Heavily doped colloidal plasmonic nanocrystals have attracted great attention because of their lower and adjustable free carrier densities and tunable localized surface plasmonic resonance bands in the spectral range from near-infra to mid-infra *** its plasmon-enhanced optical nonlinearity,this new family of plasmonic materials shows a huge potential for nonlinear optical applications,such as ultrafast switching,nonlinear sensing,and pulse laser ***3-xP nanocrystals were previously shown to have a strong saturable absorption at the plasmonic resonance,which enabled high-energy Q-switched fiber lasers with 6.1μs pulse *** work demonstrates that both high-quality mode-locked and Q-switched pulses at 1560 nm can be generated by evanescently incorporating two-dimensional(2D)Cu3-xP nanocrystals onto a D-shaped optical fiber as an effective saturable *** 3 dB bandwidth of the mode-locking optical spectrum is as broad as 7.3 nm,and the corresponding pulse duration can reach 423 *** repetition rate of the Q-switching pulses is higher than 80 ***,the largest pulse energy is more than 120μ*** that laser characteristics are highly stable and repeatable based on the results of over 20 *** work may trigger further investigations on heavily doped plasmonic 2D nanocrystals as a next-generation,inexpensive,and solution-processed element for fascinating photonics and optoelectronics applications.

The mass concentrations of eighteen airborne samples collected from Lahore (Pakistan) are found in the range from 595 to 3027μg/m3with average value of 1130 μg/m3. most of these values are normal and as reported in the literature for other parts of the world. The major phases identified in the samples by the X-ray powder diffraction technique are Albite (Anorthite), Calcite, Clinochlore (Chlorite), Gypsum, Illite, Quartz and Talc which have also been reported by other researchers to be present in the airborne particulates of other world locations. The average weight percentages of the phases (minerals) in the samples are respectively 15.5, 10.6, 23.7, 2.4, 19.1, 20.2, and 8.5. Some of the elements (e.g., boron, cadmium, lithium, manganese, titanium, and zinc) quantified in two samples determined using a spark-source mass spectrometer appear also to derive their origin from man-made activities. However no compound synthesized in the atmosphere is detected by the X-ray diffraction method.

通过等温氧化及循环氧化实验研究了活性元素Sc对CoNiCrAl合金高温氧化动力学、氧化层/基体界面结合力的影响。在1150℃温度下进行了100次1 h循环氧化实验及5,30,50,640,1000 h等温氧化实验。结果表明:添加活性元素Sc能明显降低氧化膜的生长速度,改善氧化层/基体界面结合力,Sc元素添加量的不同对合金高温氧化行为的影响也不同。等温氧化中,原始合金的氧化速率常数为2.5×10-5μm2·s-1,添加0.1%Sc(原子分数,下同)的合金的氧化速率常数降低到原始合金的22.2%,添加0.2%Sc元素的合金的氧化速率常数降低到原始合金的44.4%。原始合金经过5 h等温氧化后的剥落比例就达到35%,经过30 h等温氧化后剥落比例达到95%;添加Sc元素之后,在氧化时间低于640 h时,氧化层的最大剥落比例为11.6%;当氧化时间达到1000 h时,添加0.1%Sc元素的合金的氧化层剥落比例增加到23.6%,添加0.2%Sc元素的氧化层剥落比例增加到68.5%。在循环氧化实验中,原始合金在循环氧化实验中经过1次循环之后重量就出现下降,而添加0.1%Sc及0.2%Sc元素的合金分别经过25和53次循环之后重量才开始下降。相对于原始合金在循环氧化过程中观察到的氮化现象,添加Sc元素的合金基体组织完好,没有受到破坏。

Wild cotton species can contribute a valuable gene pool for agronomically desirable cultivated tetraploid cultivars. In order to exploit diploid cotton a regeneration system is required to achieve transformation based goals. The present studies aimed at optimizing the conditions for regeneration of local varieties as well as wild species of cotton. Different callus induction media were tested with varying concentrations of hormones in which sucrose was used as nutritional source. Different explants (hypo-cotyls, cotyledon, root) were used to check the regeneration of both local cotton plants and wild relatives using T & G medium, BAP medium, CIm medium, EmmS medium, and cell suspension medium. Different stages of embryogenicity such as early torpedo stage, late torpedo stage, heart stage, globular stage and cotyledonary stage were observed in wild relatives of cotton. The results of this study pave the way for establishing future transformation methods.

