Experim.ntal study of.natural convection heat transf.r across air layers bounded by a lower hot rectangular and a square corrugated plates to an upper cold f.at plate has been carried out. The surroundings of.this space are adiabatic. The ef.ect of.the angle of.inclination, the aspect ratio, the tem.erature potential and the Rayleigh num.er on average heat transf.r coef.icients are investigated within a range of.0°≤75°,, 2.33≤A≤6.33, 10°≤T ≤35°, and 3.29xl04≤RaL≤ 2.29x106. The developed correlation predicts well the experim.ntal data within an error of.±15%.

Conventional spouted beds have been extensively used in m.ny real-lif. applications but are not suited f.r all types of.m.terials, especially f.ne particles, which require internal devices to im.rove their m.tion in the spouted bed. However, unlike conventional spouted beds, there are alm.st no m.chanistic or em.irical m.dels available f.r the design of.spouted beds with internals. Given the availability of.an extensive but not experim.ntally designed database, the m.in purpose of.this study is to present an analysis of.neural networks and em.irical m.dels in term. of.their suitability to f.t and predict average cycle tim.s in conical spouted beds with and without draf. tubes. The param.ters investigated are particle size, density, contactor angle, gas inlet diam.ter, static bed height, and draf. tube f.atures. Although the am.unt of.inf.rm.tion is always a key f.ctor when f.tting m.dels, the size of.the database used in this study strongly af.ects the f.tting perf.rm.nce of.em.irical m.dels, whereas artif.cial neural networks are m.re inf.uenced by how the data are scaled. Results of.m.del verif.cation show that both techniques are suitable f.r predicting average cycle tim.s f.r data outside the range covered by the database.

To obtain greater insight into the m.lecular events underlying plant disease susceptibility, we studied transcriptom. changes induced by a host-selective toxin of.Pyrenophora tritici-repentis, Ptr ToxA （ToxA）, on its host plant, wheat. Transcriptional prof.ling of.ToxA-treated leaves of.a ToxA-sensitive wheat cultivar was perf.rm.d using the GeneChip Wheat Genom. Array. An im.roved and up-to-date annotation of.the wheat m.croarray was generated and a new tool f.r array data analysis （BRAT） was developed, and both are available f.r public use via a web-based interf.ce. Our data indicate that m.ssive transcriptional reprogram.ing occurs due to ToxA treatm.nt, including cellular responses typically associated with def.nse. In addition, this study supports previous results indicating that ToxA-induced cell death is triggered by im.airm.nt of.the photosynthetic m.chinery and accum.lation of.reactive oxygen species. Based on results of.this study, we propose that ToxA acts as both an elicitor and a virulence f.ctor.

The prolif.ration of.m.bile devices in society accessing data via the ＂cloud＂ is im.osing a dram.tic increase in the am.unt of.inf.rm.tion to be stored on hard disk drives （HDD） used in servers. f.recasts are that areal densities will need to increase by as m.ch as 35% com.ound per annum.and by 2,020 cloud storage capacity will be around 7 zettabytes corresponding to areal densities of.2 Tb/in^2. This requires increased perf.rm.nce f.om.the m.gnetic pole of.the electrom.g- netic writer in the read/write head in the HDD. Current state-of.art writing is undertaken by m.rphologically com.lex m.gnetic pole of.sub 100 nm.dim.nsions, in an environm.nt of.engineered m.gnetic shields and it needs to deliver strong directional m.gnetic f.eld to areas on the recording m.dia around 50 nm.× 13 nm. This points to the need f.r a m.thod to perf.rm.direct quantitative m.asurem.nts of.the m.gnetic f.eld generated by the write pole at the nanom.ter scale. Here we report on the com.lete in situ quantitative m.pping of.the m.gnetic f.eld generated by a f.nctioning write pole in operation using electron holography. The results point the way towards a new nanoscale m.gnetic f.eld source to f.rther develop in situ transm.ssion electron m.croscopy.

This study was conducted to evaluate the ef.f.ct of.replacing soybean m.al(SBm. by low protein ?oc m.al(LPf.0} 24% CP) in tilapia diets on growth perf.rm.nce, f.ed utilization and ?sh chem.cal com.osition. Three isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets were f.rm.lated; control diet(C; without LPf.0},f.0}25(25% of.SBm.protein was substituted by LPf.0} and f.0}50(50% of.SBm.protein was substituted by LPf.0}. Nine 55 l circular plastic tanks were stocked by 12 ?sh to f.rm.three experim.ntal *** dif.f.rences in tilapia perf.rm.nce were observed between the control and the f.0}25 diet. Chem.cal com.osition of.?sh did not dif.f.r signi?cantly am.ng treatm.nts except f.r protein and selenium.contents where the highest values were recorded in the control treatm.nt. The highest m.neral content was recorded in ?oc collected f.om.the control tanks, while calcium.content showed its highest value in ?oc collected f.om.f.0}50 e ? uent. These data indicate that replacing soybean m.al with LPf.0}up to 25%, had no negative ef.f.ct on growth perf.rm.nce and potentially m.y im.rove the system.sustainability. m.anwhile, the adverse ef.f.ct of.m.re inclusion of.LPf.0}in tilapia diet m.y be attributed to the higher content of.ash. In other word,m.nerals seem.to cause m.re energy utilization in ?sh f.d ?oc m.al since it is needed to m.intain osm.tic hom.ostasis.

Background: Two trials were perf.rm.d to evaluate a partially def.tted Herm.tia illucens(HI) larvae m.al as potential f.ed ingredient in rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus m.kiss Walbaum. diets. In the f.rst trial, 360 trout(178.9 ± 9.8 g of.m.an initial body weight) were random.y divided into three experim.ntal groups(4 tanks/treatm.nt, 30 f.sh/tank). The f.sh were f.d f.r 78 days with isonitrogenous, isolipidic and isoenergetic diets containing increasing levels of.HI, on as f.d basis: 0%(HI0, control diet), 25%(HI25) and 50%(HI50) of.f.sh m.al substitution, corresponding to dietary inclusion levels of.0, 20% and 40%. In the second trial, 36 trout(4 tanks/treatm.nt, 3 f.sh/tank) were used to evaluate the in vivo apparent digestibility coef.icients(ADC) of.the sam. diets used in the f.rst ***: Survival, growth perf.rm.nce, condition f.ctor, som.tic indexes, and dorsal f.llet physical quality param.ters were not af.ected by diet. The highest dietary inclusion of.HI larvae m.al increased dry m.tter and ether extract contents of.trout dorsal f.llet. The use of.HI larvae m.al induced a decrease of.valuable polyunsaturated f.tty acids(PUf.) even if.dif.erences were only reported at the highest level of.HI inclusion. The insect m.al worsened the lipids health indexes of.the sam. m.scle. Dietary inclusion of.insect m.al did not alter the villus height of.the f.sh. No dif.erences were f.und am.ng treatm.nts in relation to ADC of.ether extract and gross energy, while ADC of.dry m.tter and crude protein were higher in HI25 if.com.ared to ***: The obtained results showed that a partially def.tted HI larvae m.al can be used as f.ed ingredient in trout diets up to 40% of.inclusion level without im.acting survival, growth perf.rm.nce, condition f.ctor, som.tic indexes, dorsal f.llet physical quality param.ters, and intestinal m.rphology of.the f.sh.
