Results: The regularized quantile regression(RQR) enabled the discovery, at different levels of interest(quantiles), of the most relevant markers al owing for the identification of QTl regions. We found the same relevant markers simultaneously affecting different growth curve parameters(mature weight and maturity rate): two(AlGA0096701 and AlGA0029483)for RQR(0.2), one(AlGA0096701) for RQR(0.5), and one(AlGA0003761) for RQR(0.8). Three average genomic growth curves were obtained and the behavior was explained by the curve in quantile 0.2, which differed from the ***: RQR allowed for the construction of genomic growth curves, which is the key to identifying and selecting the most desirable animals for breeding purposes. Furthermore, the proposed model enabled us to find, at different levels of interest(quantiles), the most relevant markers for each trait(growth curve parameter estimates) and their respective chromosomal positions(identification of new QTl regions for growth curves in pigs). These markers can be exploited under the context of marker assisted selection while aiming to change the shape of pig growth curves.

The Gurupi Belt,in north-northeastern Brazil,is a mobile belt developed in the south-southwestern margin of the Sao luis cratonic fragment and crops out as a tectonic and erosional window within the phanerozoic ***,petrographic,geochemical,geochronological,and Nd isotopic information(new and published)constrain the timing and types of magmatic associations present in the belt and the tectonic settings in which they *** Rhyacian was the main period of magmatic activity,which can be grouped into two main stages.(1)~2185-2130 ma:pre-collisional,juvenile,calc-alkaline magnesian and calcic ferroan granitoid suites,and minor calc-alkaline and tholeiitic mafic plutonism(now am.h.bolites),formed in intra-oceanic to transitional/continental arcs;and intra-or back-arc volcano-sedimentary basin.(2)~2125-2070 ma:syn-(two-mica granites)to late-collisional(potassic to shoshonitic granites and quartz-syenite)plutonic suites produced after crustal thickening and melting,with localized migmatization,that intruded during the compressive D1 deformational phase and concomitantly with greenschist to am.h.bolite *** is a zonation of the Rhyacian episodes,with intra-oceanic stages occurring to the northeast,and the continental arc and collisional phases occurring to the southwest,indicating the presence of an active continental margin to the southwest,and subduction from NE to SW(present-day configuration).This magmatic framework is a continuation to the south of what is described for the Sao luis cratonic fragment to the north,and the orogenic scenario is identical to what is observed for the same period in the West African Craton(Eburnean/Birrimian orogen),which additionally supports previous geological *** the Neoproterozoic,a few magmatic occurrences are *** extensional event allowed the intrusion of an anorogenic,nepheline syenite at ca.730 ma,which was followed by the intrusion of a crustal,calc-alkaline microtonalite,of uncertain

parkinson’s disease (pD) is a progressive degenerative condition that mainly affects the elderly. The disease comprises motor symptoms such as tremors at rest, loss of voluntary movement, decreased muscle strength, propensity to lean forward and acceleration of the walking pace. These signs are related to the degeneration of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway. patients also have non-motor symptoms, among which sleep alterations, cognitive deficits, fatigue, pain and depression stand out. Although depression has been described as the most prevalent non-motor symptom, it is not clear whether this mood disorder is due to pD or patients would already have a greater predisposition. The present study evaluated the relationship between the predisposition to depressive-like behavior and the development of motor alterations in a progressive pharmacological model of pD in mice. mice were classified into groups of depressive-like propensities and submitted to the pharmacological model. Reserpine was administrated at 0.1 mg/kg on alternate days for 40 days. The catalepsy and oral movement tests were used to evaluate motor alterations, the sucrose preference test was used to evaluate anhedonia, and the open field test was applied to evaluate general activity. Reserpine promoted parkinsonian motor impairments, and there were no differences between animals from different depressive-like behavior profiles. Thus, it was not possible to find a relationship between parkinsonism and the propensity to depression based on the basal sucrose preference test. more studies with other evaluations of depressive-like behavior are needed to confirm the results found in our study.

A search for the rare decay B^(0)→J/ψФis performed using pp collision data collected with the lhCb dete-ctor at centre-of-mass energies of 7,8 and 13 TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of9 *** significant signal of the decay is observed and an upper limitof 1.1x 10^(-7)at 90%confidence level is set on the branching fraction.

The first search for the doubly heavyΩ^(0)_(bc)baryon and a search for the E^(0)_(bc)baryon are performed using pp collision data collected via the lhCb experiment from 2016 to 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.2 fb^(-1).The baryons are reconstructed via their decays to Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)and E^(+)_(c)π^(-).No significant excess is fbund for invariant masses between 6700 and 7300 meV/c^(2),in a rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and a transverse momentum range from 2 to 20 meV/*** limits are set on the ratio of the Ω^(0)_(bc)and E^(0)_(bc)production cross-section times the branching fraction to Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(+)_(c)π^(-))relative to that of the Λ^(0)_(b)(E^(0)_(b))baryon,for different lifetime hypotheses,at 95%confidence *** upper limits range from 0.5 x 10^(-4)to 2.5 x 10^(-4)for theΩ^(0)_(bc)→Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(0)_(bc)→Λ^(+)_(c)π^(-))decay,and from 1.4x 10^(-3)to 6.9 x 10^(-3)for theΩ^(0)_(bc)→E^(+)_(c)π^(-)(E^(0)_(bc)→E^(+)_(c)π^(-))decay,depending on the considered mass and lifetime of theΩ^(0)_(bc)(E^(0)_(bc))baryon.

A search for the doubly charmed baryon ■^+cc is performed through its decay to theΛ^+c K^-π^+ final state,using proton-proton collision data collected with the lhCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7,8 and 13 *** data correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 9 fb^-*** significant signal is observed in the mass range from 3.4 to 3.8 GeV/c^*** limits are set at 95%credibility level on the ratio of the ■^+cc production cross-section times the branching fraction to that ofΛ^+c and ■^++cc *** limits are determined as functions of the ■^+cc mass for different lifetime hypotheses,in the rapidity range from 2.0 to 4.5 and the transverse momentum range from 4 to 15 GeV/c.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CovV-2)infection is associated with a hyperinflammatory state and lym.h.cytopenia,a hallmark that appears as both signature and prognosis of disease severity *** cytokine storm and a sustained inflammatory state are commonly associated with immune cell depletion,it is still unclear whether direct SARS-Cov-2 infection of immune cells could also play a role in this scenario by harboring viral *** found that monocytes,as well as both B and T lym.h.cytes,were susceptible to SARS-Cov-2 infection in vitro,accumulating double-stranded RNA consistent with viral RNA replication and ultimately leading to expressive T cell *** addition,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analysis revealed that SARS-Cov-2 was frequently detected in monocytes and B lym.h.cytes from coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)*** rates of SARS-Cov-2-infected monocytes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from CoVID-19 patients increased over time from symptom onset,with SARS-CoV-2-positive monocytes,B cells,and CD4+T lym.h.cytes also detected in postmortem lung *** results indicated that SARS-CoV-2 infection of blood-circulating leukocytes in covID-19 patients might have important implications for disease pathogenesis and progression,immune dysfunction,and virus spread within the host.
