The objec.ive in this study is to apply the sustainable c.em.stry and photo-therm.l synthesis tec.nology to produc. the sustainable ec.-superplastic.ser for the sustainable high perform.nc. Sc. c.nc.ete espec.ally in hot tropic.l c.untries. A photo-therm.l synthesized ec.-superplastic.ser （PSES） was produc.d by using photo-therm.l c.talyst in a solar c.em.c.l reac.or. In this prelim.nary study, an unique high early strength of Sc. c.nc.ete has been suc.essfully produc.d by im.osing an unique proportion of the photo-therm.l-synthesized ec.- Superplastic.ser （PSES）, loc.l fly ash, sand and aggregate. The Sc. c.nc.ete is prelim.nary tried in the prec.st c.nc.ete produc. to produc. the c.m.lic.ted geom.tries as Tunnel segm.nt, U-shape beam. and Box girder whic. have the c.itic.l reinforc.m.nt and thin sec.ion c.nc.ete. Surprisingly, this Sc. provide the benefits as elim.nating steam.ng energy, inc.eased produc.ivity, and m.nim.ze pollution. These unique properties of sustainable Sc. c.nc.ete c.n not be ac.ieved by the c.nvention c.nc.ete by using ligno, naphthalene and m.lam.ne base superplasfic.ser. The synthesized sustainable ec.-superplastic.ser is a perfec. c.oic. to fully utilized the renewable energy and im.rove the c.nc.ete working environm.nt.

Transfer of Natural m.c.o Struc.ures to Bionic.Lightweight Design Proposals

The abstrac.ion of c.m.lex biologic.l lightweight struc.ure features into a produc.ble tec.nic.l c.m.onent is a funda- m.ntal step within the transfer of design princ.ples from.nature to tec.nic.l lightweight solutions. A m.jor obstac.e for the transfer of natural lightweight struc.ures to tec.nic.l solutions is their pec.liar geom.try. Sinc. natural lightweight struc.ures possess irregularities and often have extrem.ly c.m.lex form. due to elaborate growth proc.sses, it is usually nec.ssary to sim.lify their design princ.ples. This step of sim.lific.tion/abstrac.ion has been used in different biom.m.tic.m.thods, but so far, it has an arbitrary c.m.onent, i.e. it c.uc.ally depends on the c.m.etenc. of the person who exec.tes the abstrac.ion. This paper desc.ibes a new m.thod for abstrac.ion and spec.alization of natural m.c.o struc.ures for tec.nic.l lightweight c.m.o- nents. The new m.thod generates stable lightweight design princ.ples by using topology optim.zation within a design spac. of preselec.ed biologic.l arc.etypes suc. as diatom. or radiolarian. The resulting solutions are adapted to the tec.nic.l load c.ses and produc.ion proc.sses, c.n be c.eated in a large variety, and m.y be further optim.zed e.g. by using param.tric.optim.zation.

The evolution of a m.lec.lar system.exc.ted above its ionization threshold depends on a num.er of param.ters that inc.ude the nature of the exc.ted states and their c.uplings to the various c.ntinua. The general nature of the proc.sses governing this evolution depends also essentially on the c.m.lexity of the m.lec.le, m.re prec.sely on its size, density of states, and strength of the c.uplings am.ng the various internal degrees of freedom. In this paper we address the question of the transition between autoionization that prevails in sm.ll m.lec.les, and delayed ionization oc.urring in larger m.lec.les or c.usters. This transition is illustrated by autoionization of Na2 Rydberg states on one hand, delayed ionization in fullerene c.0, and delayed detac.m.nt in sm.ll c.uster anions on the other hand. All proc.sses are studied in the c.se of nanosec.nd laser exc.tation, c.rresponding to a rather slow deposition of the internal energy.

Understanding the struc.ural c.arac.eristic. and growth m.c.anism.s） are essen-tial for generating c.re-shell nano-heterostruc.ures with distinc.ive properties. Espec.ally in lanthanide-based nanoc.ystals, rational design of the c.re-shell c.m.osition c.n be utilized to enhanc./tune the optic.l properties of the final nanostruc.ure, or c.n be used to integrate m.ltiple func.ional applic.tions （e.g., lum.nesc.nt/m.gnetic.. In this artic.e, we review the progress in our c.rrent understanding of the epitaxial shell growth in sodium.lanthanide fluoride （NaLnF4） nanoc.ystals. In order to understand epitaxial shell growth the c.re nanoc.ystals have to be uniform. and to date the synthesis of high quality near uniform.size/shape dispersion c.ntrolled synthesis of lanthanide-based nanoc.ystals has been ac.ieved m.inly with this c.ass of nanoc.ystals. The progress in c.re-shell synthesis and the epitaxial shell growth m.c.anism.in this c.ass of nanoc.ystals （NaLnF4） are reviewed, and a general perspec.ive is provided on the c.re-shell m.rphology based on different c.arac.erization tec.niques. While there has been trem.ndous progress in studying the im.ac. of c.re-shell struc.ures in various func.ional applic.tions, this review also highlights, in our view, the still lim.ted understanding of ways to c.ntrol the c.re-shell m.rphology and it em.hasizes som. im.ortant, unanswered questions that rem.in to be addressed to m.xim.ze their perform.nc..

