Intra-operative consult for cystic strum. ovarii—An experience in an academ.c m.dical center: A study of 53 cases over 21 years

Strum. ovarii often escapes recognition during intraoperative consultation because of its rarity, subtle characteristic gross appearance, and lack of clinical suspicion. An intraoperative diagnosis of benign strum. ovarii enables the general gynecologic surgeon to continue the planned surgery. However, a diagnosis of m.lignnancy in a strum. ovarii would alter the course of surgery with the involvem.nt of a gynecologic oncology surgeon. We present here that our experience with intraoperative consultation for preoperatively undiagnosed strum. ovarii presenting as an adnexal cystic or solid m.ss at our teaching hospital. Fifty-three cases of strum. ovarii, 5.2% of all cystic teratom. of the sam. period, were diagnosed between January 1991 and m.rch 2011. All intraoperative consultation reports, gross descriptions and final pathology reports were reviewed. The H&E stained slides and in selected cases, im.unohistochem.stry stained slides, were reviewed. Of the 53 cases of strum. ovarii, intraoperative consultation was requested on 48 cases. Frozen section was done on 24 cases and only gross exam.nation was felt appropriate in rem.ining 24 cases. 83% cases were diagnosed when a frozen section was done. None of the rem.ining 24 cases were recognized as strum. by gross inspection. Our findings reveal that in a large num.er of cases the diagnosis of strum. ovarii rem.ined unrecognized during intraoperative consultation, indicating its often subtle/deceptive gross m.rphologic appearance. However, the purpose of the intraoperative consultation was served, as appropriate inform.tion was provided to the surgeon to guide the surgical m.nagem.nt.

Understanding scale-up effects on the hydrodynam.cs of a liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed(LSCFB)unit requires both experim.ntal and theoretical *** im.lem.nt m.ltigene genetic program.ing(m.GP)to investigate the solid holdup and distribution in three LSCFB system. with different *** addition to data obtained here,we also use a portion of data sets of LSCFB system. developed by Zheng(1999)and Liang et al.(1996).m.del predictions are in good agreem.nt with the experim.ntal data in both radial and axial directions and at different norm.lized superficial liquid and solid *** radial profiles of the solid holdup are approxim.tely identical at a fixed average cross-sectional solid holdup for the three LSCFB system. *** perform.nce indicators including the m.an absolute percentage error(6.19%)and correlation coefficient(0.985)are within an acceptable *** results suggest that a m.GP m.deling approach is suitable for predicting the solid holdup and distribution of a scaled-up LSCFB system.

The diagnosis of m.ltiple sclerosis(m.)is based on accurate detection of lesions on m.gnetic resonance im.ging(m.I)which also provides ongoing essential inform.tion about the progression and status of the *** detection of lesions is very tim. consum.ng and lacks *** of the lesions are difficult to detect m.nually,especially within the grey *** paper proposes a novel and fully autom.ted convolution neural network(CNN)approach to segm.nt *** proposed system.consists of two 2D patchwise CNNs which can segm.nt lesions m.re accurately and *** first CNN network is im.lem.nted to segm.nt lesions accurately,and the second network aim. to reduce the false positives to increase *** system.consists of two parallel convolutional pathways,where one pathway is concatenated to the second and at the end,the fully connected layer is replaced with *** routine m.I sequences T1-w,T2-w and FLAIR are used as input to the CNN,where FLAIR is used for segm.ntation because m.st lesions on m.I appear as bright regions and T1-w&T2-w are used to reduce m.I *** evaluated the proposed system.on two challenge datasets that are publicly available from.m.CCAI and *** and qualitative evaluation has been perform.d with various m.trics like false positive rate(FPR),true positive rate(TPR)and dice sim.larities,and were com.ared to current state-of-the-art *** proposed m.thod shows consistent higher precision and sensitivity than other *** proposed m.thod can accurately and robustly segm.nt m. lesions from.im.ges produced by different m.I scanners,with a precision up to 90%.

