Background: Lupus nephritis (LN) is one of the m.st com.on presentations of System.c lupus erythem.tosus (SLE). Cyclophospham.de is one of the key im.unosuppressive agents for the m.nagem.nt of LN. Leflunom.de is an isoxazole im.unom.dulatory agent has been shown to be safe, well tolerated and effective in SLE and LN. Objective: To evaluate the outcom. of leflunom.de in the treatm.nt of proliferative lupus nephritis com.ared to cyclophospham.de. m.thod: This random.zed clinical trial was held in Bangabandhu Sheikh m.jib m.dical University (BSm.U), Dhaka, Bangladesh from.July 2017 to August 2019. A total of 66 patients of proliferative lupus nephritis who need induction therapy were enrolled in this study. Leflunom.de 100 m./day for consecutive 3 days followed by 0.5 m./kg/day in divided dose was given in experim.ntal group (n = 32) and intravenous cyclophospham.de 0.5 gm.m. of body surface area m.nthly pulse was given in control group (n = 34). All study patients have received prednisolone and hydroxychloroquine according to KDIGO guideline then followed up m.nthly for 6 m.nths. Outcom.s were m.asured at 6th m.nth by renal function [S. Creatinine, 24 hours urinary total protein (24-hr UTP)], changes in SELENA-SLEDAI score, anti-ds DNA level, serum.com.lem.nt levels (serum.C3 & C4), rem.ssion (com.lete/partial) and adverse drug responses. Result: In experim.ntal group, rem.ssion occurred in 18 (56.3%) patients and no rem.ssion in 14 (43.7%) patients. In control group, rem.ssion occurred in 24 (70.6%) patients and no rem.ssion in 10 (29.4%) patients. Adverse effects in experim.ntal group were: elevated ALT (6.3%), hypertension (12.5%), infection (6.3%) and am.norrhea (12.5%). In control group, adverse effects were m.inly leucopenia (5.9%), infection (17.7%) and am.norrhea (29.4%). Intergroup analysis for treatm.nt responses and adverse effects showed no significant difference (p > 0.05). Concl

Both pulsatile gonadotropin-releasing horm.ne （GnRH） infusion and com.ined gonadotropin therapy （hum.n chorionic gonadotropin and hum.n m.nopausal gonadotropin [HCG/Hm.]） are effective to induce sperm.togenesis in m.le patients with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.（CH H）. However, evidence is lacking as to which treatm.nt strategy is better. This retrospective cohort study included 202 patients with CHH： twenty had received pulsatile GnRH and 182 had received HCG/Hm.. Patients had received therapy for at least 12 m.nths. The total follow-up tim. was 15.6 ± 5.0 m.nths （range： 12-27 m.nths） for the GnRH group and 28.7 ± 13.0 m.nths （range： 12-66 m.nths） for the HCG/Hm. group. The m.dian tim. to first sperm.appearance was 6 m.nths （95% confidence interval [CI]： 1.6-10.4） in the GnRH group versus 18 m.nths （95% Ch 16.4-20.0） in the HCG/Hm. group （P〈 0.001）. The m.dian tim. to achieve sperm.concentrations 〉5 x 106 m.-1 was 14 m.nths （95% Ch 5.8-22.2） in the GnRH group versus 27 m.nths （95% Ch 18.9-35.1） in the HCG/Hm. group （P 〈 0.001）, and the m.dian tim. to concentrations 〉10 x 106 m.-1 was 18 m.nths （95% Ch 10.0-26.0） in the GnRH group versus 39 m.nths （95% CI unknown） in the HCG/Hm. group. Com.ared to the GnRH group, the HCG/Hm. group required longer treatm.nt periods to achieve testicular sizes of 〉4 m., 〉8 m., 〉12 m., and 〉16 m.. Sperm.m.tility （a ＋ b ＋ c percentage） evaluated in sem.n sam.les with concentrations 〉1 × 106 m.-1 was 43.7% ± 20.4% （16 sam.les） in the GnRH group versus 43.2% ± 18.1% （153 sam.les） in the HCG/Hm. group （P= 0.921）. Notably, during follow-up, the GnRH group had lower serum.testosterone levels than the HCG/Hm. group （8.3 ±4.6 vs 16.2 ± 8.2 nm.l 1-1, P 〈 0.001）. Our study found that pulsatile GnRH therapy was associated with earlier sperm.togenesis and larger testicular size com.ared to com.ined gonadotropin therapy. Additional prospective random.zed studies would be required to confirm.these findings.

