In situ probing of electron transfer at the dynam.c m.S_(2)/graphene–water interface for m.dulating boundary slip

The boundary slip condition is pivotal for nanoscale fluid *** research has prim.rily focused on sim.lating the interaction m.chanism.between the electronic structure of two-dim.nsional m.terials and slip of water at the nanoscale,raising the possibility for ultralow friction flow of water at the ***,ex.erim.ntally elucidating electronic interactions at the dynam.c solid–liquid interface to control boundary slip poses a significant *** this study,the crucial role of electron structures at the dynam.c solid–liquid interface in regulating slip length was ***,the slip length of water on the m.lybdenum.disulfide/graphene(m.S_(2)/G)heterostructure(100.9±3.6 nm.significantly ex.eeded that of either graphene(27.7±2.2 nm.or m.S_(2)(5.7±3.1 nm.*** was also analyzed how electron transfer significantly affected interface *** electrons played a crucial role in determ.ning the type and proportion of ex.itons at both m.S_(2)–water and m.S_(2)/G–water ***,by applying voltage,distinct photolum.nescence(PL)responses at static and dynam.c interfaces were discovered,achieving a 5-fold m.dulation in PL intensity and a 2-fold m.dulation in the trion to ex.iton intensity *** electrons transfer from.the top graphene to the bottom.m.S_(2)at the m.S_(2)/G–water interface,reducing surface charge ***,the reduction of electrostatic interactions between the solid and water leads to an increased slip length of water on the m.S_(2)/G *** process aids in com.rehending the origin of frictional resistance at the subatom.c *** work establishes a foundation for actively controlling and designing of fluid transport at the nanoscale.

Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs) are m.jor causes of visual im.airm.nt and irreversible blindness worldwide, while the precise m.lecular and genetic m.chanism. are still elusive. N6-m.thyladenosine (m.(6)A) m.dification is the m.st prevalent internal m.dification in eukaryotic m.NA. YTH dom.in containing 2 (YTHDC2), an m.(6)A reader protein, has recently been identified as a key player in germ.ine developm.nt and hum.n cancer. However, its contribution to retinal function rem.ins unknown. Here, we ex.lore the role of YTHDC2 in the visual function of retinal rod photoreceptors by generating rod-specific Ythdc2 knockout m.ce. Results show that Ythdc2 deficiency in rods causes dim.nished scotopic ERG responses and progressive retinal degeneration. m.lti-om.cs analysis further identifies Ppef2 and Pde6b as the potential targets of YTHDC2 in the retina. Specifically, via its YTH dom.in, YTHDC2 recognizes and binds m.(6)A-m.dified Ppef2 m.NA at the coding sequence and Pde6b m.NA at the 5′-UTR, resulting in enhanced translation efficiency without affecting m.NA levels. Com.rom.sed translation efficiency of Ppef2 and Pde6b after YTHDC2 depletion ultim.tely leads to decreased protein levels in the retina, im.aired retinal function, and progressive rod death. Collectively, our finding highlights the im.ortance of YTHDC2 in visual function and photoreceptor survival, which provides an unreported elucidation of IRD pathogenesis via epitranscriptom.cs.

Ice core provides a valuable vertical tim.line of past clim.tes and anthropogenic *** prox.es have been widely used in these studies,but there are few biological indicators *** address this gap,we investigated the bacterial com.unity from.a 74 m.ice core of m.ztag ata glacier on the Tibetan Plateau to link biological indicators with past clim.te and anthropogenic *** analyzing the portion of the ice core with environm.ntal prox.es available(corresponding to 1907 to 1991),we observed an increase in bacterial richness throughout the ice core,which was associated with higher NH_(4)^(+),an indicator of agricultural *** bacterial com.unity was jointly determ.ned by hum.n activity,natural input,and air tem.erature,with a strong hum.n influence after the ***,the relative abundance of anim.l gut-associated bacteria,including Aerococcaceae,Nocardiaceae,m.ribaculaceae,and Lachnospiraceae,was associated with livestock num.er changes in the Central Asian *** with other bacterial lineages,they jointly ex.lained 59.8%of the livestock num.er *** study provides quantitative evidence of the associations between bacterial indicators and past clim.te and hum.n activities,highlighting the potential of using bacterial prox.es for ice core studies.

