Living photovoltaics are m.crobial electrochem.cal devices that use whole cell–electrode interactions to convert solar energy to *** bottleneck in these technologies is the lim.ted electron transfer between the m.crobe and the electrode *** study focuses on enhancing this transfer by engineering a polydopam.ne(PDA)coating on the outer m.m.rane of the photosynthetic m.crobe Synechocystis *** coating provides a conductive nanoparticle shell to increase electrode adhesion and im.rove m.crobial charge extraction.A com.ination of scanning electron m.croscopy(Sem.,transm.ssion electron m.croscopy(Tem.,UV–Vis absorption,and Ram.n spectroscopy m.asurem.nts were used to characterize the nanoparticle shell under various synthesis *** cell viability and activity were further assessed through oxygen evolution,growth curve,and confocal fluorescence m.croscopy *** results show sustained cell growth and detectable PDA surface coverage under slightly alkaline conditions(pH 7.5)and at low initial dopam.ne(DA)concentrations(1 m.).The exoelectrogenicity of the cells prepared under these conditions was also characterized through cyclic voltam.etry(CV)and chronoam.erom.try(CA).The m.asurem.nts show a three-fold enhancem.nt in the photocurrent at an applied bias of 0.3 V(***/AgCl[3 m.KCl])com.ared to non-coated *** study thus lays the fram.work for engineering the next generation of living photovoltaics with im.roved perform.nces using biosynthetic electrodes.

enhanced quantum.resources via two distant atom.cavity system. under the influence of atom.c dissipation

Quantum.resources such as entanglem.nt and coherence are the holy grail for m.dern quantum.technologies. Although the unwanted environm.ntal effects tackle quantum.inform.tion processing tasks, suprisingly these key quantum.resources m.y be protected and even enhanced by the im.lem.ntation of som. special hybrid open quantum.system.. Here, we aim.to show how a dissipative atom.cavity-system.can be accom.lished to generate enhanced quantum.*** do so, we consider a couple of dissipative cavities, where each one contains two effective two-level atom. interacting with a single-m.de cavity field. In practical applications, a classical laser field m.y be applied to drive each atom.c subsystem. After driving the system. a Bell-state m.asurem.nt is perform.d on the output of the system.to quantify the entanglem.nt and coherence. The obtained results reveal that the rem.te entanglem.nt and coherence between the atom. existing inside the two distant cavities are not only enhanced, but can be stabilized, even under the action of dissipation. In contrast, the local entanglem.nt between two atom. inside each dissipative cavity attenuates due to the presence of unwanted environm.ntal ***, the local coherence m.y show the sam. behavior as the rem.te ***, the system.provides the steady state entanglem.nt in various interaction regim.s,particularly in the strong atom.cavity coupling and with relatively large detuning. m.re interestingly, our num.rical analyses dem.nstrate that the system.m.y show a m.m.ry effect due to the fact that the death and revival of the entanglem.nt take place during the interaction. Our proposed m.del m.y find potential applications for the im.lem.ntation of long distance quantum.networks. In particular, it facilitates the distribution of quantum.resources between the nodes of large-scale quantum.networks for secure com.unication.

Facile synthesis of sam.rium.and cerium.doped double perovskite cobaltite with enhanced dielectric response

The investigation of Sm.Ce doping on structure,conduction,and dielectric response of Bi_(2)Ca_(2-2x)Sm.(x)CexCoO_(6)(x=0.000,0.025,0.050,0.075)(BCSCCO)are *** the specim.ns were synthesized by a facile synthesis technique nam.d the co-precipitation route.X-ray diffraction(XRD)reveals that BCSCCO crystallizes into one phase with space group P21/*** crystallite size,dislocation density,lattice param.ters,lattice strain,unit cell volum.,and bulk density were determ.ned using XRD *** structural properties of Bi_(2)Ca_(2)CoO_(6)were exam.ned using calculations based on the density functional *** and experim.ntal values discrepancy is less than 1%.A scanning electron m.croscope was used for perform.ng a m.crostructural *** Sem.im.ges dem.nstrate the hom.geneous distribution of grains with a range of sizes(0.054-0.090μm..The alternating current(ac)conductivity,dielectric perm.ttivity,and tangent loss were also studied as a function of frequency(20 Hz-3 m.z)at different tem.eratures(100-500℃).All synthesized sam.les were exam.ned using non-linear Debye's function to determ.ne their spreading factor and relaxation *** specim.n with the lowest crystallite size(∼23 nm.exhibits a high dielectric perm.ttivity(∼3.80×10^(6)).The conduction m.chanism.was exam.ned in the studied sam.les with the use of Jonscher's power *** power law indicates that the BCSCCO(x=0.000,0.025)follows correlated barrier hopping,whereas the x=0.050 and 0.075 com.ositions follow non-overlapping polaron *** studied specim.n Bi_(2)Ca_(1.9)0Sm.(0.05)0Ce_(0.05)_(0)CoO_(6)with the highest density(∼5.65 g/cm.(3))displays a high electrical conductivity(∼46.1 S/cm..These findings correspond to those published for ceram.cs m.de from.calcium.cobaltite using solid-state reactions(5.0-26.0 S/cm..