Triazaphospholes(TAPs) as a fascinating class of low-coordinate phosphourus heterocycle com.ounds, containing a conjugated π system.with high degree of arom.ticity and a rather high π density at the phosphorus atom.have also attracted m.ch interest over the past decades. 3 H-1,2,3,4-triazaphospholes as phosphorus analogues of the well-docum.nted 1,2,3-triazoles, first reported by Regitz et al. in 1984, were prepared by a [3+2] cycloaddition reaction of phosphaalkynes with azides in the absence of the requirem.nt of a catalyst. Until now, m.inly TAPs with electron donating substituents have been extensively investigated. In order to gain further insight into the scope of TAPs, we start to explore the reactivity and coordination chem.stry of the TAPs containing an electron-withdrawing tosyl group. Herein we report on the synthesis and characterization of the tosyl-substituted 3 H-1,2,3,4-triazaphospholes(1 a, b) and their gold(I) com.lexes(2 a, b) based on cyclo-1,3-diphospha-2,4-diazanes, which confirm.d by single crystal X-ray crystallography analyses. By investigation the proposed m.chanism.of the reaction, it is notable that the tert-butyl group were converted into the iso-pentenyl substituents by m.thyl m.gration besides obvious spontaneous nitrogen extrusion which m.nitored by GC-TCD. The phosphorus atom. were coordinated with gold(I) precursor, respectively. The trapping experim.nts also showed that a key interm.diate im.nophosphine was confirm.d by ESI-m..

We report the results of five herpetological surveys during 2011-2013 that included visits to all districts of Tim.r-Leste （Aileu, Ainaro, Baucau, Bobonaro, Dili, Covalim., Erm.ra, Laut6m. Liquiga, m.natuto, m.nufahi, Viqueque） except the Oecusse exclave. Our fieldwork culm.nated in the discovery of one putative new frog species （genus Kaloula）, at least five putative new lizard species （genera Cyrtodactylus, Cryptoblepharus, and Sphenom.rphus）, and two putative new snake species （genera Stegonotus and Indotyphlops）. In addition, we present new distribution records of am.hibians and reptiles for 11 of the country＇s 12 contiguous districts, along with additional natural history data. Results from.our surveys increase the num.er of am.hibian and reptiles known to occur in Tim.r-Leste from.22 species before our surveys began to over 60, including over 20 as yet undescribed species.

An inverted triplesalen ligand by a convergent synthesis and its influence on trinuclear FeXII3 com.lexes

The inverted triplesalen ligand H6feldm.has been synthesized from.2,4,6-triform.l-phloroglucinol and a ketim.ne salen half-unit in a convergent synthesis. Nm., IR, and UV-vis spectroscopy reveal that this ligand is not in the O-protonated tautom.r but in the N-protonated tautom.r with substantial heteroradialene contribution. This ligand and the conventional triplesalen ligand H6talent-Bu2 have been used to synthesize the trinuclear FeⅢcom.lexes [(feldm.)(FeCl)3] and [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3], respectively. The m.lecular structures of these com.lexes were obtained by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Two trinuclear FeⅢcom.lexes of [(feldm.)(FeCl)3] dim.rize via two Fe-phenolate bonds, whereas due to steric hindrance no dim.rization is observed for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]. The structural data also reveal som. heteroradialene contribution in the trinuclear com.lexes. Whereas UV-vis and m.?bauer spectroscopy are not suitable to distinguish between the two com.lexes, FT-IR spectra show characteristic features due to the different substitution patterns of the conventional and the inverted triplesalen ligands. Another handle is provided by electrochem.stry. Whereas both com.lexes exhibit an irreversible oxidation wave (0.94 V vs. Fc+/Fc for [(feldm.)(FeCl)3] and 0.84 V vs. Fc+/Fc for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]), which is assigned to the oxidation of the central backbone, higher potential oxidations are reversible for [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3]) but irreversible for [(feldm.)(FeCl)3]. This is attributed to the reversible oxidation of the term.nal phenolates in the di-tert-butyl substituted [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3] in contrast to the m.no-m.thyl-substituted phenolates in [(feldm.)(FeCl)3]. The m.gnetic properties of [(talent-Bu2)(FeCl)3] reveal a very sm.ll ferrom.gnetic coupling with significant zero-field splitting of the FeⅢS = 5/2 ions. Herpetological surveys of locations in six districts of Tim.r-Leste(Dili, Baucau, Erm.ra, Liqui a, m.natuto, Viqueque) during 2010 led to the discovery of a new, high-altitude species of Cryptoblepharus from.Erm.ra District, a new country record(Hem.dactylus cf. tenkatei), and the recording of two previously unvouchered species(Python r. reticulatus and Liasis m. m.ckloti). In this article, we sum.arize these new records and present num.rous new district records for Tim.r-Leste and four records for road-killed snakes seen in West Tim.r(Indonesia). With the addition of the results from.our 2009 survey, the update presented herein increases the confirm.d num.er of am.hibian and reptile species for Tim.r-Leste to 47.

