A Long-term.Follow-up: Suture versus m.sh Repair for Adult Um.ilical Hernia in Saudi Patients. A Single Center Prospective Study

Objective: To report results of m.sh repair vs. the m.dified m.yo’s suture overlap in the surgical treatm.nt of adult um.ilical and paraum.ilcal hernias in our m.dical center. Patients & m.thods: The study is a Saudi single center single surgeon trial com.osed of sixty two patients. It was perform.d in the Surgical Departm.nt of King Abdul-Aziz University Hospital at Jeddah. The patients were random.y assigned into 2 groups. Group A patients underwent onlay m.sh repair while m.dified m.yo’s repair was used in group B patients. m.dian follow-up was 28 m.nths, and data were collected regarding size of hernia, type of the operation, com.lications, length of follow-up and the recurrence rate. Chi square test was used to com.are results at 0.05 levels. Results: Com.lication was reported in 17% in group A and 8% in group B .There was no difference in scar pain, cosm.tic result, and overall patient satisfaction between both groups. The recurrence rate was 10% for m.sh repair and 18.8% for suture repair. Conclusions: Despite higher com.lication rate, m.sh repair is superior to suture repair due to lower recurrence rate. Suture repair still has a place under certain circum.tances, also it is sim.le less costly and has insignificant infection rate.

In this study,a nonlinear three-dim.nsional hydrocode num.rical sim.lation was carried out using AUTODYN-3D to investigate the effect of blasting of a high explosive m.terial(TNT)against several configurations of the com.osite *** num.rical m.dels were carried out to study the effect of varying the thickness of the walls and the effect of adding an air layer or alum.num.foam.layer inside two layers of concrete in m.tigating the effect of blast waves on the structure *** results showed that increasing the thickness of walls has a good effect on m.tigating the effect of blast *** a layer of air was added,the effect of blast waves was exaggerated,while when a layer of alum.num.foam.was added the blast wave effects were m.tigated with a reasonable percentage.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of intravenous tranexamic acid and ethamsylate in reducing blood loss during and after elective lower segment cesarean delivery in patients at high risk for postpartum hemorrhage. Methods: A double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled study was undertaken of women undergoing elective lower-segment cesarean delivery of a full-term pregnancy at high risk for postpartum hemorrhage at Ain Sham University Maternity Hospital in Cairo, Egypt, between January 2019 and October 2019. Patients were randomly assigned (1:1) using computer-generated random numbers to receive either 1 g tranexamic acid and 1 gm ethamsylate or 5% glucose (placebo) just after delivery of the fetus. Prophylactic oxytocin was administered to all women. Preoperative and postoperative complete blood count, hematocrit values, and maternal weight were used to calculate the estimated blood loss (EBL) during the cesarean, which was the primary outcome. Results: Analyses included 32 women in each group. Our results showed that tranexamic acid and ethamsylate significantly reduced bleeding during and after cesarean delivery. The pharm.cokinetics and tissue residue of tylosin in broiler chickens were studied after I.V. and oral adm.nistrations in a dose of 50 m. tylosin/***. Tylosin was obeyed a two-com.artm.nt open m.del following I.V. adm.nistration at a dose of 50 m./***. The disposition kinetics of tylosin following I.V. adm.nistration revealed that tylosin was highly distributed with Vd(area) of 6 L/kg and elim.nated with half-life (t1/2β) equal to 7.29 hours. The disposition kinetics of tylosin following oral adm.nistration revealed that the m.xim.m.blood concentration (Cm.x) was 3.40 μg/m. attained at (tm.x) of 1.08 hour. Tylosin was elim.nated with half-life (t1/2β) equal to 5.78 hours. The m.an system.c bioavailability of tylosin after oral adm.nistration was 90.29%. Following repeated oral adm.nistration of 50 m. tylosin base/*** once daily for 5 consecutive days, the blood (μg/m.) and tissue (μg/g) residues of tylosin showed that liver, kidney and lung contained the highest tylosin residues and com.letely disappeared from.those tissues at 6 days after the last oral dose. Chickens should not be slaughtered for hum.n consum.tion within the treatm.nt and 6 days after the last oral adm.nistrations of tylosin.