Purpose: To assess surgical success rate of placing dental implants in the atrophic posterior maxilla engaging the maxillary sinus floor in patients with inadequate posterior maxillary alveolar bone height (PmABH). methods: 26 patients with PmABH of 7 - 10 mm had 39 implants placed between July 2012 and June 2014. These implants were placed protruding apically 1 - 3 mm into the maxillary sinus engaging the sinus floor. At stage one, implants and cover screws were placed, followed by stage two, 5 - 6 months later. The implants were considered osseo-integrated in the absence of symptoms, mobility and inflammation. Periapical radiographs were taken to rule out peri-implant radiolucency. Restorative treatment was completed 2 months thereafter. Patients were scheduled to have a dental exam (6 - 12 months after delivery of prosthesis) and the implants were evaluated clinically and radiographically. A retrospective review was conducted to assess the surgical success rate of this treatment modality. Clinic charts, radiographs and digital implant log were reviewed for all patients with PmABH of 7 - 10 mm who received dental implants in the posterior maxilla to determine the success rate of this treatment modality. Results: 26 patients who had 39 implants placed were included in the study. All implants (100%) were osseo-integrated at the time of uncovering (stage 2). None of the implants (0%) had mobility or inflammation around them. Stage 2 was successfully performed on all 39 implants (100%). All implants (100%) in these patients had been restored, and were in good condition without mobility or inflammation, and had been functioning well 6 - 12 months after restoration. Conclusion: This study suggests that a high success rate can be attained placing dental implants in the posterior maxilla while perforating and engaging the cortical maxillary sinus floor. In this paper, we have used the distributed mean value analysis (DmVA) technique with the help of random observe property (ROP) and palm probabilities to improve the network queuing system throughput. In such networks, where finding the complete communication path from source to destination, especially when these nodes are not in the same region while sending data between two nodes. So, an algorithm is developed for single and multi-server centers which give more interesting and successful results. The network is designed by a closed queuing network model and we will use mean value analysis to determine the network throughput (b) for its different values. For certain chosen values of parameters involved in this model, we found that the maximum network throughput for β≥0.7?remains consistent in a single server case, while in multi-server case for β≥ 0.5?throughput surpass the marko chain queuing system.

Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy for Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Bladder： A Single Centre Experience

Urothelial cancers usually recur distantly rather than loco-regionally. In patients with pT2 and pT3/pT4 tumors, local recurrence has been observed in 3-4% and 11-16%, respectively, whereas distant failure has occurred in 10-27% and 19-35%, respectively. Despite local therapy most patients with muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma （TCC） of the bladder die of systemic relapse, indicating a need for effective adjunctive systemic treatment. We determined whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy improved overall survival. This study evaluated the role of neoadjuvant combination chemotherapy with gemcitabine/cisplatin （GC） in improving the outcome of this group of patients. A total of 44 patients （84% male, 16% Female） with newly diagnosed bladder cancer （T3-4, N0-2, m0） were subjected to initial 3 cycles of GC, then managed according to response. Patients were assessed clinically after each cycle and by Interim CT scan after 3 cycles of chemotherapy and those who achieved complete or partial response underwent radical cystectomy. We enrolled 63 patients, 19 of whom were found to be ineligible; thus, 44 were assigned to receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery. Average size of the largest tumor was greater that 30mm in 77% patients. According to Computed Tomographic findings 70% patients belonged to Stage T4A. The overall response rate to GC was 50%, and incomplete response was achieved in 25% whereas 25% patients were lost to follow up. Twenty two patients who had complete response, underwent cystectomy and diversion. It was observed that those patients who underwent radical cystectomy with ureterosigmoidostomy had an increased serum creatinine in comparison to patients who had ileal conduit. The size of the effect is modest and combination chemotherapy can be administered safely without adverse outcomes resulting in delayed local therapy. Further efforts to identify the patients most likely to benefit from neoadjuvant therapy are necessary to optimize its us

Rapid and poorly managed agricultural landuse in Punjab plain is a major contention in groundwater quality deterioration. This study is focused on the determination of groundwater vulnerability potential of vadose material using geo-electrical method. Total of eight electrical resistivity soundings with Schlumberger electrode configuration are taken near Khizarabad Dairy Form, district Sargodha. The instrument ABEm Terrameter SAS 300 is used for data acquisition. The quantitative interpretation is done by 1D modelling of resistivity soundings by using IX1D software. The results characterize the area into three geo-electrical layers as dry alluvium (15.7 - 32.4 Ωm), saturated alluvium with high resistivity (10 - 20 Ωm) and low resistivity (>10 Ωm). Aquifer vulnerability is assessed by calculating Dar Zarrouk parameter (Longitudinal Conductance) and thickness of vadose zone. Resultant vulnerability is divided into three zones as low (>3.8 siemens) moderate (1.6 - 2.5 siemens) and high (mens). It is concluded from this study that Vertical Resistivity Sounding (VES) can be used for vulnerability assessment of an unconfined sandy alluvial aquifer from agricultural contaminants.
