Buckling and large deflection behaviors of radially functionally graded ring-stiffened circular plates with various boundary conditions

The buckling and large deflection behaviors of axis-symmetric radially functionally graded （RFG） ring-stiffened circular plates are investigated by the dynamic relaxation （DR） method combined with the finite difference discretization technique. The material properties of the constituent components of the RFG plate are assumed to vary continuously according to the mori-Tanalka distribution along the radial direction. The nonlinear governing equations are obtained in the incremental form based on the firstorder shear deformation plate theory （FSDT） and the von Karman relations for large deflection. In the buckling analysis, an external in-plane load is applied to the plate in- crementally so that, in each load-step, the incremental form of the governing equations can be solved by a numerical code prepared based on the DR method. After converging the DR code in the first increment, the latter load-step is added to the previous one, and the program is repeated again. The critical buckling load is determined from the compressive load-displacement curve obtained by solving the incremental form of the governing equations. Based on the present incremental form of formulation, a bending analysis can also be conducted if the whole load is applied simultaneously. Finally, a detailed parametric study is carried out to investigate the influences of various boundary conditions, grading indices, thickness-to-radius ratios, stiffener＇s positions and depths on the critical buckling load, and displacements and stresses resulted from the bending analysis. It is observed that the effect of the stiffener on the results is much greater in the functionally graded plate with higher material grading indices. The results also reveal that, by increasing the depth of the stiffer, the values of ascending the critical buckling load are approximately identical for both simply supported and clamped boundary conditions.

Effect of glycerol on densification of agricultural biomass

Experiments were conducted to verify the effect of adding glycerol for pelleting of selected agricultural crop residues,namely,wheat,barley,oat and canola *** pelleting tests were conducted to study the effect of biomass type,hammer mill screen size,and crude glycerol content(co-product of biodiesel industry)on pellet quality(density and durability),ash content and gross heat of *** types of biomass were ground at three different hammer mill screen sizes of 6.4,3.2 and 1.6 *** biomass was mixed with three levels of glycerol of 2.5%,5.0%and 7.5% by *** were made at a pre-set load of 4400 N(138.9 mPa)using single-pelleting unit attached to an Instron testing *** of pellets was determined by measuring pellet density,relaxed density,durability(measured by pellet drop test)and specific energy required to make a *** gross heat of combustion and ash content of pellets were also determined and *** highest pellet density(988-1133 kg/m^(3))and relaxed density(992-1142 kg/m^(3))were obtained from biomass ground using a hammer mill screen size of 6.4 mm.A decrease in hammer mill screen size resulted in reduced *** highest durability of biomass obtained from hammer mill screen size of 6.4 mm ranged from 97%-100%.Addition of glycerol resulted in lower ash content in majority of *** highest gross heat of combustion was observed in pellets made from wheat straw with 7.5% glycerol content(38.3 mJ/kg).Addition of glycerol resulted in lower pellet densities,lower ash content,no change in durability and higher gross heating values.

Diversity and frequency of Nocardia *** the soil of Isfahan province,Iran

Objective:To isolate and identify Nocardiaspp. from soil in different regions of Isfahan province in the center of ***:This study was conducted in 32 districts(16 cities and 16 villages)in Isfahan province during two years. A total of 800 soil samples from these regions were studied by using kanamycin. The isolated Nocardiaspecies were examined by gram and acid-fast staining and were identified biochemically and morphologically. The frequency and distribution of Nocardia spp. were determined in relation to different factors such as soil pH and temperate ***:From 153(19.1%)Nocardiaisolates identified,Nocardia asteroids(N. asteroids)complex(45.5%) andNocardia brasiliensis(N. brasiliensis)(24.7%) were the most frequently isolated species, followed by Nocardia otitidiscaviarum (2.2%),Nocardiopsis dassonvillei,Actinom adura actinomadura(each 1.7%) and Nocardia transvalensis(1.1%) and also unknown spp.(23.0%). In this study, most species(54.4%) of Nocardia, especially N. asteroides complex were isolated fromsoils with pH: 7.01-8, whereas in pH: 8.01-9 more N. brasiliensis was isolated. The most Nocardia spp. was detected from regions with semi-nomadic and temperate climate(41.1%).Conclusions:N. asteroids complex is more prevalent in Isfahan province and soil can be a potential source of nocardiosis infections. It is to be considering that climate and soil pH are involved in the frequency and diversity of aerobic Actinomy cetes.