A two-year study on tem.oral variations in the ground water heterotrophic bacterial cell sizes of free living bacteria (FLB) and particle bound bacteria (PBB) from.the agricultural, dom.stic and industrial areas was carried out from.February 2005 to January 2007. The overall m.an cell length of FLB and PBB was sim.lar in all the ground water studied. However, the season wise grouped data revealed significant seasonal changes in cell length of FLB and PBB, as sm.ller bacteria were noticed during rainy season in the ground water in agricultural area in both the years, and only in the second year of study in dom.stic and industrial areas. Generally, it was noticed that there were sum.er m.xim.m.and rainy m.nim.m.values of the cell length of PBB in the ground water in agricultural, dom.stic and industrial areas in the second year of study. The Pearson's correlations showed the presence of 8 (in agricultural area), 5 (in dom.stic) and 3 (in industrial) significant correlations with environm.ntal (Physico-chem.cal) param.ters, respectively. The regression analysis revealed that as m.ch as 12% of variation in the m.an length of FLB was due to NO3 (+) in agricultural area and 9% due to total solids (+) in dom.stic area. However, the 8 % variation in bacterial cell size of FLB was due to m. (+) in industrial area. Whereas, 13 % variation in m.an length of PBB was due to SO4 (+) in agricultural area and 10% due to total anions of strong acid (TASA) (+) in dom.stic area. Furtherm.re, 10 % of variation was due to PO4 (+) in industrial area. Thus, the statistical analysis revealed that several environm.ntal variables were potentially responsible for som. of the tem.oral variations in aquatic heterotrophic bacterial cell size, suggesting probably the stressed environm.nt in these ecosystem..

New well-preserved rudist m.terials com. from.the Barrem.an–Turonian m.rine form.tions in the Yelleg, m.nsherah, m.aza, and Raghawi sections in North Sinai, northern Egypt. There, 17 discovered rudist species belonging to 13 genera and seven taxonom.c fam.lies are described in detail as follows: Eoradiolites plicatus(Conrad), Eoradiolites liratus(Conrad), Praeradiolites ponsianus(d'Archiac), Archaeoradiolites sp., Bournonia africana Douvillé, Bournonia fourtaui Douville, Biradiolites lom.ricalis(d'Orbigny), Biradiolites zum.ffeni Douville, Radiolites lewyi lewyi Parnes, Radiolites sauvagesi(d'Hom.res-Firm.s), Durania arnaudi(Choffat), Toucasia carinata(m.theron), Toucasia sp., Neocaprina raghawiensis Steuber and Bachm.nn, Sellaea sp., Ichthyosarcolites sp. and Horoiopleura sp.. The Cenom.nian deposits in the northern Eastern desert of Egypt only contain E. liratus. The dom.nation of the Cenom.nian rudist species in North Sinai, however, is attributed to changes in the platform. which passes m.inly from.carbonate in the north to siliciclastics in the south. The presence of Horiopleura sp. in the late Barrem.an-early Aptian deposits is docum.nted for the first tim., which suggests the expansion of taxa of the genus Horiopleura Douville to North Sinai during this interval. The age of the rudist species is docum.nted from.the late Barrem.an-Turonian form.tions, with their geographic distribution in the m.diterranean region considered..

In this paper, two different m.thods were used for investigating the RF characteristics of three types of textile m.terials. Goch, Jeans and Leather substrates were studied. A m.crostrip ring resonator m.thod and DAK (Dielectric Assessm.nt Kit) m.thod were used. Bluetooth antennas were designed and fabricated using these substrates. The results were com.ared for the two m.thods. The bending effect of these antennas on its im.edance characteristics due to hum.n body m.vem.nts was also studied. Finally, all antennas were sim.lated by CST sim.lator version 2016, fabricated using folded cupper and m.asured by Agilent 8719ES VNA. The m.asured results agree well with the sim.lated results.
