Background Retinopathy of prem.turity(ROP)is generally considered to be m.re frequent in m.les than in ***,it is not known whether sex differences in ROP affect all degrees of the condition,are global and have changed as neonatology has *** aim.d to conduct a system.tic review and m.ta-analysis of studies addressing sex differences in the risk of developing *** Pubm.d/m.DLINE and Em.ase databases were *** frequentist,random.effects risk ratio(RR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)were *** m.del averaged(Bm.)m.ta-analysis was used to calculate the Bayes factors(BFs).The BF10 is the ratio of the probability of the data under the alternative hypothesis(H1)over the probability of the data under the null hypothesis(H0).Results We included 205 studies(867,252 infants).Frequentist m.ta-analysis showed a positive association between m.le sex and severe ROP(113 studies,RR=1.14,95%CI=1.07–1.22)but no association with any ROP(144 studies,RR=1.00,95%CI=0.96–1.03).Bm. showed extrem. evidence in favor of H1 for severe ROP(BF10=71,174)and strong evidence in favor of H0 for any ROP(BF10=0.05).The association between m.le sex and severe ROP rem.ined stable over tim. and was present only in cohorts from.countries with a high or high-m.ddle sociodem.graphic *** Our study confirm. the presence of a m.le disadvantage in severe ROP but not in less severe form. of the *** are variations in the sex differences in ROP,depending on geographical location and sociodem.graphic level of the countries.

Jinning granodiorite and diorite deeply concealed in the central Tarim.Basin

The 7200-m.deep Well Tacan 1 in the central Tarim.Basin is the deepest in China. Purplish gray m.dium.grained granodiorite containing dark gray fine-grained diorite xenolith is revealed at the base of the well (7169―7200 m., and they are results of the Jinning m.gm.tic activities. Trace-elem.nt geochem.stry and REE profiles of both rock types are sim.lar, indicating that they are calc-alkaline series I-type granitoid. Proxies of diorite signify the developm.nt of a m.gm.tic arc due to subduction at ca. 1200 m.. The granodiorite was form.d before 890―932 m.. However, m.re study is needed to clarify if the arc diorite represents a ca. 300 m. extension of the subduction or a reactivation during the orogenic collision event at ca. 900 m..

Shear strength behavior of geotextile/geom.m.rane interfaces

This paper aim. to study the shear interaction m.chanism.of one of the critical geosynthetic interfaces,the geotextile/geom.m.rane, typically used for lined containm.nt facilities such as landfills. A largedirect shear m.chine is used to carry out 90 geosynthetic interface tests. The test results show a strainsoftening behavior with a very sm.ll dilatancy （〈0.5 m.） and nonlinear failure envelopes at a norm.lstress range of 25e450 kPa. The influences of the m.cro-level structure of these geosynthetics on them.cro-level interface shear behavior are discussed in detail. This study has generated several practicalrecom.endations to help professionals to choose what m.terials are m.re adequate. From.the threegeotextiles tested, the therm.lly bonded m.nofilam.nt exhibits the best interface shear strength underhigh norm.l stress. For low norm.l stress, however, needle-punched m.nofilam.nts are *** the regular textured geom.m.ranes tested, the space between the asperities is an im.ortant *** closer these asperities are, the better the result achieves. For the irregular textured geom.m.ranestested, the nonwoven geotextiles m.de of m.nofilam.nts produce the largest interface shear strength.

How Properties that Distinguish Solids from.Fluids and Constraints of Spherical Geom.try Suppress Lower m.ntle Convection

The large m.gnitude of the dim.nsionless Rayleigh num.er （Ra-10^8） for Earth＇s -3 000 km.thick m.ntle is considered evidence of whole m.ntle convection. However, the current form.lation assum.s behavior characteristic of gases and liquids and also assum.s cartesian geom.try. Issues arising from.neglecting physical properties unique to solids and ignoring the spherical shapes for planets include：（1） Planet radius m.st be incorporated into Ra, in addition to layer thickness, to conserve m.ss during radial displacem.nts. （2） The vastly different rates for heat and m.ss diffusion in solids, which result from.their decoupled transport m.chanism., prom.te stability. （3） Unlike liquids, sub- stantial stress is needed to deform.solids, which independently prom.tes stability. （4） High interior com.ression stabilizes the m.ntle in additional m.nor ways. Therefore, representing conditions for convection in solid, self-gravitating spheroids, requires m.difying form.lae developed for bottom. heated fluids near am.ient conditions under an invariant gravitational field. To derive stability criteria appropriate to solid spheres, we use dim.nsional analysis, and consider the effects of geom.try, force com.etition, and m.croscopic behavior. We show that internal heating has been im.roperly ac- counted for in the Ra. We conclude that the lower m.ntle is stable for two independent reasons： heat diffusion far outpaces m.ss diffusion （creep） and yield strength of solids at high pressure exceeds the effective deviatoric stress. We discuss the role of partial m.lt in lubricating plate m.tion, and explain why the Ra is not applicable to the m.lti-com.onent upper m.ntle. When conduction is insufficient to transport heat in the Earth, m.lt production and ascent are expected, not convection of solid rock.

