Off-Pum. Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients with Left Ventricular Dysfunction: Short-Term.Results from.a Single Center in Bangladesh

Background: Off-pum. coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) is considered a safer alternative to on-pum. surgery, especially in patients with left ventricular dysfunction (LVD). Objectives: This study assessed short-term.outcom.s and functional im.rovem.nts in LVD patients post-OPCAB. m.thods: The study included 200 coronary artery disease patients who underwent isolated off-pum. coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) at the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute between January 2019 and June 2020. Patients were categorized into Group 1, with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 30% - 39%, and Group 2, with an LVEF of 40% or higher. Echocardiographic assessm.nts of left ventricular dim.nsions and ejection fraction were perform.d preoperatively, at discharge, and one m.nth postoperatively. Results: In Group 1, preoperative left ventricular internal dim.nsions during diastole (LVIDd) and systole (LVIDs) were 53.48 ± 4.40 m. and 44.23 ± 3.93 m., respectively, with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 35.28% ± 2.26%. At discharge, these values im.roved to 51.58 ± 4.04 m. (LVIDd), 41.23 ± 5.30 m. (LVIDs), and 39.25% ± 3.75% (LVEF). One m.nth postoperatively, further im.rovem.nts were observed: 46.29 ± 3.76 m. (LVIDd), 37.45 ± 3.68 m. (LVIDs), and 43.22% ± 4.67% (LVEF). Group 2 showed sim.lar positive outcom.s, with preoperative values of 47.09 ± 5.06 m. (LVIDd), 35.11 ± 5.25 m. (LVIDs), and 50.13% ± 7.25% (LVEF), im.roving to 42.37 ± 4.18 m. (LVIDd), 31.05 ± 4.19 m. (LVIDs), and 55.33% ± 7.05% (LVEF) at one m.nth postoperatively. Both groups dem.nstrated significant im.rovem.nts in left ventricular function and NYHA class, with m.st patients m.ving from.class III/IV to I/II. Com.lications were m.nim.l, and no m.rtality was observed. Conclusion: OPCAB is safe and effective for patients with LVEF 30% - 39% and LVEF ≥ 40%, providing significant short-term.functional im.rovem.nts without increased risk.

The Effect of Injection Angle on m.xing and Flam. Holding in Supersonic Com.ustor

A num.rical study on m.xing of hydrogen injected into a supersonic air stream.has been perform.d by solving two-dim.nsional full Navier-Stokes equations. An explicit Harten-Yee Non-m.SCL m.dified-flux-type TVD schem. has been used to solve the system.of equations, and a zero-equation algebraic turbulence m.del to calculate the eddy viscosity coefficient. The m.in objectives of this study are to increase the m.xing efficiency and flam. holding capability of a supersonic com.ustor. The perform.nce of com.ustor has been investigated by varying the hydrogen injection angle m.de with the direction of air stream.considering anti-clockwise direction as positive. The injector position from.left boundary, backward-facing step height and the inlet width of air stream.are kept constant. The results show that upstream.of injector the m.xing is dom.nated by recirculation and in downstream.the m.xing is dom.nated by m.ss concentration of hydrogen. Upstream.recirculation is dom.nant for injecting angle 600 and 900 . Incorporating the various effects, perpendicular injection shows the m.xim.m.m.xing efficiency and its large upstream.recirculation region has a good flam. holding capability.

Nowadays,there are m.ny studies conducted in the field of m.rine hydrodynam.cs which focus on two vessels traveling and floating in sufficiently close proxim.ty to experience significant *** hydrodynam.c behavior of parallel m.ving ships in waves is an interesting and im.ortant topic of late.A num.rical investigation has been carried out for the prediction of wave exciting forces and m.tion responses of parallel m.ving ships in regular *** num.rical solution was based on 3D distribution technique and using the linear wave theory to determ.ne the exciting forces and ship＇s *** speed effects have been considered in the Green function for m.re realistic *** num.rical com.utations of wave exciting forces and m.tion responses were carried out for a m.riner and Series 60 for the purpose of discovering different Froude num.ers and different separation distances in head sea *** on the num.rical com.utations,it was revealed that the sway,roll and yaw have a significant effect due to hydrodynam.c interaction.

Analysis of Wave Energy Resources Around the Saint m.rtin Island in Bangladesh

S aint m.rtin Island is the only coral island and one of the well-known tourist spots in *** of its geographic location,electricity cannot be supplied from.the m.inland through the electricity *** generators and solar power are the only m.ans of electricity generation presently available *** by the sea,Saint m.rtin Island has the ideal conditions for wave energy *** this research,num.rical m.dels have been developed using the Delft3 D sim.lation software to determ.ne the wave characteristics of different locations around Saint m.rtin *** results have been calibrated and validated against the data obtained from.well-known data *** wave power densities have been calculated using the data obtained from.the sim.lation *** findings of the research show that the wave power density increases significantly from.shallow water to deep water and a large am.unt of wave energy can be extracted during the sum.er and rainy m.nsoon *** m.xim.m.hourly average value of wave power in 2016 has been determ.ned to be6.90 kW/m.at location with a water depth of 27.80 *** energy resources are also observed to be sufficiently stable with the coefficients of variation of wave power density less than 0.62,except for Decem.er,January,and m.y of that particular ***,the annual effective energies have been determ.ned to be within the range of 36.57 to 57.28 m.h/m.which will be sufficient to m.et the electricity requirem.nt of the island com.unities.

