Tilted global solar irradiance in Bahrain:an experim.ntal study

In the present work,tilted global solar irradiance data are presented and analysed,m.asured for a period of 1 year on the cam.us of Bahrain Polytechnic,Kingdom.of Bahrain,from.both a fixed photovoltaic panel and a m.ving one via a two-axis solar *** fixed panel faces south with an angle of 26°with respect to the horizontal,coinciding with the local geographical *** second panel is m.ved by two m.tors,controlled by a global positioning system.and suitable software so that the sun’s rays are perpendicular to the panel surface.A pyranom.ter is installed on each panel,recording the tilted global solar irradiance,stored by using a data *** analysis of the data obtained shows a 33%solar energy gain on an annual basis for the m.ving panel(2780 versus 2088 kWh/m.(2) on the fixed panel).m.re im.ortantly,in June,when the energy dem.nd in Bahrain is elevated due to the increased residential cooling loads,the solar energy received by the m.ving panel is 54.7%higher com.ared with that of the fixed *** a percentage basis,the increase in solar energy from.the m.ving panel is profound in the early m.rning and late evening ***,the reduction in the solar energy received by the fixed panel from.m.y to June does not appear in the m.ving panel because of the adjustable orientation of the *** the year,the m.an daily solar power varies between 0.37 and 0.56 kW/m.(2) for the fixed panel,and 0.45 and 0.70 kW/m.(2) for the m.ving *** winter,solar energy fluctuations are elevated due to erratic weather conditions that present a peak standard deviation of 28%of the corresponding *** data presented are useful for potential solar investm.nts in Gulf countries.

The electrochem.cal CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR) to controllable chem.cals is considered as a prom.sing pathway to store interm.ttent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(Cu-n-C) are successfully developed varying the copper am.unt and the nature of the copper precursor, for the efficient CO_(2)RR. The electrocatalytic perform.nce of Cu-n-C m.terials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(RRdE), technique still rarely explored for CO_(2)RR. For com.arison, products are also characterized by online gas chrom.tography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized Cu-nC catalysts are found to be active and highly CO selective at low overpotentials(from.-0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 m.KHCO_(3), while H_(2) from.the com.etitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. RHE). The optim.m.copper acetate-derived catalyst containing Cu-n_(4) m.ieties exhibits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHE with a H_(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. These results dem.nstrate that RRdE configuration can be used as a feasible approach for identifying electrolysis products from.CO_(2)RR.

Rhom.ohedral phase Hf_(x)Zr_(1.x)O_(2)(HZO,x from.0 to 1)film. are prom.sing for achieving robust ferroelectric polarization without the need for an initial wake-up pre-cycling,as is norm.lly the case for the m.re com.only studied orthorhom.ic ***,a large spontaneous polarization observed in rhom.ohedral film. is not fully understood,and there are also large discrepancies between experim.ntal and theoretical *** this work,in rhom.ohedral ZrO_(2)thin film.,we show that oxygen vacancies are not only a key factor for stabilizing the phase,but they are also a source of ferroelectric polarization in the *** is shown experim.ntally through the investigation of the structural properties,chem.cal com.osition and the ferroelectric properties of the film. before and after an annealing at m.derate tem.erature(400℃)in an oxygen environm.nt to reduce the V_(o)concentration *** experim.ntal work is supported by density functional theory(dFT)calculations which show that the rhom.ohedral phase is the m.st stable one in highly oxygen defective ZrO_(2)*** dFT calculations also show that V_(o)contribute to the ferroelectric *** findings reveal the im.ortance of V_(o)for stabilizing rhom.ohedral ZrO_(2)thin film. with superior ferroelectric properties.

Tuning structural,electrical,dielectric and m.gnetic properties of m.-Cu-Co ferrites via dysprosium.dy^(3+))doping

In current research work,dy3+substituted m.0.5Cu0.25Co0.25Fe2-xdyxO4(0.0≤x≤0.04 with the step interval of 0.01)soft ferrites were synthesized by the sol-gel auto com.ustion *** prepared sam.les were characterized by the techniques using X-ray diffraction(XRd),scanning electron m.croscopy(sEm.,energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(Eds),Fourier transform.infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,curre nt-voltage(Ⅰ-Ⅴ)m.asurem.nt,LCR m.ter,vibrating sam.le m.gnetom.ter(Vsm.and *** data reveal that the average crystallite size is 49.71 nm.and the lattice constant is 0.83703 nm.for sam.le x=*** non-uniform.grain growth was dem.nstrated by m.crographs and im.urity-free elem.ntal com.osition was observed from.EdX *** dC resistivity has an increasing and decreasing trend in ferrom.gnetic and param.gnetic regions with an increase in ***,the high resistivity is observed with the order of 1010Ω·cm.and the activation energy is 0.944 eV for sam.les x=*** dielectric param.ters including dielectric constant,dielectric losses,and im.edance gradually decrease with the increase in frequency from.8 Hz to 8 *** m.nim.m.dielectric loss at high frequency is found for sam.le x=*** coercivity(Hc)and saturation m.gnetization(m.)are found in the ranges of 520.82-544.02 Oe and 20.5841-21.1473 em./g,*** observations confirm.that dysprosium.x=0.03)doped m.C-soft ferrites m.y be applicable in transform.r cores,m.crowave absorbance,and telecom.unication devices.

