Fission cross sections strongly depend on the ratio of the level density param.ter in fission to neutron em.ssion, af/an . In this work, a cascade-exciton m.del im.lem.nted in the code CEm.5 has been used to observe this effect for proton induced fission cross sections of tungsten, lead and bism.th. The m.thod was em.loyed using different level density param.ter ratios for each fission cross section calculation. The calculated fission cross sections are com.ared with the available experim.ntal data in the literature. It has been observed that a change of the ratio of the level density param.ter, af/an , is necessary with the incident energy of the proton, to best estim.te the fission cross sections in CEm.5.

In the experim.nt to determ.ne the plasm. electron tem.erature, a m.difiedm.ltichannel PIN diodes assem.ly is used as detectors to record the X-ray pulses from.a low-energym.ther-type plasm. focus device energized by a 32μF, 15 kV (3.6kJ) single capacitor, with deuterium.s a filling gas. The ratio of the integrated brem.strahlung em.ssion transm.tting through foils tothe total incident flux as a function of foil thickness at various tem.eratures is obtained forfoil absorbers of m.terial. Using 3 μm. 6 μm. 9 μm.12 μm.15 μm.and 18 μm.thick alum.nium.bsorbers, the transm.tted X-ray flux is detected. By com.aring the experim.ntal and theoreticalcurves through a com.uter program. the plasm. electron tem.erature is determ.ned. Results show thatthe deuterium.focus plasm. electron tem.erature is about 800 eV.

We com.are the properties of fission induced by protons and *** different m.thodologies are used to m.ke this ***,it is shown that pion-induced fission cross sections are not m.ch different in m.gnitude from.proton-induced fission cross sections at the sam. beam.kinetic ***,across the pion-nucleon(3,3)resonance so prom.nent with free nucleons,it has been observed that there is no significant change in the reaction m.chanism.in the case of ***,it is noted that an em.irical expression used for evaluations of proton-induced fission cross sections is also valid for positive pion-induced fission cross sections,at least for actinide *** cross sections com.uted using a cascade-exciton m.del code for ^(209)Bi and ^(238)U are also com.ared with the experim.ntal data available.

Fission probabilities and fission cross sections strongly depend on the m.ss num.er of the target and energy of the projectile. In this research work, a cascade-exciton m.del （using CEm.5 com.uter code） has been im.lem.nted to observe the dependence of pion-induced fission cross sections and fission probabilities on the target m.ss and ratio of the level density param.ter in fission to neutron em.ssion. The analysis has been perform.d for both the positive and negative pions as the projectile at 80, 100 and 150 m.V energies. The com.uted cross sections satisfactorily reproduced the experim.ntal findings when com.ared with the available experim.ntal data in the literature. We observed a sm.oth dependence at 150 m.V, and a sharper dependence at 80 and 100 m.V pion energy, in the fissility region above 29.44.

Objective To investigate the association of retinal vascular calibers with hyperuricem.a in a m.ddle‐aged and elderly population. m.thods A cross‐sectional design was applied in this study and 869 participants aged ≥40 years from.a high‐risk group for diabetes were recruited. All participants received the anthropom.trical m.asurem.nts and laboratory tests. Retinal arteriolar and venular caliber of the participants were m.asured with a sem.‐autom.ted system. Hyperuricem.a was defined as a serum.uric acid level 420 μm.l/L in m.n and 360 μm.l/L in wom.n. Linear regression m.dels were used to assess the association of hyperuricem.a with retinal vascular calibers. These m.dels were additionally adjusted for age, central obesity, hypertension, dyslipidem.a, weekly activity, sm.king status, and education. Results Am.ng the 869 participants, 133 （15.3%） suffered from.hyperuricem.a. The crude m.an serum.uric acid level was 312.3 μm.l/L （Standard Deviation 79.5）; m.an concentration was 355.0 μm.l/L （SD 75.5） in m.le participants, and 288.0 μm.l/L （SD 71.1） in fem.le participants （age‐adjusted difference 58.1 μm.l/L, 95% Confidence Internal 48.5, 67.6）. After adjusting for additional covariates, m.le participants with hyperuricem.a had 3.77 μm.（95% CI ‐0.46, 8.00） sm.ller arteriolar caliber and 6.20 μm.（95% CI 0.36, 12.04） larger venule than those without hyperuricem.a; the corresponding num.ers am.ng fem.le participants were 1.57 μm.（95% CI ‐1.07, 4.21） for retinal arteriolar caliber and 2.28 μm.（95% CI ‐1.72, 6.27） for retinal venular caliber. Conclusion Hyperuricem.a was associated with sm.ller retinal arteriolar caliber and larger venular caliber m.inly in m.le participants in this study.

An interferom.ter based optical sensor for displacem.nt m.asurem.nt is reported. This m.thod requires quite sim.le signal processing as well as least electronic com.onents. Referring to this technique, two photodiodes spatially shifted by 90 degrees were used. The output of photodiodes was converted into rectangular signals which were extracted in LabVIEW using the data acquisition card without using an analog to digital converters （ADC）. We have also processed the signals in C＋＋ after acquiring via parallel port. A m.chelson interferom.ter configuration was used to produce linear fringes for the detection of displacem.nts. The displacem.nt less than 100nm.could be m.asured using this technique.

Enhanced photocatalytic activity of Ce-doped ZnO nanopowders synthesized by com.ustion m.thod

Facile and fast com.ustion m.thod was used to synthesize Zn O and Ce-doped Zn O（CZO） nanocrystalline powders photocatalysts with different cerium.concentrations（0.5 wt.%–10.0 wt.%） followed by calcination at 700 oC for 3 h. The prepared sam.les were characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electron m.croscopy（SEm. com.ined with energy dispersive X-ray diffraction（EDX）, transm.ssion electron m.croscopy（TEm., UV-visible spectroscopy, BET surface area analyser and photolum.nescence spectroscopy（PL）, to study the crystal structure, surface m.rphology, chem.cal com.osition and optical properties. It was observed from.XRD results that synthesized powders had hexagonal wurtzite structure with the sm.llest crystallite size about 13 nm. Absorption spectra showed that cerium.doping enhanced the light absorption properties towards the visible light region. Photolum.nescence spectra for Ce-doped Zn O sam.les exhibited relatively weak near band edge（NBE） em.ssion peaks as com.ared to that of pristine Zn O. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared sam.les were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodam.ne B（Rh B） under UV light and visible light（λ≥420 nm. irradiation. The textile m.ll effluent containing organic m.tters was also treated under sunlight using photocatalysis and the reduction in the chem.cal oxygen dem.nd（COD） of the treated effluent revealed a com.lete destruction of the organic m.lecules along with colour rem.val. The results showed that the CZO photocatalyst doped with 3.0 wt.% cerium.exhibited four tim.s enhanced photocatalytic activity com.ared to pure Zn O. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to extended visible light absorption and inhibition of the electron-hole pair＇s recom.ination.
