Natural convection of nanofluid over vertical plate em.edded in porous m.dium. prescribed surface heat flux

The aim.of the present paper is to analyze the natural convection heat and m.ss transfer of nanofluids over a vertical plate em.edded in a saturated Darcy porous m.dium.subjected to surface heat and nanoparticle fluxes. To carry out the num.rical solution, two steps are perform.d. The governing partial differential equations are firstly sim.lified into a set of highly coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by appropriate sim.larity variables, and then num.rically solved by the finite difference m.thod. The obtained sim.larity solution depends on four non-dim.nsional param.ters, i.e., the Brownian m.tion param.ter （Nb）, the buoyancy ratio （Nr）, the therm.phoresis param.ter （Nt）, and the Lewis num.er （Le）. The variations of the reduced Nusselt num.er and the reduced Sherwood num.er with Nb and Nt for various values of Le and Nr are discussed in detail. Sim.lation results depict that the increase in Nb, Nt, or Nr decreases the reduced Nusselt num.er. An increase in the Lewis num.er increases both of the reduced Nusselt num.er and the Sherwood num.er. The results also reveal that the nanoparticle concentration boundary layer thickness is m.ch thinner than those of the therm.l and hydrodynam.c boundary layers.

An integral treatm.nt is proposed for the analysis of the forced convection flow of a nanofluid over a stretching sheet. The obtained results agree well with the num.rical results. The results of the presented solution provide an analytic solution, which can be conveniently used in engineering applications. Four types of nanoparticles, i.e., alum.na （Al2O3）, silicon dioxide （Si02）, silver （Ag）, and copper （Cu）, dispersed in the base fluid of water are exam.ned. The analytical results show that an increase in the volum. fraction of nanoparticles increases the thickness of the therm.l boundary layer.
