Constructing a biofunctionalized 3D-printed gelatin/sodium alginate/chitosan tri-polymer complex scaffold with improvised biological andmechanical properties for bone-tissue engineering

Sodium alginate(SA)/chitosan(CH)polyelectrolyte scaffold is a suitable substrate for tissue-engineering *** present study deals with further improvement in the tensile strength and biological properties of this type of scaffold to make it a potential template for bone-tissue *** experimented with adding 0%–15%(volume fraction)gelatin(GE),a protein-based biopolymer known to promote cell adhesion,proliferation,and *** resulting tri-polymer complex was used as bioink to fabricate SA/CH/GEmatrices by three-dimensional(3D)*** studies using scanning electron microscopy revealed the microfibrous porous architecture of all the structures,which had a pore size range of 383–419μm.X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analyses revealed the amorphous nature of the scaffold and the strong electrostatic interactions among the functional groups of the polymers,thereby forming polyelectrolyte complexes which were found to improve mechanical properties and structural *** scaffolds exhibited a desirable degradation rate,controlled swelling,and hydrophilic characteristics which are favorable for bone-tissue *** tensile strength improved from(386±15)to(693±15)kPa due to the increased stiffness of SA/CH scaffolds upon addition of *** enhanced protein adsorption and in vitro bioactivity(forming an apatite layer)confirmed the ability of the SA/CH/GE scaffold to offer higher cellular adhesion and a bone-like environment to cells during the process of tissue *** vitro biological evaluation including the mTT assay,confocal microscopy analysis,and alizarin red S assay showed a significant increase in cell attachment,cell viability,and cell proliferation,which further improved biomineralization over the scaffold *** addition,SA/CH containing 15%gelatin designated as SA/CH/GE15 showed superior performance to the other fabricated 3D structures,demonstrating its pote

Enhanced saturation magnetization in La^(3+) doped NiCo ferrites prepared by sol-gel auto-combustion method

Lanthanum doped nickel-cobalt nano ferrites with chemical formula Ni_(0.5)Co_(0.5)LaxFe_(2-x)O_(4)(x=0.05,0,10,0.15 and 0,20) were prepared using a simple sol-gel auto combustion *** basic structural properties were determined by X-ray diffraction method and the formation of single phased spinel ferrite was *** crystalline size decreased from 25 to 11 nm and lattice parameter a increases with increase of La *** surface morphology of these ferrites was observed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEm) and agglomerated irregular grains are observed with increase of the rare earth element La ***-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) result confirms the presence of the required *** Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) spectrum indicates the formation of the spinel ferrite structure with m-O *** direct band measurements from ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis) spectroscopy indicate that the direct band gap decreases from 1.39 to 1.19 eV for x=0.05 to x=0.15,then increases to 1.28 eV for x=*** room temperature magnetic properties of these ferrites were studied by a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSm).The enhanced saturation magnetization of 49.73 emu/g is observed for x=0.10 and then saturation magnetizations are gradually decreased for x=0.15 and x=*** the remanent magnetization and coercivity also follow the same trend.

Nano-engineered catalysts for high-performance oxygen reduction reaction

The efficient energy conversion of fuel cells is greatly constrained by the slow oxygen reduction reac tion （ORR） kinetics,which necessitates the use of highly active metal catalysts such as platinum （Pt）.The critical challenge limiting large-scale usage of Pt is the capital cost that can be addressed through a pro totypical approach by embedding metal nanoparticles （NPs）,e.g.,Pt NPs,in the conductive framework However,previously reported embedding approaches are sophisticated and suffer from limited yields leading to higher chemical process costs and remaining distant from commercial ***,we re port a facile,cost-effective and time-efficient structural tuning approach to synthesizing ultrafine Pt NP impregnated within a conductive and highly porous carbon framework via a microwave-assisted polyo reduction *** NPs with a uniform size of～2.27 nm can be successfully integrated within the pore of the carbon framework,enabling homogeneous *** from these highly dispersed and ultrafine Pt NPs,the electrochemical surface area （ECSA） is improved to 142.98 m2/gPt,2.25 times highe than that of the commercial counterpart (63.52 m2/gPt).Furthermore,our structurally optimized catalys composite features a remarkably catalytic activity with a high half-wave potential (E1/2) of 0.895 V and an improved mass activity （mA） of 0.2289 A/mgPt,2.39-fold improvement compared to the commercia *** addition,orthogonal experiments were designed to identify the key process parameter for fabricating Pt/C catalysts,offering insights for scaled-up and industrial production.

Steady rotation of a composite sphere in a concentric spherical cavity

The problem of steady rotation of a composite sphere located at the centre of a spherical container has been investigated. A composite particle referred to in this paper is a spherical solid core covered with a permeable spherical shell. The Brinkman＇s model for the flow inside the compos- ite sphere and the Stokes equation for the flow in the spheri- cal container were used to study the motion. The torque ex- perienced by the porous spherical particle in the presence of cavity is obtained. The wall correction factor is calculated. In the limiting cases, the analytical solution describing the torque for a porous sphere and for a solid sphere in an un- bounded medium are obtained from the present analysis.

The Crystal Structure Study of CaSrFe_0.75Co_0.75mn_0.5O_6−δ by Neutron Diffraction

The crystal structure of CaSrFe0.75Co0.75mn0.5O6−δ is investigated through neutron diffraction techniques in this study. The material is synthesized using a solid-state synthesis method at a temperature of 1200˚C. Neutron diffraction data is subjected to Rietveld refinement, and a comparative analysis with X-ray diffraction (XRD) data is performed to unravel the structural details of the material. The findings reveal that the synthesized material exhibits a cubic crystal structure with a Pm-3m phase. The neutron diffraction results offer valuable insights into the arrangement of atoms within the lattice, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the material’s structural properties. This research enhances our knowledge of CaSrFe0.75Co0.75mn0.5O6−δ, with potential implications for its applications in various technological and scientific domains.

In this study,the antioxidant activity of soursop flowers extract in delaying palm olein oxidation at frying temperature was *** oil was supplemented with the extract at concentrations 200–1800 ppm,and stored in the oven at 180◦C for 6 days(4 h heating per day).Palm olein containing butylated hydroxytoluene(BHT)served as positive control while the same oil without antioxidant(Control)served as negative one,in order to monitor changes in *** each two heating days,oil samples were collected,and their chemical indexes were ***,para-anisidine,TOTOX,thiobarbituric acid and iodine values were the parameters ***,the evolution of the fatty acid composition of each oil sample during the storage was assessed by gas-chromatography using a flame ionization detector(GC/FID).Generally,palm olein samples containing the natural extract have exhibited the lowest rate of oxidation,and were efficient in limiting the destruction of unsaturated fatty acids in oil at frying *** order of effectiveness in inhibiting oil oxidation was the following:PO+Anm1800ppm>PO+Anm1400ppm>PO+Anm1000ppm>PO+An.m600ppm>PO+An.m200ppm>PO+BHT200ppm=*** these results,it can be concluded that soursop flowers are a potent sources of natural antioxidants for stabilization of palm olein.