Solidification/Stabilization of Chrom.um.in Red m.d-based Geopolym.r

Up to 1.5wt%of Cr(Ⅲ)salts(CrCl_(3),and Cr_(2)O_(3))and Cr(Ⅵ)salts(Na_(2)CrO_(4),and CaCr_(2)O_(7))were incorporated into red m.d-based geopolym.rs,*** solidification/stabilization,com.ressive strength,and durability of the Cr-containing geopolym.rs were *** ex.erim.ntal results indicate that the red m.d-based geopolym.r could effectively solidify/stabilize different types of Cr salts with solidification/stabilization rates of above 99.61%.Geopolym.rs are environm.ntally safe when the dosage of CaCr_(2)O_(7)is≤1.0wt%,or the dosage of CrCl_(3),Cr_(2)O_(3),and Na_(2)CrO_(4)is≤1.5wt%,*** effects of Cr salts on the com.ressive strength varies with the type and content of Cr *** freeze-thaw cycle is m.re destructive to geopolym.r properties than sulfate attack or acid rain *** solidification/stabilization of Cr is m.inly attributed to the following reasons:a)The chem.cal binding of Cr is related to the form.tion of Cr-containing hydrates(eg,m.gnesiochrom.te((m.,Fe)(Cr,Al)_(2)O_(4)))and doping into N-A-S-H gel and C-A-S-H gel fram.work;b)The physical effect is related to the encapsulation by the hydration products(e g,N-A-S-H gel and C-A-S-H gel).This study provides a reference for the treatm.nt of hazardous Cr-containing wastes by solid waste-based geopolym.rs.

Prediction of bedload transport inside vegetation canopies with natural m.rphology

Due to vegetation drag and vegetation-generated turbulence,bedload transport in vegetated channels is m.re com.licated than that in nonvegetated *** is challenging to obtain accurate predictions of bedload transport in vegetated *** studies generally used rigid circular cylinders to sim.late vegetation,and the im.act of plant m.rphology on bedload transport was typically ignored;these m.thods deviate from.natural scenarios,resulting in prediction errors in transport rates of m.re than an order of *** study m.asured bedload transport rates inside ***,*** and *** canopies and in arrays of rigid cylinders for *** im.act of plant m.rphology on bedload transport in vegetated channels was *** the canopies of natural m.rphology,the prim.ry factor driving bedload transport is the near-bed turbulent kinetic energy(TKE),which consists of both bed-generated and vegetation-generated turbulence.A m.thod was proposed to predict the near-bed TKE inside canopies with natural *** the sam. solid volum. fraction of plants,the transport rate inside canopies with a natural m.rphology is greater than or equal to that within an array of rigid cylinders,depending on the plant *** finding indicates that plant m.rphology has a significant im.act on transport rates in vegetated regions and cannot be ignored,which is typical in *** classic bedload transport equations(the m.yer-Peter-m.ller,Einstein,Engelund and Dou equations),which are suitable for bare channels(no vegetation),were m.dified in term. of the near-bed *** predicted near-bed TKE was inserted into these four equations to predict the transport rate in canopies with natural m.rphology.A com.arison of the predictions indicated that the m.yer-Peter-m.ller equation had the highest accuracy in predicting the transport rate in vegetated landscapes.

With the concept of m.tam.terials introduced into integrated photonics,subwavelength structures have gained popularity for their ability to create devices with ultra-com.act size,high perform.nce,and versatile ***,traditional m.tam.terial design m.thods are usually based on em.irical tem.lates and physical approx.m.tions,lacking the ability to design free-form.m.tam.terial structures and optim.ze entire devices *** this work,we propose a hierarchical inverse design approach that com.ines a conventional effective refractive index.based m.tam.terial structures design with a follow-up global topology *** em.irical m.tam.terial grating coupler design based on effective refractive index.engineering faces inaccurate index.ex.raction and insufficient approx.m.tion of wavevector m.tching conditions,which deteriorates coupling efficiency,especially for fully-etched devices with the decreased tapering ***,a subsequent overall topology optim.zation step can well com.ensate for the negative effect of the shrinking device footprint to increase the efficiency of the m.tam.terial grating *** dem.nstrate a 23μm.10μm.ultra-com.act m.tam.terial grating coupler with single-stepetched to couple light between a fiber and a 500 nm.single-m.de silicon waveguide in the *** m.asurem.nt shows an insertion loss of 3.17 dB and a 3 dB bandwidth of 77 nm.m.king it the sm.llest footprint device ever reported.

Failure evaluation and control factor analysis of slope block instability along traffic corridor in Southeastern Tibet

The instability of slope blocks occurred frequently along traffic corridor in Southeastern Tibet(TCST),which was prim.rily controlled by the rock m.ss structures.A rapid m.thod evaluating the control effects of rock m.ss structures was proposed through field statistics of the slopes and rock m.ss structures along TCST,which com.ined the stereographic projection m.thod,m.dified m.JCS m.del,and lim.t equilibrium.*** instabilities of slope blocks along TCST were then evaluated rapidly,and the different control factors of instability were *** showed that the probabilities of toppling(5.31%),planar(16.15%),and wedge(35.37%)failure of slope blocks along TCST increased *** instability m.des were respectively controlled by the anti-dip joint,the joint parallel to slope surface with a dip angle sm.ller than the slope angle(singlejoint),and two groups of joints inclined out of the slope(double-joints).Regarding the control effects on slope block instability,the stabilization ability of doublejoints(72.7%),anti-dip joint(67.4%),and single-joint(57.6%)decreased sequentially,resulting in different probabilities of slope block ***,nearby regional faults significantly influenced the joints,leading to spatial heterogeneity and segm.ntal clustering in the stabilization ability provided by joints to the slope ***,the stability of slope blocks gradually weakened as they approached the fault *** paper can provide guidance and assistance for investigating the developm.nt characteristics of rock m.ss structures and the stability of slope blocks.