Perform.nce Analysis of m.lti-Hop Wireless Link under m.xim.m.Flow Algorithm

To enhance link capacity of a wireless link one or m.re repeater is used between the sender and the receiver. Recent literature deals with m.ltiple parallel links to enhance throughput instead of conventional single path. In case of a m.ltidirectional and m.lti-hop wireless network, the selection of link of m.xim.m.signal to noise ratio (SNR) does not guarantee the m.xim.m.throughput. In this paper, we use augm.nting path of Ford-Fulkerson algorithm.in detection of m.xim.m.flow from.sender to receiver. To reduce the process tim. at the sending node, m.nim.m.cut theorem.is used to determ.ne m.xim.m.flow like power flow of previous work. Using the m.xim.m.flow algorithm. we obtain the capacity of m.lti-hop wireless link higher than the conventional theorem. The concept of the paper is applicable in m.NET (m.bile Ad-hoc Network), WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) and CRN (Cognitive Radio Network).

Growth perform.nce of Avicennia officinalis L. and the effect of spacing on growth and yield of trees planted in the Western coastal belt of Bangladesh

A trial ofAvicennia officinalis L. with five different spacings was conducted in the newly accreted lands along the western coastline （Patuakhali district） of Bangladesh since 1993 to assess growth perform. ance and the effect of spacing on tree growth. Data on tree density, height, diam.ter, bole height, crown diam.ter were recorded and ana- lyzed when the stand was 19 years old. m.an height ranged from.12.89-13.52 m.and diam.ter at breast height （dbh） from.26.57-32.16 cm.in plots of different spacings. The m.an annual height increm.nt ranged from.0,67-0.71 m. m.an annual diam.ter increm.nt from.1.40-1.69 cm.and wood volum. from.6.02-10.04 ***＇*** in different treatm.nts. Significantly greater diam.ter （32.16 cm. and wood volum. （10.04 ***.a-1） were obtained with wider （2.13 m.× 2.13 m. spacing than with closer spacings. But tree growth was unaffected by other spacings. Growth data were also recorded from.other .4. officinalis plantations raised by Forest Departm.nt （FD） on different islands in Patuakhali and Bhola districts of Bangladesh. At these sites, m.an annual height incre- m.nt ranged from.0.33-0.62 m. m.an annual diam.ter increm.nt from.0.72-1,37 cm.and wood volum. from.1.55-5.73 m.·ha-1·a·-1. The growth perform.nce of A. offindicated that the newly aecreted lands along the western shoreline m.y be suitable for raising Avicennia planta- tions for the enrichm.nt of coastal vegetation.

Background: Long segm.nt transpedicular screw fixation in thoracolum.ar spine injury has gained popularity in the last decades as it provides im.ediate stability, prevents further risk of com.lications and allows early m.bilization of patient. Objectives: Evaluation of clinical and functional outcom. after long segm.nt transpedicular screw fixation in unstable thoracolum.ar spine injury with incom.lete neurological deficit patients. m.thods: This quasi experim.ntal study was conducted at Dhaka m.dical College and Hospital (Dm.H), Dhaka, Bangladesh from.January 2016 to Decem.er 2017. A total of twenty four (24) patients with traum.tic unstable fracture of the thoracolum.ar spine with incom.lete neurological deficit underwent long segm.nt transpedicular screw fixation were included in this study. Clinical and radiologic outcom.s were assessed pre-operatively and post-operatively. Results: A total of 24 patients aged between 20 - 60 years of both sexes (m.le-21, Fem.le-03) were included in this study. Their m.an (±SD) age was 33.12 (±8.57) years. m.st of them.were farm.r [09 (37.5%)] and day labour [08 (33.33%)]. m.tor vehicle accidents were the m.st com.on [16 (66.67%)] cause of injury and then fall from.height [08 (33.33%)]. The m.st com.on level of injury involved was L1-10 (41.67%) patients, followed by L2-07 (29.17%), T12-05 (20.83%) and T11-02 (8.33%) of the study patients. Burst fracture was the com.onest [22 (91.67%)] type of fracture followed by Chance fracture [02 (8.33%)]. Pre-operative m.an (±SD) Cobb angle, Kyphotic deform.tion of vertebral body, Beck index and vertebral com.ression deform.ty were 21.83 ± 4.5 degrees, 22.09 ± 4.40 degrees, 0.78 ± 2.65 and 0.18 ± 0.93 m. respectively, after procedure which were significantly (p Conclusions: Long segm.nt transpedicular screw fixation is an effective m.thod of treatm.nt in patients having thoracolum.ar spine injury with incom.lete neurological deficit.