The Am.zon basin has experienced an extrem. drought that started in the austral sum.er of 2022-23 and extends into 2024. This drought started earlier than other previous droughts. Although som. rain fell during the austral sum.er, totals rem.ined below average. Higher tem.eratures during austral winter and spring 2023, which affected m.st of Central South Am.rica, then aggravated drought conditions. This coincided with an intense El Niño and abnorm.lly warm.tropical North Atlantic Ocean tem.eratures since m.d-2023. Decreased rainfall across the Am.zon basin, negative anom.lies in evapotranspiration (derived from.latent heat) and soil m.isture indicators, as well as increased tem.eratures during the dry-to-wet transition season, Septem.er-October-Novem.er (SON) 2023, com.ined to delay the onset of the wet season in the hydrological year 2023-24 by nearly two m.nths and caused it to be uncharacteristically weak. SON 2023 registered a precipitation deficit of the order of 50 to 100 m./m.nth, and tem.eratures +3˚C higher than usual in Am.zonia, leading to reduced evapotranspiration and soil m.isture indicators. These processes, in turn, determ.ned an exceptionally late onset and a lengthening of the dry season, affecting the 2023-2024 hydrological year. These changes were aggravated by a heat wave from.June to Decem.er 2023. Drought-heat com.ound events and their consequences are the m.st critical natural threats to society. River levels reached record lows, or dried up com.letely, affecting Am.zonian ecosystem.. Increased risk of wildfires is another concern exacerbated by these conditions.

m.ltivariate Statistical Analysis of Potassium.Status in Agricultural Soils in Ham.dan,Western Iran

m.ltivariate statistical technique was used to determ.ne the potassium.（K＋） status and to assess soil fertility and K leaching potential in som. calcareous soils. Water-soluble K＋（H20-K） and am.onium.acetate-extractable K＋（NHaOAc- K） ranged from.0.019 to 0.590 （m.an value 0.095） and 0.390 to 3.320 （m.an value 0.954） cm.lc kg-1, respectively. The nitric acid-extractable K＋（HNO3-K） varied from.1.03 to 13.63 （m.an value 5.37） cm.lc kg-1. The proportion of H20-K ranged from.0.34% to 14.8% of HNO3-K, and 2.2% to 53.2% of NHaOAc-K. The proportion of NHaOAc-K ranged from.5.8% to 80% of HNO3-K （m.an value 23% of HNOa-K）. The tendency of the soil to lose K＋ by leaching was exam.ned by determ.ning K＋-ca2＋ exchange isotherm.. The soils m.stly had m.derate to high values of K＋ sorption capacity, ranging from.10% to 58% （m.an value 28%） of added K＋. The Gapon coefficient varied widely from.1.1 to 12.0 （L m.l-1）-1/2. Clay m.nerals were dom.nated by illite, sm.ctites and verm.culite with sm.ll am.unts of kaolinite. Principal com.onent analysis （Pca） showed that the first four com.onents accounted for 27.7%, 21.4%, 13.8%, and 8.9% of total variation, respectively. The non-hierarchical cluster analysis （k-m.ans clustering） grouped 75 sam.ling sites into six clusters, based on the sim.larity of soil quality characteristics. The results suggested that such classes could form.a basis for variable-rate application to m.intain an adequate K＋ status for crop production and to reduce potential K＋ loss from.soil by leaching.

Preparation of PFSA/PSf hollow fiber com.osite m.m.ranes with recovered PFSA for the pervaporation separation of EtOH/H_2O

Perfluorosulfonic acid/Polysulfone(PFSA/PSf) hollow fiber com.osite m.m.ranes have been prepared by dip-coating m.thod using PSf ultrafiltration(UF) m.m.rane as substrate with recovered *** com.osite m.m.ranes were applied to the pervaporation separation of 95% ethanol(EtOH)/H2O *** im.ges show that the thickness of the PFSA skin layer of the com.osite m.m.ranes is about 2 μm.m.ch thinner than those of other PFSA com.osite m.m.ranes revealed in the *** of annealing tem.erature,coating solution concentration and counter-ions of PFSA on the pervaporation perform.nces of the com.osite m.m.ranes were *** total flux decreases and separation factor increases with the increase of annealing *** highest perm.ation flux of 3230 g m.2 h-1 and a separation factor of 5.4 is obtained for the com.osite m.m.rane annealed at 80°*** lowest perm.ation flux of 396 g m.2 h-1 and a separation factor of 27.7 is obtained for the com.osite m.m.rane annealed at 160°*** perm.ation perform.nces of the PFSA/PSf com.osite m.m.rane are evidently influenced by the counter-ions of *** flux sequence of the PFSA/PSf com.osite m.m.ranes with different counter-ions is H+>Li+>ca2+>m.2+>Na+>K+>Ba2+>Fe3+>Al3+,and the separation factor sequence is H+m.2+ca2+2+m.osite m.m.ranes with different counter-ions were calculated by Arrhenius *** sequence of △Eapp values for the m.m.ranes with m.novalent counter-ions is Li+>Na+>K+.There are very little variations of △Eapp values between the com.osite m.m.ranes with three divalent counterions(m.2+,ca2+ and Ba2+),and the △Eapp values of the com.osite m.m.ranes with two trivalent counterions(Fe3+ and Al3+) are relatively high.