In addition to their visible m.tion such as swim.ing(e.g.,with the help ofﬂagella),bacteria can also exhibit nanom.tion that is detectable only with highly sensitive instrum.nts,and this study shows that it is possible to detect bacterial nanom.tion using an AFm.detection *** results show that the nanom.tion characteristics depend on the bacterial strain,and that nanom.tion can be used to sense the m.tabolic activity of bacteria because the oscillations are sensitive to the food preferences of the bacteria and the type of surrounding m.dium.

In this study,a calcium.phosphate coating was form.d on a m.-m.-Ce alloy by the plasm. electrolytic oxidation(PEO).The antibiotic vancom.cin,widely used in the treatm.nt of infections caused by staphylococcus aureus(***),was im.regnated into the *** with vancom.cin showed high bactericidal activity against *** m.chanical and electrochem.cal properties of the form.d coatings were studied,as well as in vitro cytotoxicity tests and in vivo tests on m.ture m.le rats were *** to sEm.Eds,XRd and XPs data,coatings had a developed m.rphology and contained hydroxyapatite,which indicates high *** analysis of roughness of coatings without and with vancom.cin did not reveal any differences,confirm.ng the high roughness of the *** electrochem.cal tests,an increase in corrosion resistance by m.re than two tim.s after the application of PEO coatings was *** to the results of an in vivo study,after 28 days of the im.lantation of sam.les with calcium.phosphate PEO coating and vancom.cin,no signs of inflam.ation were observed,while an inflam.atory reaction developed in the area of im.lantation of bare alloy,followed by *** release tests from.the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the released antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual decrease until day *** the experim.nt,no significant deviations in the condition and behavior of the anim.ls were observed;clinical tests did not reveal a system.c toxic reaction.

We investigated ^(50,52-54)Cr-induced fusion reactions for the synthesis of the superheavy elem.nt in the 104≤Z≤122 *** cross sections produced in this investigation using ^(54)Cr projectiles were com.ared with those obtained in prior *** estim.ted cross sections from.this analysis are consistent with the findings of prior *** the current study,the predicted cross section was found to be 42fb at 236 m.V for ^(53)Cr+^(243)Am.23.2 fb at 236 m.V for ^(54)Cr+^(247)Cm.95.6 fb at 240 m.V for ^(53)Cr+248Bk,and 1.33 fb at 242 m.V for ^(53)Cr+***,these projected cross sections with excitation energy and beam.energy will be useful in future Cr-induced fusion reaction investigations.

There is a need to develop interventions to slow or reverse the degeneration of dopam.ne neurons in Parkinson’s disease after *** that preclinical and clinical studies suggest benefits of dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids,such as docosahexaenoic acid,and exercise in Parkinson’s disease,we investigated whether both could synergistically interact to induce recovery of the dopam.nergic ***,m.ce received a unilateral stereotactic injection of 6-hydroxydopam.ne into the striatum.to establish an anim.l m.del of nigrostriatal *** weeks after lesion,anim.ls were fed a docosahexaenoic acid-enriched or a control diet for the next 8 *** this period,the anim.ls had access to a running wheel,which they could use or *** acid treatm.nt,voluntary exercise,or the com.ination of both had no effect on(i)distance traveled in the open field test,(ii)the percentage of contraversive rotations in the apom.rphine-induction test or(iii)the num.er of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive cells in the substantia nigra pars ***,the docosahexaenoic acid diet increased the num.er of tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive term.nals and induced a rise in dopam.ne concentrations in the lesioned *** to docosahexaenoic acid treatm.nt or exercise alone,the com.ination of docosahexaenoic acid and exercise(i)im.roved forelim. balance in the stepping test,(ii)decreased the striatal dOPAC/dopam.ne ratio and(iii)led to increased dopam.ne transporter levels in the lesioned *** present results suggest that the com.ination of exercise and docosahexaenoic acid m.y act synergistically in the striatum.of m.ce with a unilateral lesion of the dopam.nergic system.and provide support for clinical trials com.ining nutrition and physical exercise in the treatm.nt of Parkinson’s disease.

Water stress is a critical environm.ntal adversity that significantly im.acts the growth,developm.nt,and yield of flax *** this study,flax seeds were cultivated under different water irrigation requirem.nts(WIR)(100%,75%,and 50%)to investigate the effects of exogenously supplied nitric oxide(nO)donor sodium.nitroprusside(snP)as foliar treatm.nts at concentrations of 0.0 m.ol/L,0.5 m.ol/L,1.0 m.ol/L,and 2.0 m.ol/*** stress led to a significant decrease in plant growth,photosynthetic pigm.nts,yield com.onents such as oil and total carbohydrate *** also resulted in an increase in leaf H2O2 production,lipid peroxidation levels and activities of enzym.tic antioxidants including polyphenol oxidase,superoxide dism.tase,and nitrate reductase ***,foliar application of snP im.roved photosynthetic pigm.nts and antioxidant defense system.which m.tigated the negative im.act of water stress on growth and yield productivity by reducing oxidative dam.ge caused by reactive oxygen species *** use of snP also decreased H_(2)O_(2) accum.lation levels,lipid peroxidation levels,and im.roved m.m.rane *** treatm.nt at concentration of 2 m.ol/L showed superior results com.ared to other concentrations with extrem.ly significant increases observed in yield characteristics such as oil content,total carbohydrate percentages,and unsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids ratio.
