Life Threatening Stridor Due to Primary Laryngeal Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious disease. In otorhinolaryngology practice, lymph node infection is the most common site of predilection followed by the larynx. Laryngeal tuberculosis (LTB) typically presents with dysphagia, odynophagia and hoarseness. We reported a case of primary LTB presenting with acute upper airway obstruction and respiratory distress mimicking acute supraglottitis which requires emergency tracheostomy. Therefore, in acute upper airway obstruction, the appropriate initial investigation should be done to rule out TB to make sure early treatment can be given and it may prevent complications of disease to the patient. .

Knowledge and the Attitude on the Use of mouthwash among Two Selected Senior High Schools in Kumasi

BACKGROUND: The route of most systemic diseases begins in the oral cavity. Oral health knowledge of mouthwashes and their uses is indispensable for the general population and especially adolescents. The use of mouthwash by adolescents can be a beneficial adjunct to their oral hygiene routine, providing additional protection against dental diseases and promoting fresher breath. Overuse or misuse of mouthwash, particularly those containing alcohol or other potentially irritating ingredients, may lead to adverse effects such as oral mucosal irritation, dry mouth, or alteration of the oral microbiome. OBJECTIVES: To determine the knowledge, attitude, and use of mouthwash among senior high school students in Kumasi. mETHODOLOGY: 120 students responded to a standard questionnaire by a convenient sample technique. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 22.0 and mS Excel were used for data management and analysis. The results of the study were presented using tables, bar charts, and pie chart. RESULTS: The ages of the respondents ranged from 14 to 20 years. Out of the 120 participants, 71 students that represent 59.2% of the total, used mouthwash. majority of the participants (63%) utilized a mouthwash after brushing their teeth. 49% of the participants reported using mouthwash to address halitosis, 37% used it to combat periodontal disease, and 10% used it for relief from a sore throat. CONCLUSION: In general, most of the participants who use mouthwash had excellent knowledge and a positive attitude toward the use of mouthwash.

Correlation of Hamstring Tendon Size in Pre-Operative mRI measurement with Intra-Operative Graft Size in Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction

Background: The size of Hamstring autograft of less than 8.0 mm in ACL re-construction is one of the key factors that may contribute to the failure of the graft. In this study, we are going to assess the correlation of pre-operative mRI measurement of Hamstring tendons with the intra-operative ACL graft. Thus, it may help surgeons to anticipate the needs for graft augmentation should the final graft size be smaller than expected. methods: We retrospectively re-viewed 41 cases of ACL reconstructions in which mRI were done pre-operatively, in Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF), muar between January 2019 until December 2022. mRI measurements of Hamstring tendon (semitendinosus: ST, and gracilis) were done by a radiologist, and the in-tra-operative notes were reviewed for the final graft size. Pearson’s correlation coefficients were calculated to determine the relationship between graft size and tendon cross-sectional area. The intraclass correlation (ICC) by using two-way mixed model with type consistency, the reliability based on average measure was 0.41 (95% CI: ?0.10, 0.69). A p-value mary ACL reconstruction done be-tween January 2019 to December 2022, only 41 patients were included in this study. There was fair correlation (p = 0.048) between pre-operative mRI measurement and the graft diameter intra-operatively. The mean of 17.0 mm of combined diameter of ST and gracilis tendon in mRI may results in graft diameter of 8.3 mm. There was also positive correlation between patients’ height and the intra-operative graft size. Conclusion: These results showed good correlation between pre-operative mRI measurement of Hamstring ten-don size with the intra-operative graft size, hence it is a reliable tool to predict the Hamstring autograft size in ACL reconstruction.

针对在瞬态电压的扰动多个敏感负载的同时保护，设计一种基于超导磁储能的模块化电流型多馈线间动态电压恢复器的电力装置。基于超导线圈的特性，采用电流源型变流器将补偿信号由直流转换为交流，为提高储能利用率，将多条馈线上的DVR与同一个超导磁储能系统连接，根据三相电磁量的对称分解理论，设计变流器的电压双重PI控制策略，建立两条馈线的仿真模型，结果表明在系统发生电压暂降和暂升故障时，该装置可以快速有效地对电压进行补偿，从而实现对多馈线上负载的保护。

Insights into manipulation: Unveiling Tampered Images Using modified ELA, Deep Learning, and Explainable AI

Digital image forgery (DIF) is a prevalent issue in the modern age, where malicious actors manipulate images for various purposes, including deception and misinformation. Detecting such forgeries is a critical task for maintaining the integrity of digital content. This thesis explores the use of modified Error Level Analysis (ELA) in combination with a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), as well as, Feedforward Neural Network (FNN) model to detect digital image forgeries. Additionally, incorporation of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to this research provided insights into the process of decision-making by the models. The study trains and tests the models on the CASIA2 dataset, emphasizing both authentic and forged images. The CNN model is trained and evaluated, and Explainable AI (SHapley Additive exPlanation— SHAP) is incorporated to explain the model’s predictions. Similarly, the FNN model is trained and evaluated, and XAI (SHAP) is incorporated to explain the model’s predictions. The results obtained from the analysis reveals that the proposed approach using CNN model is most effective in detecting image forgeries and provides valuable explanations for decision interpretability.