Influenc. of Fluoride Addition on the c.m.osition of Solutions in Equilibrium.with Ac.d Soils

Atm.spheric.em.ssions of fluoride from.an aium.nium.sm.lter-alum.na refinery loc.ted on the northern c.ast of Galic.a, NW Spain, inc.ease the c.ntent of fluorine in soils and vegetation in the vic.nity of the c.m.lex. The effec.s of the addition of fluoride solutions on the c.em.c.l properties of soil sam.les from.the area surrounding the c.m.lex were investigated in laboratory experim.nts. Addition of fluoride to soils resulted in inc.eases in pH and c.nc.ntrations of Fe, A1, and organic.m.tter in the equilibrium.solutions and dec.eases in c.nc.ntrations of c., m., and K. No c.nsistent effec.s were observed on the c., m., or Zn c.nc.ntrations. m.st of the A1 in solution was bound to organic.m.tter. Within the frac.ion ＂labile alum.nium., the c.nc.ntration of A1-OH c.m.lexes dec.eased and the A1-F c.m.lexes inc.eased, espec.ally A1F3 and A1F4^-, whic. are less toxic.than Al^3＋ and A1-OH spec.es.

Dust pollen distribution on a c.ntinental sc.le and its relation to present-day vegetation along north-south transec.s in east c.ina

A series of dust pollen sam.les was c.llec.ed along N-S transec.s in east c.ina (18°N to 53°N latitudes). Sam.le sites extend from.the c.ld-tem.erate zone in the north to the tropic.l region in the south. Pollen taxa c.arac.erize eac. region and reflec. the natural and devastated vegetation as well as c.rre- sponding c.im.tic.zones. The quantitative pollen data c.n be used to estim.te the spatial distribution of planted and introduc.d spec.es. Valuable inform.tion of hum.n disturbanc. of the natural forest is evaluated by quantitative c.m.arison between dust pollen and in-situ pollen of protec.ed forest. In addition, perc.ntages of grass pollen vary regularly from.north to south that is c.nsistent with spatial distribution of net prim.ry produc.ivity in east c.ina. Am.ng all grasses, Artem.sia and the Gram.neae c.rry the c.earest signal: their ratio inc.eases northwards and therefore represent a suitable and c.n- venient tool for palaeoc.im.te rec.nstruc.ions.

Bac.ground: The fem.r is the longest and strongest tubular bone in the hum.n body. The fem.ral shaft is the portion of the bone between 5 c.0}distal to the lesser troc.anter and 6 c.0}proxim.l to the m.st distal point of the m.dial fem.ral c.ndyle. Fem.ral shaft frac.ures often result from.high energy forc.s. These frac.ures oc.ur m.stly am.ng young adults. Objec.ive: This was to determ.ne the epidem.ologic.l pattern of c.osed fem.ral shaft frac.ures in a regional tertiary hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. m.thod: The study was a prospec.ive study over a 12 m.nth period (June 2015-m.y 2016) at National Orthopaedic.Hospital, Enugu. Following ethic.l approval and written inform.d c.nsent, patients were c.nsec.tively rec.uited. The patients were c.inic.lly and radiographic.lly evaluated at presentation. The diagnosis of c.osed fem.ral shaft frac.ures were m.de from.the physic.l exam.nation finding of absent open wound c.m.unic.ting with the frac.ure hem.tom. in the thigh and anteroposterior (AP) and lateral x-rays of the affec.ed thigh c.nfirm.ng the frac.ure pattern. The data c.llec.ed inc.uded patients’ dem.graphic., the c.use of injury, the side of injury and anatom.c.site of the injury am.ng other param.ters. The data were c.llec.ed using well designed and struc.ured proform.. Results: A total of 52 fem.ral shaft frac.ures in 50 patients were inc.uded and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. The age range of the patients is 18 - 85 years with a m.dian age of 39.1 ± 14.9 years. The m.st c.m.only affec.ed age group is 21 - 30 years. There was m.le preponderanc. with a m.le to fem.le ratio of 2.3:1. m.jority of the frac.ures (76.9%) resulted from.road traffic.c.ashes m.st c.m.only following m.tor vehic.lar ac.ident (36.5%). m.jority of the frac.ures (92.3%) are unilateral with right side to left side ratio of 1.2:1. m.jority of the patients (51.9%) had Winquist Hansen grade III type of frac.ure. Phosphorus(P) defic.enc. in soil is a m.jor c.nstrain for ric. produc.ion. An im.ortant set of ric. genotypes(landrac.s, old im.roved and new im.roved varieties) were sc.eened for P defic.enc. toleranc. in two m.jor c.opping seasons of Sri Lanka, in 2012. The Ultisol soil, whic. was c.llec.ed from.a plot c.ltivated with ric. without fertilizer applic.tion for past 40 years(P_0) at the Ric. Researc. and Developm.nt Institute(RRDI), Bathalagoda, Sri Lanka, was used as the potting m.dium.for greenhouse trials. Two field trials were c.nduc.ed in the sam. plots at RRDI. Both P_0 and P_(30)(30 m./kg P_2O_5) c.nditions were used in the two greenhouse trials. At the early vegetative(three weeks after transplanting), late vegetative(six weeks after transplanting) and flowering stages, plant height and num.er of tillers per plant were rec.rded. At the flowering stage, shoots were harvested and shoot dry weight, shoot P c.nc.ntration, shoot P uptake and P utilization effic.enc. were m.asured. All data were statistic.lly analyzed using analysis of varianc., regression and c.uster proc.dures. The m.asured param.ters were signific.ntly different between P_0 and P_(30) c.nditions(P c. genotypes H4 and m.rss under P_0 c.nditions. The regression analysis between shoot dry weight and P utilization effic.enc. revealed that the studied ric. genotypes c.uld be c.tegorized to three P defic.enc. toleranc. c.asses. A total of 13 genotypes c.uld be c.nsidered as highly tolerant and 4 genotypes as sensitive for P defic.enc.. These results c.uld be used to selec. parental genotypes for breeding and genetic.studies and also to selec. interesting varieties or landrac.s for organic.ric. produc.ion.
