many populations of the moustached Warbler (Acrocephalus melanopogon) have suffered a noticeable decrease over the last decades. This work has the aim of estimating the home range of the moustached Warbler and its habitat use during the reproductive season. We captured 11 males during the reproductive period with mist nets and marked them with radio transmitters. We determined the home range by calculating minimum convex polygon and kernel areas at 95% (home range) and 50% (core area). Then, to study the habitat use, we registered the proportion of the different vegetation types within these areas and carried out a compositional analysis to investigate if there is a detectable habitat preference. The results seem to indicate that the marked individuals did not show territorial behavior, given that the overlaps between home ranges and also the core areas were over 70%. The compositional analysis showed that A. melanopogon prefers tall and short reeds and mixed vegetation with rushes and bulrushes. Thus, maintaining heterogeneous and stratified vegetation would favor this species.

First-principles computation on the basis of density functional theory(DFT) is executed with the CASTEP code to explore the structural, elastic, and electronic properties along with Debye temperature and theoretical Vickers’ hardness of newly discovered ordered mAX phase carbide mo2TiAlC2. The computed structural parameters are very reasonable compared with the experimental results. The mechanical stability is verified by using the computed elastic constants. The brittleness of the compound is indicated by both the Poisson’s and Pugh’s ratios. The new mAX phase is capable of resisting the pressure and tension and also has the clear directional bonding between atoms. The compound shows significant elastic anisotropy. The Debye temperature estimated from elastic moduli(B, g) is found to be 413.6 K. The electronic structure indicates that the bonding nature of mo2TiAlC2is a mixture of covalent and metallic with few ionic characters. The electron charge density map shows a strong directional mo–C–mo covalent bonding associated with a relatively weak Ti–C *** calculated Fermi surface is due to the low-dispersive mo 4d-like bands, which makes the compound a conductive *** hardness of the compound is also evaluated and a high value of 9.01 gPa is an indication of its strong covalent bonding.

Schiff base monomers [2-（4-bromobenzylideneamino）phenol and 2-（4-bromobenzylideneamino）-5-methylphenol] were synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-bromobenzaldehyde with aromatic aminophenols. Then, the monomers were converted to their polyphenol derivatives by oxidative polycondensation reactions （OP） in an aqueous alkaline medium. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by solubility tests, FT-IR, NmR, Tg-DTA, DSC and SEC techniques. The HOmO-LUmO energy levels and electrochemical （E＇g） and optical （Eg） band gaps were calculated from cyclic voltammetry （CV） and UV-Vis measurements, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry （CV） was used to determine the electrochemical oxidation-reduction characteristics. Optical properties were investigated by UV-Vis and fluorescence analyses. Solid state electrical conductivities were measured on polymer films by four point probe technique using a Keithley 2400 electrometer. The effects of electron-donating （--CH3） group at p-position of --NH2 group in aminophenol on electrochemical and thermal properties were also discussed. Photoluminescence （PL） properties of the synthesized materials were determined in solution forms using different solvents. Fluorescence measurements were carried out in various concentrated solutions to determine the optimum concentrations to obtain the maximal PL intensities.

Objective Toxic metal ions have been implicated in the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO). metallothionines (mT) and plant flavonoids have been reported in the intervention against oxidative damage. We investigated the effect of zinc induced mT and green tea polyphenol (gTP) in reducing the oxidative responses induced by nickel and platinum. methods Zinc (10 mg/kg b. wt, sc) was administered to rats twice at a gap of 24hrs and gTP (10 mg/100 mL in drinking water) was fed ad libitum for 8 days. Nickel chloride (150 umol/***, ip) and cisplatin (50 mmol/kg ***, sc) was administered to rats 24 h after Zn or gTP pre-treatment. Animals of all the groups were sacrificed 16 hrs after treatment and biochemical markers for toxicity were monitored. Results Zinc or gTP pre-treatment caused significant protection against nickel or cisplatin enhanced mortality in rats, and reduction in lipid peroxidation and NO. Conclusion It is proposed that inhibition of ROS and NO by gTP and zinc may prove useful as a selective pharmacological agent in the amelioration of metal toxicity.

