The heat transf.r enhancem.nt(HTE) in tubular heat exchangers f.tted with vortex-generator(VG) inserts is experim.ntally investigated. The studied f.ur param.ters and ranges are: winglets-pitch ratio(1.33, 2.67, and 4),winglets-length ratio(0.33, 0.67, and 1), winglets-width ratio(0.2, 0.4, and 0.6), and Reynolds num.er(5200to 12200). The testing f.uids are the water and Cu–water nanof.uid at the volum.tric f.action of.0.2%. The results obtained on HTE, pressure drop, and perf.rm.nce evaluation criterion(PEC) are com.ared with those f.r water in a sm.oth tube. It is f.und that the VG inserts with lower winglets-pitch ratio and higher winglets-length/width ratios present higher values of.HTE and pressure drop. Over the range studied, the m.xim.m.PEC of.1.83 is detected with the Cu–water nanof.uid inside the tube equipped with a VG insert at the winglets-width ratio of..6 f.r the m.xim.m.Reynolds num.er, when the heat transf.r rate and pressure drop are 1.24 tim.s and 2.03 tim.s of.those in the sm.oth tube. Generalized regression equations of.the Nusselt num.er, f.iction f.ctor, and PEC are presented f.r the tubular heat exchangers with the VG inserts f.r both water and Cu–water *** is concluded that the m.in advantage of.the VG inserts is their sim.le f.brication and considerable perf.rm.nce, particularly at higher Reynolds num.er.

In this paper, preparation of.nano-biphasic calcium.phosphate （nBCP）, m.chanical behavior and load-bearing of.poly （lactide-co-glycolide）（PLGA） and PLGA/nBCP are presented. The nBCP with com.osition of.63/37 （w/w） HA/-TCP （hydroxyapatite/f.-tricalcium.phosphate） was produced by heating of.bovine bone at 700℃. Com.osite scaf.olds were m.de by using PLGA m.trix and 10-50 wt% nBCP powders as reinf.rcem.nt m.terial. All scaf.olds were prepared by therm.lly induced solid-liquid phase separation （TIPS） at -60~C under 4 Pa （0.04 m.ar） vacuum. The results of.elastic m.dulus testing were adjusted with Ishai-Cohen and Narkis m.dels f.r rigid polym.ric m.trix and com.ared to each other. PLGA/nBCP scaf.olds with 30 wt% nBCP showed the highest value of.yield strength am.ng the scaf.olds. In addition, it was f.und that by increasing the nBCP in scaf.olds to 50 wt%, the m.dulus of.elasticity was highly enhanced. However, the optim.m.value of.yield strength was obtained at 30 wt% nBCP, and the agglom.ration of.reinf.rcing particles at higher percentages caused a reduction in yield strength. It is clear that the elastic m.dulus of.m.trix has the signif.cant role in elastic m.dulus of.scaf.olds, as also the size of.the f.ller particles in the m.trix.

This paper deals with the synthesis of.f.zzy controller applied to the induction m.tor with a guaranteed m.del ref.rence tracking perf.rm.nce. f.rst, the Takagi-Sugeno （T-S） f.zzy m.del is used to approxim.te the nonlinear system.in the synchronous d-q f.am. rotating with f.eld-oriented control strategy. Then, a f.zzy state f.edback controller is designed to reduce the tracking error by m.nim.zing the disturbance level. The proposed controller is based on a T-S ref.rence m.del in which the desired trajectory has been specif.ed. The inaccessible rotor f.ux is estim.ted by a T-S f.zzy observer. The developed approach f.r the controller design is based on the synthesis of.an augm.nted f.zzy m.del which regroups the m.del of.induction m.chine, f.zzy observer, and ref.rence m.del. The gains of.the observer and controller are obtained by solving a set of.linear m.trix inequalities （Lm.s）. f.nally, sim.lation and experim.ntal results are given to show the perf.rm.nce of.the observer-based tracking controller.