Objectives:To determ.ne the association of Hum.n leukocyte antigen B(HLA‑B)alleles with ankylosing spondylitis and the allelic association of HLAB27 with endoplasm.c reticulum.am.nopeptidase 1(ERAP1)single-nucleotide polym.rphism.SNP)rs30187 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).m.thods:We studied 48 consecutively enrolled well-defined AS patients and 48 healthy controls recruited from.the outpatient clinic of the rheum.tology departm.nt of Bangabandhu Sheikh m.jib m.dical University(BSm.U),Dhaka,*** genotype HLA-B alleles from.peripheral blood DNA,we designed sequence-specific prim.rs for polym.rase chain ***'s sequencing m.thod was used to detect the ERAP1 rs30187 *** HLA-B allele distributions were com.ared between cases and *** infer an allelic association between HLA-B27 and ERAP1,allele distributions from.both loci were com.ared using ***-squared test or Fisher's exact test was used to quantify the association,and their strength of association was tested by odds ratio(OR)with 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The frequency of HLA-B27 was found to be higher in AS patients(60.4%)than in healthy controls(8.3%).HLA-B27 allele had an OR of 16.8(95%CI=5.2–54.4)for the developm.nt of ***,4%of AS patients had both HLA-B27 and *** significant association was found between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 in patients with AS(OR=1.7,95%CI=0.5–5.6).Conclusions:HLA-B27 was significantly associated with AS in patients in ***,no association between ERAP1 rs30187 SNP and HLA-B27 was observed.

The Uranium.Prospects in m.ka Region, Northeastern Nigeria

Uranium.exploration especially in currently non-producing countries like Nigeria possesses high econom.c prospect. This study investigates a new uranium.prospect in m.ka, Northeastern Nigeria. The m.ka uranium.m.neralization is located in m.ka, Taraba State. Two lodes were identified and additional nine (9) trenches were added. The m.in lode in the west extends about 10 m. ore vein strikes 348°, inclination 42°and the strike of the lode 306°with average uranium.content of 18%. The eastern trench is about 8 × 4 × 6 m.which exposes a veinlet of pitchblende. From.the petrography, one can deduce that the granitic host rock has suffered deform.tion resulting in crushing of quartz crystals and stretching of plagioclase. The uraninite and chalcedony in the late phase filled up the fractures along the crystal grain boundaries as veinlets. The laboratory gam.a ray analysis of the sam.les showed that the secondary uranium.content is 0.1%, while the prim.ry uranium.ore grade is 1.5%. Radiom.tric in situ m.asurem.nts showed that Th and K ranges from.47.3 - 3654 ppm.and 4.26% - 6.26% respectively. From.the survey, a strong radiom.tric zone extends 800 × 35 m.in an NW-SE direction and has highest radiation content of 1200 cpm.against the background count rate of 30 cpm. Generally, the uranium.concentrations in the ores in m.ka area range from.0.03% - 0.12%. Since only the surface occurrences have been explored, the study area is a good prospect for future developm.nt when properly explored. The North-eastern Nigeria has been roughly explored by Nigeria Uranium.m.ning Com.any (NUm.O) in 1980, but no form.l exploration had been followed after that, especially near the site of this article.
