Predictors of renal angioembolization outcome:A retrospective analysis with 148 patients at a tertiary urology institute

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictor of unsuccessful outcome of renal angioembolization(RAE).Knowing those predictors may help in avoiding unnecessary RAE procedures and their associated side effects,while helping to prepare for an alternate procedure and improving patient's overall ***:A retrospective analysis between January 2006 and December 2018 was performed,and the indications for RAE were classified into post-traumatic,iatrogenic,renal tumors,and *** who underwent RAE prior to nephrectomy were *** tomography angiography was performed in patients with normal renal function and those who had no contrast allergy,otherwise magnetic resonance angiography was *** the purpose of statistical analysis,we stratified patients into two main categories based on the final outcome—successful or ***:Of 180 patients,32 with negative angiography were eliminated,leaving 148 patients;136(91%)had successful outcomes after one or more trials and 12 had unsuccessful *** mean age was 45±15 years,and 105(71%)were *** gender,side of the lesion,presence of hematuria,indication for RAE,nor the type of lesion affected the *** the other hand,renal anatomy with presence of accessory artery was the only predictor to failed RAE(p=0.001).Failed RAE trial was a predictor for nephrectomy as a secondary procedure(p=0.03).Conclusion:No pre-procedural predictors could anticipate the RAE outcome,and different indications can be scheduled to RAE,which is equally *** presence of accessory renal artery on diagnostic angiography is the only factor that may predict the failure of the procedure.

Performance Evaluation of One-Way Concrete Slabs Reinforced with New Developed GFRP Bars

The incorporation of fiber-reinforced-polymer (FRP) bars in construction as a replacement to steel bars provides a superior material which is capable to overcome corrosion problems. However, serviceability requirements are important issues to be considered in the design of concrete elements reinforced with glass-FRP (GFRP) bars which are known to have larger deflections and wider crack widths as well as weaker bond compared with steel reinforced concrete. As a solution to this problem, square GFRP bars are proposed. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation that was performed, in which newly developed square and circular GFRP bars were fabricated in the lab. Also, the GFRP bars were tested and used to reinforce concrete slabs. A total of nine full-scale GFRP-reinforced concrete (RC) one-way slabs were constructed, tested and analyzed, considering the most influencing parameters such as the cross sectional shape of GFRP bars, reinforcement ratio, the concrete characteristics strength, and adding polypropylene fibers to the concrete mixture. The test results were showed that, the tested slabs with GFRP square bars improved the deflection and cracking behavior as well as the ultimate load.

In the 3 D free bending forming system,the bending die can be designed either in a sliding type or rolling friction *** die-based sliding friction type is often called normal bending dies;however,the bending dies-based rolling friction type includes bending die-based roller type and ball type in *** the current study,the impact of three bending dies on the forming force,and the bent tube quality was *** obtained results showed that the tangential stresses and strains of the tubes formed by the bending die-based roller type were the smallest among the three bending ***,the spherical bearing force PUwas reduced drastically after using the roller type and ball type compared to the sliding friction ***,the uniformity of the wall thickness distribution of the tubes formed by the roller type and ball type was better than those obtained from the sliding friction *** addition,the cross-section distortion rate was reduced by 2.8%using the roller type,and 1.8%using ball-type compared to the sliding friction type.

Comparison of hypotensive,diuretic and renal effects between cladodes of Opuntia ficus-indica and furosemide

Objective: To investigate the diuretic, hypotensive and renal effect of Opuntia ficusindica in two different species in oral and intravenous ***: Diuretic activity was evaluated in rats with the plant cladode gel and aqueous extract administrated orally, and was evaluated in rabbits with plant extract administered intravenously. Single and repeated doses of cladode gel or aqueous extract of cladode were tested. Urine volume and blood and urine creatinine, sodium and potassium were measured, and creatinine clearance was calculated. The hypotensive effect of lyophilized extract of cladode was evaluated in rabbits. Two polyethylene PE50 catheters were used:one in the jugular vein for the infusion of the plant extract and the other in the carotid for the evaluation of the arterial ***: The cladode gel or aqueous extract increased urine volume, creatinine clearance and urinary excretion of sodium and potassium without significant effect on serum creatinine or blood urea. Furosemide, gel and aqueous extract of cladode insignificantly lowered plasma potassium in rats. Intravenous administration of the lyophilized extract caused a significant decrease in mean arterial pressure in rabbits with a significant increase in urine volume and urine sodium and potassium; the effect was dose *** administration of lyophilized extract did not affect plasma sodium or ***: Gel and aqueous extract of Opuntia ficus-indica cladode have a significant diuretic effect on rats, and the lyophilized extract has a diuretic and hypotensive effect on normotensive rabbits without deterioration in renal function test. Additional studies on active ingredients are essential to pave the way for clinical studies on diuretic and hypotensive effect of the plant.

Prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease in Relatives of Chronic Hemodialysis Patients

Objectives: To estimate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in first and second degree relatives of Hemodialysis patients. Background: Early detection and intervention of chronic kidney disease (CKD) may prevent or delay the progression and achieve improved patient outcomes. Family members of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients are considered as a high-risk population for CKD. The aim of this work is to screen and estimate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in first and second degree relatives of hemodialysis patients. methods: This is an observational prospective study carried out in Nephrology Unit, Internal medicine Department, menoufia University Hospital during January 2019 to January 2020. First and second degree relatives of ESRD were included. Relatives with known CKD risk factors or relative to ESRD with known hereditary disease were excluded. Serum creatinine and estimated eGFR, albumin creatinine ratio (ACR) and abdominal ultrasound were done twice with 3 months apart to screen for CKD. Results: 321 persons from first and second degree relatives of chronic hemodialysis patients were included. CKD prevalence was 5.6% Comparison between CKD group and non CKD showed no statistically significant difference as regard age, Gender, Smoking, BmI, and degree of relatives. There were highly significant difference between the studied groups as regard serum creatinine, bloodurea, eGFR and ACR. Relatives of ESRD patients of unknown etiology showed highly significant difference to develop CKD (44.4%) compared to non CKD group 11.5% with P value Conclusions: Prevalence of CKD in relatives—without any CKD risk factors—to ESRD was 5.6%. Family members of ESRD should be screened for CKD, especially relatives to ESRD of unknown etiology.

To address the deficient activity of TrCel5A in naturally secreted cellulase preparation,this study used the GAP promoter to induce constitutive expression of Trichoderma reesei TrCel5A in Pichia pastoris.A recombinant TrCel5A was screened out after gene optimization,synthesis,and *** biochemical and enzymatic properties of the new recombinant were *** a result,optimization of shake-flask fermentation of the recombinant was obtained at 28℃,2%inoculum volume,an initial pH of 6.0,as well as glycerol and Tween-80 additions of 30 g/L and 6 g/L,*** the above-optimized conditions,the recombinant produced 14.8 U/mL of the enzyme activity at 96 h of *** further enhance enzyme production,pilot-scale cultivation was evaluated using 5-L *** high-cell-density fermentation,the recombinant strain increased enzyme activity to 130.4 U/ml and protein content to 2.49 g/*** addition,the kinetic factors,including K_(m) and V_(max) values for TrCel5A,were detected to be 5.1 mg/mL and 265.9μmol/(***),***,TrCel5A was effectively expressed in *** under the GAP promoter,and it demonstrated its potential in commercially relevant enzyme hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass.

Objective:Early treatment of acute ischemia of the heart by performing immediate percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)to restore blood fl ow in patients with the clinical presentation of an acute coronary syndrome and more specifi cally with ST-elevation myocardial infarction(STEmI)can save *** study aims to identify the mean time(door to balloon time and fi rst contact to balloon time)to primary PCI for STEmI patients and to assess the percentage of primary PCI and its success rate in ***:A registry study of patients presenting to cardiac centers in Egypt was designed,where patients’basic characteristics,the treatment strategy,and the door to balloon time and the fi rst contact to balloon time were ***:One thousand six hundred fi fty STEmI patients with a mean age of 57 years were included in the *** transfer for primary PCI was the most used treatment strategy,representing 74.6%of all treatment strategies *** door to balloon time and the fi rst contact to balloon time were 50 and 60 minutes,respectively,with a primary PCI success rate of 65.1%.Conclusion:The registry study results showed a marked improvement by implementation of the best treatment strategy with respect to the time factor to achieve a better outcome for STEmI patients in Egypt.

Heating rate effects for the melting transition of Pt-Ag-Au nanoalloys

The classical molecular dynamics simulations in canonical NVT ensemble conditions are used to investigate the melting transition in different heating rates of Pt-Ag-Au ternary *** order to obtain the initial configurations used in the molecular dynamics simulations,optimizing the chemical ordering of Pt_(13)AgnAu_(42−n)(n=0-42)ternary nanoalloys was performed using the Basin-Hopping algorithm which would not allow changes in the icosahedron *** Gupta many-body potential was used to model interatomic interactions in both molecular dynamics simulations and optimization *** melting transitions of selected Pt-Ag-Au nanoalloys were explored using caloric curves and Lindemann *** have been two identified types of melting mechanisms,one includes sudden jump behavior in the caloric curve and the other is an isomerization while melting *** temperature range in which the isomerization takes place depends on the heating rate value.

Prenylated flavonoids from Tephrosia apollinea

In continuation of our chemical investigation on some medicinal plants of the genus Tephrosia, re-investigation of the methylenechloride/methanol （1：1） extract of the air-dried aerial part of Tephrosia apollinea afforded a new prenylated flavonoid 1, in addition to an aromatic ester, a sesquiterpene, a lignan and several known prenylated flavonoids. The structures were established by （^1H NmR, ^13C NmR, DEPT, ^1H-^1H COSY, HmQC, HmBC, NOESY and HRmS）. Relative configurations of 9 and 10 were confirmed by X-ray analysis.