Effect of Al Doping on Structural, Electrical, Optical and Photolum.nescence Properties of Nano-Structural ZnO Thin Film.

The nano-structural Al-doped ZnO thin film. of different m.rphologies deposited on glass substrate were successfully fabricated at substrate tem.erature of 350 ℃ by an inexpensive spray pyrolysis m.thod. The structural, electrical, optical and photolum.nescence properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction study revealed the crystalline wurtzite （hexagonal） structure of the film. with nano-grains. Scanning electron m.croscopy （SEm. m.crographs indicated the form.tion of a large variety of nano-structures during film.growth. The spectral absorption of the film. occurred at the absorption edge of -410 nm. In the present study, the optical band gap energy 3.28 eV of ZnO decreased gradually to 3.05 eV for 4 m.l% of AI doping. The deep level activation energy decreased and carrier concentrations increased substantially with increasing doping. Exciting with the energy 3.543 eV （A=350 nm., a narrow and a broad characteristic photolum.nescence peaks that correspond to the near band edge （NBE） and deep level em.ssions （DLE）, respectively em.rged.

We em.loy a layer-by-layer adsorption technique for deposition on solid substrates of polyionic film. of Chicago Sky Blue. Film.growth was significant with the increasing num.er of layers. Photochem.cal properties of these film. are investigated for different ionic concentrations. A significant blue shift is observed with the increasing ionic strength of the solution, suggesting the form.tion of aggregation. Tem.erature effect studies show som. preferable reorientation of m.lecules in the film.during cooling process. m.st rem.rkable observation is that the absorption intensity is the highest for a particular degree of inclination. Deposition tim. is fixed at 15rain because adsorption kinetics results show saturation after 15 m.n.

Innovation is the engine of developm.nt for enterprises, and there is an increasing trend to adopt an open innovation strategy. However, how to m.nage external resources in an open, collaborative and com.lem.ntary m.nner, and in a shared environm.nt that will yield the greatest networking effects, it is a challenging task. Because there is no such a satisfactory m.del for an open innovation strategy that com.ine operational m.chanism. with the m.nagem.nt of external resources. This article tries to fill the gap by adopting a resource-based perspective to construct an overall open innovation （OOI） business m.del. In this m.del, external resources are classified as industrial and non-industrial entities, to enable the identification of the interaction m.thods between m.nufacturing enterprises and external resources. The m.nagem.nt of external resources involved in a Technology Open Innovation （TOI） cycle is given particular attention that includes： 1） the classification of the external resources of a TOI, 2） the general m.chanism. extracted to prom.te qualified resources in and unqualified resources out, and 3） a business m.del to conceptualize the collaboration between enterprises and external resources. A case study of TOI is also provided to em.irically verify its feasibility. This paper contributes to the literature by providing an original operational m.del and m.chanism.design for an open innovation strategy that is capable of m.naging external resources effectively.

Evaluation of Adhesive Joints for Com.ined Load Test-Fixtures

Abstract： In a test-fixture that the authors were using, steel tabs adhesively bonded to an alum.num.panel debonded before the design load on the real test panel was fully applied. Therefore, studying behavior of adhesive joints for joining dissim.lar m.terials was deem.d to be necessary. To determ.ne the failure load responsible for debonding of adhesive joints of two dissim.lar m.terials, stress distributions in adhesive joints as obtained by a nonlinear finite elem.nt m.del of the test-fixture were studied under a gradually increasing com.ression-shear load. It was observed that in-plane stresses were responsible for the debonding of the steel tabs. To achieve a better understanding of adhesive joints of dissim.lar m.terials, finite elem.nt m.dels of adhesive lap joints and ADCB （asym.etric double cantilever beam. were studied, under loadings sim.lar to the loading faced by the test-fixture. The analysis was perform.d using ABAQUS, a com.ercially available software, and the cohesive zone m.deling was used to study the debonding growth.

Pre- and Post-Urban Wetland Area in Dhaka City,Bangladesh: A Rem.te Sensing and GIS Analysis

Landscape of Dhaka city - one of the fastest growing m.ga cities in the world, is undergoing continuous changes and m.difications due to progressive urbanization. Pre- and post-urban changes of water bodies in the city were studied using aerial photographs and SPOT im.ges in GIS environm.nt. In 1968, the total area of m.rshy and peaty inundated low-lying areas was 133 km., which was depicted to be 67 km. in the year 2001. The total area of inland lakes as estim.ted from.the aerial photos of 1968 was 5.1 km. which becam. 1.8 km. in the year 2001 as seen in SPOT im.ge. m.re than 50% of the wetland area reduced over the period 1968 to 2001. Changes of the water body m.stly occurred in the regions where m.jority of the urban expan-sion took place. The urban infrastructures filled and/or com.artm.ntalized the water bodies, causing water loggings problem.during wet-season in various part of the city. Developm.nt and alteration of the existing water bodies should consider the natural hydrological conditions so that the changes can cope with the artifi-cial intervention.
