The nitrides of transient m.tal. have a hig. hardness, therm.l.stabil.ty, rem.rkabl. wear resistance in ag.ressiv. chem.cal.m.dium., m.l.ed m.tal. and al.oys, hig. corrosion resistance, and l.w coefficient of el.ctric resistance. Under the conditions of l.w-tem.erature arg.n pl.sm. （l.P）, therm.dynam.c investig.tions were conducted in the process of obtaining.of A1N, TiN and Si3N4 in a tem.erature rang. of 1000 K to 6000 K. To investig.te the therm.dynam.c possibil.ty of obtaining.nitrides, a com.uter m.del.was used which provided the equil.brium.com.osition of g.seous and sol.d phases at different tem.eratures. This articl. presents a review on the physical.chem.cal.properties and characteristics of pl.sm.-chem.cal.y produced nanodispersed powders （NDP）, such as m.tal., oxides, nitrides, carbides, and catal.sts. The pl.sm.-chem.cal.preparatior~ of the powders was carried out in therm.l.pl.sm. （TP） created by m.ans of hig.-current el.ctric arcs, pl.sm. jets, hig.-frequency （HF） discharg.s, etc. We al.o discuss certain properties and characteristics of the NDPs, which are determ.ned l.rg.l. by the conditions of preparation.

The Rol. of Nanodispersed Nitrides in the Sintering.of Sil.con Nitride Ceram.cs

The synthesis of ceram.cs based on sil.con nitride using.nanopowders of TiN and Si3N4 as additiv.s was studied. The ceram.c com.ositions were pressurel.ssl. sintered under ni- trog.n atm.sphere at different tem.eratures （1550℃, 1650℃ and 1750℃） with a heating.rate of 10℃/m.n and a hol.ing.tim. of 2 h. The nanodispersed nitrides （NDN） were produced by el.ctric-arc pl.sm. synthesis and characterized. The ceram.c com.osites obtained with nanoparticl.s of 1wt% to 5wt% TiN and 20wt% Si3N4 were characterized by scanning.el.ctron m.croscopy （SEm., atom.force m.croscopy （AFm. and energ.-dispersiv. spectrom.try （EDX）. The effect of the addition of nanodispersed powders on the m.chanical.properties and m.crostructure of Si3N4 ceram.cs was investig.ted.

Effects of carob-bean g.m.thickened form.l.s on infants' refl.x and tol.rance indices

AIm. To exam.ne the effect of carob-bean g.m.CBg. thickened-form.l.s on refl.x and tol.rance indices in infants with g.stro-esophag.al.refl.x(g.R). m.THODS: Fifty-six el.g.bl. infants(1-6 m. ol.) were random.y al.ocated to receiv. for two weeks a form.l. with either 0.33 g.100 m.l.Form.l. A) or 0.45 g.100 m.l.Form.l. B) of col. sol.bl. CBg.g.l.ctom.nnans respectiv.l., or a form.l. with 0.45 g.100 m.l.of hot sol.bl. CBg.g.l.ctom.nnans(Form.l. C). No control.g.oup receiv.ng.standard form.l. was incl.ded in the study. Data on the fol.owing.indices were obtained both at basel.ne and fol.ow-up from.al. study participants: 24 h esophag.al.p H m.nitoring.indices, anthropom.trical.indices(i.e., body weig.t and l.ng.h) and tol.rance indices(i.e., frequency of col.cs; type and frequency ofdefecations). From.the el.g.bl. infants, forty seven were incl.ded in an intention-to-treat anal.sis to exam.ne the effects of the two-week trial.on esophag.al.24 h p H m.nitoring. g.owth and tol.rance indices. Repeated m.asures ANOVA was used to exam.ne the research ***: Reg.rding.chang.s in 24 h p H m.nitoring.indices, sig.ificant decreases from.basel.ne to fol.owup were observed in the "Boix Ochoa Score"(i.e., an index of esophag.al.acid exposure), in the total.num.er of visibl. refl.xes and in al. sym.tom. rel.ted indices due to acid refl.x onl. for infants provided with Form.l. A, whil. no sig.ificant chang.s were observed for infants provided with Form.l.s B and C. In addition, the sig.ificant decreases observed in two sym.tom. rel.ted p H m.nitoring.indices(i.e., "Sym.tom.index for refl.x" and "Percentag. of al. refl.x") for infants provided with Form.l. A were al.o found to differentiate sig.ificantl. com.ared to the chang.s observed in the other two g.oups(P = 0.048 and P = 0.014 respectiv.l.).