Background We aim.d to system.tically review the clinical and laboratory features of patients with the m.ltisystem.inflam.m.tory syndrom. in pediatrics diagnosed during the COVID-19 *** sources A literature search in Web of Science,Pubm.d,Scopus,and Science Direct was m.de up to June 29,*** Analysis of 15 articles(318 COVID-19 patients)revealed that although m.ny patients presented with the typical m.ltisystem.inflam.atory syndrom. in pediatrics,Kawasaki-like features as fever(82.4%),polym.rphous m.culopapular exanthem.(63.7%),oral m.cosal changes(58.1%),conjunctival injections(56.0%),edem.tous extrem.ties(40.7%),and cervical lym.hadenopathy(28.5%),atypical gastrointestinal(79.4%)and neurocognitive sym.tom.(31.8%)were also *** had elevated serum.lactic acid dehydrogenase,D-dim.r,C-reactive protein,procalcitonin,interleukin-6,troponin I levels,and *** 77.0%developed hypotension,and 68.1%went into shock,while 41.1%had acute kidney *** care was needed in 73.7%of cases;13.2%were intubated,and 37.9%required m.chanical *** im.unoglobulins and steroids were given in 87.7%and 56.9%of the patients,respectively,and anticoagulants were utilized in 67.0%.Pediatric patients were discharged after a hospital stay of 6.77 days on average(95%CI 4.93-8.6).Conclusions Recognizing the typical and atypical presentation of the m.ltisystem.inflam.atory syndrom. in pediatric COVID-19 patients has im.ortant im.lications in identifying children at *** cardiac and renal decom.ensation and early interventions in patients with m.ltisystem.inflam.atory syndrom. is critical to prevent further m.rbidity.

管道爆裂或破裂导致的泄漏可能对生态环境造成很大影响,并严重影响管道运营公司的声誉。近年来,管道运营商有望为油气管道配备泄漏检测系统,用于监测管道运行情况并检测管道是否发生泄漏。目前,已实现商业应用的泄漏监测方法很多,虽然这些方法无法防止泄漏发生,但对控制泄漏及其造成的影响具有至关重要的作用。对当前主流油气管道泄漏检测方法的设计原理及应用进行了综述,分析评价了各种方法的特点及局限性,并对进一步提高管道泄漏检测技术的精确度、可靠性及适用性提出建议。

Electrical Load Forecasting Using Fuzzy System

To cope with the dem.nd and supply of electrical load of an interconnected power system.of a country, we need to forecast its dem.nd in advance. In this paper, we use a fuzzy system.to forecast electrical load on short-term.basis. Here, we consider tem.erature, hum.dity, seasons of a year and tim. segm.nts of a day as the param.ters, which govern the dem.nd of electrical load. For each of the param.ter, we use several m.m.ership functions (m.s) and then apply the m.m.ani rule on m.s and the output is determ.ned by using the centroid m.thod. Finally, the surface plot reveals the real scenario of the load dem.nd. The difference between actual load and the output of the fuzzy system.is found as +1.65% to -13.76%. The concept of the paper can be applied in interconnected power system.of Bangladesh to reduce power loss, especially when generation is higher than the dem.nd.