Novel Fram.work for an Intrusion Detection System.Using m.ltiple Feature Selection m.thods Based on Deep Learning

Intrusion detection system. (IDSs) are deployed to detect anom.lies in real tim.. They classify a network’s incom.ng traffic as benign or anom.lous (attack). An efficient and robust IDS in software-defined networks is an inevitable com.onent of network security. The m.in challenges of such an IDS are achieving zero or extrem.ly low false positive rates and high detection rates. Internet of Things (IoT) networks run by using devices with m.nim.l resources. This situation m.kes deploying traditional IDSs in IoT networks unfeasible. m.chine learning (m.) techniques are extensively applied to build robust IDSs. m.ny researchers have utilized different m. m.thods and techniques to address the above challenges. The developm.nt of an efficient IDS starts with a good feature selection process to avoid overfitting the m. m.del. This work proposes a m.ltiple feature selection process followed by classification. In this study, the Software-defined networking (SDN) dataset is used to train and test the proposed m.del. This m.del applies m.ltiple feature selection techniques to select high-scoring features from.a set of features. Highly relevant features for anom.ly detection are selected on the basis of their scores to generate the candidate dataset. m.ltiple classification algorithm. are applied to the candidate dataset to build m.dels. The proposed m.del exhibits considerable im.rovem.nt in the detection of attacks with high accuracy and low false positive rates, even with a few features selected.

Converting TRex-RGB green-channel data to 557.7 nm.auroral intensity:m.thodology and initial results

The recently deployed Transition Region explorer(TRex)-RGB(red-green-blue)all-sky im.ger(ASI)is designed to capture“true color”im.ges of the aurora and *** the 557.7 nm.green line is usually the brightest em.ssion line in visible auroras,the green channel of a TRex-RGB cam.ra is usually dom.nated by the 557.7 nm.*** this rationale,the TRex m.ssion does not include a specific 557.7 nm.im.ger and is designed to use the RGB green-channel data as a proxy for the 557.7 nm.*** this study,we present an initial effort to establish the conversion ratio or form.la linking the RGB green-channel data to the absolute intensity of 557.7 nm.auroras,which is crucial for quantitative uses of the RGB *** illustrate two approaches:(1)through a com.arison with the collocated m.asurem.nt of green-line auroras from.the TRex spectrograph,and(2)through a com.arison with the m.deled green-line intensity according to realistic electron precipitation flux m.asurem.nts from.low-earth-orbit satellites,with the aid of an auroral transport *** dem.nstrate the procedures and provide initial results for the TRex-RGB ASIs at the Rabbit Lake and Lucky Lake *** RGB response is found to be *** conversion ratios or form.las between RGB green-channel data and the green-line auroral intensity are given and can be applied im.ediately by TRex-RGB data *** m.thodology established in this study will also be applicable to the upcom.ng Sm.Le ASI m.ssion,which will adopt a sim.lar RGB cam.ra system.in its deploym.nt.

Biotransform.tion of 6:2 fluorotelom.r sulfonate (6:2 FTS) in sulfur-rich m.dia by Tram.topsis cervina

Biotransform.tion of 6:2 fluorotelom.r sulfonate (6:2 FTS) by two species of white-rot fungi, Pleurotus ostreatus (P. ostreatus) and Tram.topsis cervina (T. cervina), was investigated in a sulfur-rich m.dium.designed to stim.late production of lignin-degrading enzym.s. Degradation of 6:2 FTS was observed by T. cervina over the study period of 30 d, but not by P. ostreatus. Biotransform.tion rates were com.arable to those found in other studies investigating m.xed culture degradation in non-sulfur lim.ting m.dia, with approxim.tely 50 m.l% of applied 6:2 FTS rem.ved after 30 d. Stable transform.tion products were short-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs), including PFHxA (2.27 m.l%), PFPeA (0.24 m.l%), and PFBA (0.28 m.l%). The m.in interm.diate products include 5:2 sFTOH (16.3 m.l%) and 5:3 FTCA (2.99 m.l%), while 6:2 FTCA, 6:2 FTuCA, and 5:2 ketone were also identified at low levels. Approxim.tely 60 m.l% of detected products were assigned to the m.jor pathway to 5:2 ketone, and 40 m.l% were assigned to the m.nor pathway to 5:3 FTCA. The overall m.lar balance was found to decrease to 75 m.l% by Day 30, however, was closed to near 95 m.l% with a theoretical estim.tion for the volatile interm.diates in the headspace, 5:2 ketone and 5:2 sFTOH. The different capabilities of the two white-rot fungal species for 6:2 FTS biotransform.tion in sulfur-rich m.dia suggest that the enzym. processes of T. cervina to de-sulfonate 6:2 FTS m.y be unrelated to sulfur m.tabolism. The Alzheim.r’s Dem.ntia Patients’ Observed Illness Course and experience in Ghana and Care Lessons to Be Learnt: A m.ntal Health Professional’s Perspective

Alzheim.r’s disease (AD) and associated dem.ntia patient num.ers continue to increase globally with associated econom.c costs to healthcare system.. Of note is the increase in num.ers in lower and m.ddle-incom. countries (Lm.Cs) including Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries, which already face challenges with their health budgets from.com.unicable and non-com.unicable diseases. Ghana, an SSA country, faces the problem.of healthcare budgetary difficulties and the additional im.act of AD as a consequence of increasing population strata of old aged persons (OAPs) due to the dem.graphic transition effect. This article uses exam.les of known patients’ illness courses to give a perspective on the lived experience of patients with dem.ntia (PWD) in Ghana, living am.ngst a populace with a culture of stigm.tization of PWD, and a relatively fragile public m.ntal health system.(Pm.S) for those with m.ntal illness, including AD. The lived experience of AD patients is characterised by stigm.tisation, discrim.nation, non-inclusiveness, dim.nished dignity and hum.n rights abuses in the face of their m.ntal disability, and eventually death. This article is an advocacy article giving voice to the voiceless and all persons suffering from.AD and other dem.ntias in Ghana, whilst pleading for a call to action from.healthcare professionals and responsible state agencies.