Combined effect of micro silica with clay, and gypsum as mulches on shear strength and wind erosion rate of sands

mulching is known as one of the fastest strategies to control wind erosion and sand dunes *** hypothesized that mixed micro silica with clay,gypsum and clay-gypsum as mulches will increase shear strength,threshold friction velocity and decrease soil losses of drifting *** this purpose,mixture of micro silica rates (0,1,5,10,15 and 20%) with clay,gypsum,and clay-gypsum applied on sand *** 60 days of mulching,shear strength,the threshold friction velocity and soil losses at a wind speed of 15 m/S at the height of 20 cm for 20 *** results of this research revealed that the addition of 10% of micro silica in combination with clay and clay-gypsum increased the shear strength up to 10.6 and 37.5% and the threshold friction velocity up to 45.2 and 48.5%,respectively and decreased soil losses up to 100% in comparison with the samples without micro *** micro silica to gypsum had no considerable effect on shear strength,threshold friction velocity and soil *** was concluded that no pozzolanic reaction occurred between micro silica and gypsum and it was found that improvement in mechanical property and erodibility of clay-gypsum mulch was probably due to the pozzolanic reaction between micro silica and *** of 10% of micro silica in combination with clay or clay-gypsum is therefore recommended as suitable mulch.

Promising antileishmanial effectiveness of doxorubicin and Doxil against Leishmania major:An in vitro assay

Objective: To evaluate the effect of doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation(Doxil, Caelyx) on in vitro susceptibility of promastigote and amastigote stages of Leishmania major. methods: Throughout in vitro assays the IC50 was calculated in the promastigotes and amastigotes forms in J774 macrophage cell line. Also as cytotoxicity in J774 cell line macrophages. Results: Doxorubicin and Doxil showed the same activity against promastigote form with IC50 values of 10.49 μg/m L and 9.63 μg/m L, respectively. Similarly, the amastigote stage was susceptible at concentration of at least 1 μg/m L when compared to positive control(Pmacrophage revealed no toxicity on the host cells at IC50 concentrations. Conclusions: Our findings demonstrated the efficacy of both doxorubicin and its pegylated liposomal formulation on Leishmania major at low concentrations. Further researches are needed for evaluating the safety of drugs in animal model particularly as topical formulation.

Geology of the Aftabrou Polymetallic Deposit, Saveh, Iran

Aftabrou polymetallic prospect is located at the contact of Oligo-miocene calcalkaline granodioritic to dioritic and Eocene andesitic to basaltic volcanic complex in middle section of Urumiyeh-Dokhtar volcanic arc in NW of Saveh city. Petrographic study indicated that the volcanic rocks are mostly: lava and tuff. Composition of lavas is mainly andesite and tuffs are mainly composed of dacite to rhyodacite. major phenocrysts in these rocks are plagioclase, clinopyroxene, hornblende and opac minerals. Petrographic and geochemical studies indicated an I-type granitoid and, calcalkaline magmatism associated with continental margin of subduction zone. This study determined three mineralization subzones of 0.2% - 5.3% Cu, 0.02 - 1.31 ppm Au and 1.2% - 3.9% Zn. Fluid inclusion studies on quartzic veins associated with magmatism, demonstrated that homogenization temperatures of this mineralization fluid are between 170°C to 330°C, the salinity of the system is between 11.7 to 23.5 weight percent, density of this fluid is 0.8 - 1.1 g/cm3 and is occurred in depth of less than 1800 m of surface. Fluid inclusion studies suggested that formation of mineral deposit is simple cooling and mixing with atmospheric water and type of Aftabrou deposit is IOCG. In this base, it is assumed that this IOCG mineralization is occurred associate with magmatism that is formed as a result of Neo-Tethys oceanic subduction beneath the Central Iran zone which is replaced in the Orumieh-Dokhtar magmatic arc.

Phonophoresis of dexamethasone sodium phosphate may manage pain and symptoms of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is thought to be due to entrapment of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel at the wrist. Conservative treatments for CTS include rest, splinting, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) , oral or injected steroids, ultrasound and laser therapy. Studies of iontophoresis and phonophoresis as methods to deliver steroids have produced mixed findings. This study was designed to compare the efficacy of iontophoresis and phonophoresis delivery of dexamethasone for patients with CTS. mETHODS:This randomized trial included 34 right-handed patients with CTS, with symptoms of at least one month in duration. Of these, 18 patients had bilateral disease. The participants were randomized to receive either iontophores is (group A) or phonophoresis (group B) delivery of dexamethasone sodium phosphate 0.4%. The medication was applied over the wrist for five minutes, five days per week, for two weeks. Outcome measures for each wrist consisted of a visual analogue scale of pain, pinch strength, hand grip strength and electrodiagnostie test ing. measurements were performed before and after treatment and again at four-week follow-up. RESULTS:measures of finger pinch and hand grip strength were significantly improved in both groups, with the mean changes higher among those treated in group B both at treatment end and at four-week follow-up (P = 0. 0002 and P = 0. 008 respectively). Electrodiagnostic studies revealed that motor distal latency decreased in both groups, with mean changes significantly greater in group B at both treatment end and four-week followup. CONCLUSION:This study of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome demonstrates that delivery of dexamethasone through phonophoresis is more effective than delivery by iontophoresis in reducing pain and dysfunction associated with this syndrome.
