Im.unocytochem.cal identification and distribution of the cell types in the pituitary gland of Bagrus bayad(Teleostei, Bagridae)

Im.unocytochem.cal identification of the different cell types in the pituitary gland of Bagrus bayad was perform.d using antisera against m.m.alian (hum.n and rat) and piscine horm.nes. The adenohypophysis was com.osed of rostral pars distalis (RPD), proxim.l pars distalis (PPD) and pars interm.dia (PI). Prolactin and adrenocorticotrophic cells were located in the rostral pars distalis of the pituitary. Gonadotrophic and growth horm.ne cells were distributed in the proxim.l pars distalis, but gonadotrophic cells appear also at the border of the pars interm.dia. Som.tolactin cells, as well as alpha-m.lanotrophic cells were located in the pars interm.dia of B. bayad pitui-tary. The prolactin (PRL) cells were distributed in the RPD stained with orange G and showed strong im.unoreactivity with antiserum.to chum.salm.n. The adrenocorticotrophic (ACTH) cells were lead hem.-toxylin-positive (PbH+) and showed strong im. m.-noreactivity with anti-hum.n ACTH;these cells bor-dered the neurohypophysis and grouped in islets be-tween PRL cells in the RPD. Growth horm.ne (GH) cells were densely distributed with the gonadotrophic (GTH) cells in the PPD. They were orange G positive and reacted with antiserum.to chum.salm.n. GTH cells were located in the central area of the PPD and in the external border of the PI. These cells were Alcyan Blue and PAS positive, and im.unostained with anti-chum.salm.n GTH Iβ and anti-chum.salm.n GTH IIβ. In addition, antiserum.to rat thyrotropin stim.lating horm.ne β (TSHβ) reacted positively to the GTH cells. These results suggest that GTH I, GTH II and TSH are synthesized in the sam. cells in the pituitary of B. bayad. The PI was com.osed m.inly of PbH+ cells and a PAS+ cell adjacent to the neurohypophysis. The PAS+ cells from.the PI bound specifically to anti-chum.som.tolactin. Anti-alpha- m.lanin stim.lating horm.ne (m.H) stained only the PbH+ (alpha-m.lanotrophic) cells of the PI.

Utilization of Sm.ll Size Bolti (Talibia nilotica) and Sardine (Sardina pilchardus) Fish in Preparing Canned Weaning Food Purees

Utilize sm.ll size of bolti and sardine fish in preparing fish based weaning foods rich in protein, essential am.no acids, fat high in om.ga 3 fatty acids, m.nerals and vitam.ns was investigated. The proxim.te com.osition, nutritional value, physical and sensorial properties were evaluated, The results of the chem.cal com.osition showed that the m.isture content of fish based weaning food purees ranged from.67.73% to 72.05%. On dry weight basis, the five prepared form.lations considered rich in protein (37.39% - 44.86%), fat (26.55% - 30.43%), ash (6.53% - 12.23%) and low in carbohydrates (20.70% - 22.18%). Using fish bones with muscles in preparing weaning food puree caused a marked rise in its content of Ca, P, Fe, and Zn levels especially in purees formulated from bolti. Weaning food purees containing sardine fish rich, in fat, were higher in vitamin A and D than those formulated from bolti one. Palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), and myristic acid (C14:0) represented the major saturated fatty acids in the prepared formulations. Weaning food purees containing sardine fish had relatively higher levels of sulfur-m.ly:Verdana;">containing am.no acids and slight lower values of lysine, alanine and glycine than these including bolti fish. m.nagem.nt of acute esophageal variceal bleeding by endoscopic sclerotherapy in technically difficult endoscopic band ligation cases—A population based cohort study