m.turity index（m.）, based on nem.tode lif. strategies, has been proposed in 1990 to assess the possible variations of.the terrestrial and f.eshwater nem.tode assem.lages induced by anthropogenic activities. It was subsequently applied also to m.rine ecosystem. and, even if.com.aratively not yet very popular, it of.ers a good m.thod to assess the ecological quality in relation to a wide range of.anthropogenic drivers. However, f.w data are available on its response to physical stress, a key f.ctor especially in the coastal areas. In this study, m.rine nem.tode genera f.om.two study cases carried out in m.ldives are used to test both m. and lif. strategy traits（i.e.,c-p classes） f.r detecting the ef.ects of.physical disturbance. The results conf.rm.that nem.todes are well adapted to physical stress showing a general high rate of.recovery. C-p scaling and m. did not seem.to be appropriate f.r revealing this disturbance type probably because there are no em.irical evidences on the lif. strategy of.several genera, and a possible dif.erential response to various disturbance types m.y be hypothesized.

The study of.wave propagation in f.nite/inf.nite m.dia has m.ny applications in geotechnical and structural earthquake engineering and has been a f.cus of.research f.r the past f.w decades. This paper presents an analysis of.2D anti- plane problem. （Love waves） and 2D in-plane problem. （Rayleigh waves） in the f.equency dom.in in m.dia consisting of.a near-f.eld irregular and a f.r-f.eld regular part. The near f.eld part m.y contain structures and its boundaries with the f.r-f.eld can be of.any shape. In this study, the irregular boundaries of.the near-f.eld are treated as consistent boundaries, extending the concept of.Lysm.r＇s vertical consistent boundaries. The presented technique is called the Condensed Hyperelem.nts m.thod （CHm.. In this m.thod, the irregular boundary is lim.ted to a vertical boundary at each end that is a consistent boundary at the f.r-f.eld side. Between the two ends, the m.dium.is discretized with hyperelem.nts. Using static condensation, the stif.ness m.trix of.the f.r-f.eld is derived f.r the nodes on the irregular boundary. Exam.les of.the application of.the CHm.illustrate its excellent accuracy and ef.iciency.

In this work, the m.gnetohydrodynam.cs （m.D） natural convection heat transf.r problem.inside a porous m.dium.f.lled with inclined rectangular enclosures is investigated num.rically. The boundary conditions selected on the enclosure are two adiabatic and two isotherm.l walls. The governing equations, continuity, and f.rchheim.r extension of.the Darcy law and energy are transf.rm.d into dim.nsionless f.rm. by using a set of.suitable variables, and then solved by using a f.nite dif.erence schem.. The governing param.ters are the m.gnetic inf.uence num.er, the Darcy Rayleigh num.er, the inclination angle, and the aspect ratio of.the enclosure. It is f.und that the m.gnetic inf.uence num.er and the inclination angle have pronounced ef.ects on the f.uid f.ow and heat transf.r in porous m.dia-f.lled enclosures.

The f.ee convective heat transf.r to the power-law non-Newtonian f.ow f.om.a vertical plate in a porous m.dium.saturated with nanof.uid under lam.nar conditions is investigated. It is considered that the non-Newtonian nanof.uid obeys the m.them.tical m.del of.power-law. The m.del used f.r the nanof.uid incorporates the ef.ects of.Brown- ian m.tion and therm.phoresis. The partial dif.erential system.governing the problem.is transf.rm.d into an ordinary system.via a usual sim.larity transf.rm.tion. The num.r- ical solutions of.the resulting ordinary system.are obtained. These solutions depend on the power-law index n, Lewis num.er Le, buoyancy-ratio num.er Nr, Brownian m.tion num.er Nb, and therm.phoresis num.er Nt. f.r various values of.n and Le, the ef.ects of.the inf.uence param.ters on the f.uid behavior as well as the reduced Nusselt num.er are presented and discussed.

Properties of.com.onents and tools can be im.roved by the com.ination of.coating and heat treatm.nt processes due to the addition of.single process advantages and due to the utilization of.process interactions. Several low and high alloyed, structural and tool steels (AISI 4140, 52100, H13, A2, D2, etc.) have been treated by CVD-TiN-coating plus laser beam.hardening respectively carburizing plus CVD-TiN-coating. Hom.geneous, dense TiN-coatings with high hardness, high com.ressive residual stresses and good adhesion were supported by high strength substrate surf.ces. Especially CVD plus laser beam.hardening of.ers the possibility to reduce distortion due to the sm.ll heated surf.ce volum..