In the present study, the kinetics of thermal decomposition of hydrated minerals associated in natural hematite iron ores has been investigated in a fixed bed system using isothermal methods of kinetic analysis. Hydrated minerals in these hematite iron ores are kaolinite, gibbsite and goethite, which contribute to the loss on ignition(LOI) during thermal decomposition. Experiments in fixed bed have been carried out at variable bed depth(16, 32, 48 and 64 mm),temperature(400-1200 ℃) and residence time(30,45, 60 and 75 min) for iron ore samples. It is observed that beyond a certain critical bed depth(16 mm), 100% removal of LOI is not found possible even at higher temperature and higher residence time. most of the solid-state reactions of isothermal kinetic analysis have been used to analyze the reaction mechanism. The raw data are modified to yield fraction reacted "α" versus time and used for developing various forms of "α" functions.f(α) is the inverse of first derivative of g(α) with respect to α. The study demonstrates that decomposition of hydrated mineral in hematite follows the chemical *** estimated activation energy values in all the experimental situations are found to high, of the order of 60 kJ/mol, reinstating that the reactions are indeed controlled by moving phase boundary and random nucleation.

This paper is devoted to the existence and the uniqueness of the entropy solution for a general scalar conservation law associated with a forced bilateral obstacle condition in a bounded domain of Rp, p>= 1. The method of penalization is used with a view to obtaining an existence result. However, the former only gives uniform L -estimates and so leads in fact to look for an Entropy measure-Valued Solution, according to the specific properties of bounded sequences in L . The uniqueness of this EmVS is proved. Classically, it first ensures the existence of a bounded and measurable function U entropy solution and then the strong convergence in Lq of approximate solutions to U.

The first experimental measurements of intense(～7 × 1019 W cm-2) laser-driven terahertz(THz) radiation from a solid target which is preheated by an intense pulse of laser-accelerated protons is reported. The total energy of the THz radiation is found to decrease by approximately a factor of 2 compared to a cold target reference. This is attributed to an increase in the scale length of the preformed plasma, driven by proton heating, at the front surface of the target,where the THz radiation is generated. The results show the importance of controlling the preplasma scale length for THz production.

Baled timothy hay underwent testing at a hay processing plant in Canada to determine if mechanical compression(rebaling)could be used as a disinfestation protocol for Hessian fly(mayetiola destructor(Say))*** sensitive films were randomly placed throughout the hay material,on the chamber walls,and in different orientations,to assess the hay compaction unit’s ability to induce the required pressure to crash a Hessian fly puparium in the *** to the pressure films were organdy cages containing wheat seedlings infested with Hessian fly *** variables which were tested included the hold time(0.5 and 2.0 s),applied pressure(10.34 and 12.41 mPa),and timothy hay quality(low-moisture first cut,high-moisture first cut and high-moisture second cut hay).A total of 36 tests were *** each test,10 Hessian fly cages and 10 pressure sensitive films were *** test cage contained approximately 168.56 Hessian fly puparia,translating into a total Hessian fly count of 60681 for the entire field *** of the pressure sensitive films showed that 100%of the hay experienced at least 200 kPa(29 psi)of *** the 75-day post experiment emergence period,0.0066%of the puparia survived,which may be due to the fact that the emerged puparia might have not been crushed and not subjected to a pressure of at least 20.6 *** applied pressures affected Hessian fly emergence by considerably reducing the number of puparia that ***,Hessian fly emerged from one of the cages in two *** of the Hessian fly puparia were destroyed irrespective of the applied pressure,hold time or hay quality.

Objective Localization of the glutathione dependent Nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reductase in fresh frozen sections of mouse skin and possible dependence of NBT reductase on tissue thiol levels has been investigated. methods The fresh frozen tissue sections (8m thickness) were prepared and incubated in medium containing NBT, reduced glutathione (gSH) and phosphate buffer. The staining for gSH was performed with mercury orange. Results The activity of the NBT-reductase in mouse skin has been found to be localized in the areas rich in glutathione and actively proliferating area of the skin. Conclusion The activity of the NBT-reductase seems to be dependent on the glutathione contents.