Endoscopic band ligation is regarded as the m.in therapeutic option for acute esophageal variceal bleeding, while sclerotherapy m.y be used in the acute setting if ligation is technically difficult. The incidence of difficult-to-perform.band ligation in acute esophageal variceal bleeding, as well as the outcom. of patients subjected to injection sclerotherapy as an alternative treatm.nt, has not been clearly investigated. Our aim.is to study the outcom. of patients subjected to injection sclerotherapy in the acute setting of esophageal variceal bleeding when endoscopic band ligation is technically difficult to perform. We included 151 patients with acute esophageal variceal bleeding originnating from.m.dium.or large sized varices. All patients were planned for EBL as the 1st treatm.nt option (EBL group 61.6%), m.anwhile, EIS using 5% ethanolam.ne oleate was reserved as the 2nd treatm.nt option when EBL was technically difficult (EIS group 38.4%). The m.an tim. to restore hem.dynam.c stability was significantly prolonged in the EIS group (11.5 ± 6.5 hrs versus 9.5 ± 5.0 hrs, p 0.05). Initial control of bleeding was significantly higher in the EBL group versus the EIS group (96.7% vs 84.5%, p 0.021). Re-bleeding was m.re am.ng the EIS group (42.9% vs 24.2%, p 0.04). There were no significant differences as regarding m.rtality and duration of hospital stay. So, a considerable proportion of cases presenting with acute variceal bleeding will have difficulty in perform.ng EBL. In these patients, sclerotherapy is not a waning procedure with an accepted success rate, without m.ch additional com.lications and without deranging m.rtality.

Im.act of past HBV exposure on virological response to com.ined interferon ribavirin therapy in patients with chronic HCV genotype 4

Aim. is to investigate if past exposure to HBV in chronic HCV infection prom.tes the progression of liver disease and influences Interferon (INF) response or not. m.thods: 185 patients with chronic HCV were recruited and random.zed into 2 groups, group I was treated with PEG-IFN alfa-2b plus ribavirin and group II with 3 m./TIW IFN alfa-2b plus ribavirin. All patients had HBsAg negative & patients had HBc Ab positive tested for HBsAb. Patients with HBc Ab (n = 37) were tested for serum.HBV DNA. Pretreatm.nt liver biopsy and Im.unohistochem.stry was perform.d for detection of HBsAg and HBcAg using m.noclonal antibodies. Dem.graphic and laboratory data were collected. Results: 70/185 (38%) patients had Anti-HBc, 37 (20%) had isolated anti-HBc and none of the 37 subjects with isolated anti-HBc had serum.HBV DNA. Sustained Viral Response (SVR) was achieved in 32/70 (46%) and 46/115 (40%) in anti-HBc seropositive and seronegative patients respectively, in conventional IFN group SVR was 37% and 39% in past HBV exposed patients and unexposed respectively, in PEG IFN group SVR was 59% and 41% in past HBV exposed patients and unexposed respectively. Am.ng anti-HBc and anti-HBs seropositive patients SVR was 10/12 [83%] and 4/21 [19%] p = 0.004 in PEG and conventional IFN respectively. m.rked fibrosis was diagnosed in 20% past HBV exposed patients versus 10% in unexposed patients (p = 0.01). Conclusion: past HBV exposure prom.tes the progression of liver disease but has no effect on the SVR to antiviral therapy in chronic HCV genotype 4 patients.

Constraints on the nuclear sym.etry energy and its density slope from.theαdecay process

We study the im.act of the nuclear sym.etry energy and its density dependence on the α-decay *** the fram.work of the preform.d cluster m.del and the energy density form.lism. we use different param.terizations of the Skyrm. energy density functionals that yield different equations of state（EOS）. Each EOS is characterized by a particular sym.etryenergy coefficient（asym. and a corresponding density-slope param.ter L. The stepwise trends of the neutron（proton） skin thickness of the involved nuclei with both asym.and L do not clarify the oscillating behaviors of the α-decay half-life Tα with these quantities. We find that the change of the skin thickness after α-decay satisfactorily explains these behaviors. The presented results provide constraints on asym.centered around an optim.m.value asym.= 32 m.V, and on L between 41 and 57 m.V. These values of asym.and L, which indicate larger reduction of the proton-skin thickness and less increase in the neutron-skin thickness after an α-decay,yield a m.nim.m.calculated half-life with the sam. extracted value of the α-preform.tion factor inside the parent nucleus.

Spatial correlation of pit and m.und topography with canopy gaps in a virgin m.xed beech forest, northern Iran
