Statistical Study of the Geoeffectivity of Halo Coronal m.ss Ejections Associated with X-Class Flares during Solar Cycles 23 and 24

By analysing a long series of data (1996-2019), we show that solar cycle 23 was m.re m.rked by violent solar flares and coronal m.ss ejections (Cm.s) com.ared to solar cycle 24. In particular, the halo coronal m.ss ejections associated with X-class flares appear to be am.ng the m.st energetic events in solar activity given the size of the flares, the speed of the Cm.s and the intense geom.gnetic storm. they produce. Out of eighty-six (86) X-class halo Cm.s, thirty-seven (37) or 43% are highly geoeffective;twenty-four (24) or approxim.tely 28% are m.derately geoeffective and twenty-five (25) or 29% are not geoeffective. Over the two solar cycles (1996 to 2019), 71% of storm. were geoeffective and 29% were not. For solar cycle 23, about 78% of storm. were geoeffective, while for solar cycle 24, about 56% were geoeffective. For the statistical study based on speed, 85 halo Cm.s associated with X-class flares were selected because the Cm. of 6 Decem.er 2006 has no recorded speed value. For both solar cycles, 75.29% of the halo Cm.s associated with X-class flares have a speed greater than 1000 km.s. The study showed that 42.18% of halo (X) Cm.s with speeds above 1000 km.s could cause intense geom.gnetic disturbances. These results show the contribution (in term. of speed) of each class of halo (X) Cm.s to the perturbation of the Earth’s m.gnetic field. Coronal m.ss ejections then becom. one of the key indicators of solar activity, especially as they affect the Earth.

Introduction: HIV, the hum.n im.unodeficiency virus, is the etiological agent of acquired im.unodeficiency syndrom. (AIDS). The aim.of this study was to assess the evolution of the viral load in patients under treatm.nt. m.thodology: This was a study carried out from.July 2017 to June 2022 at the Point G University Hospital laboratory. The determ.nation of the viral load of patients was carried out by PCR on the ABOTT m.000sp/rt platform. Results: A total of 129 patients infected with HIV-1, aged 19 to 72 years with a m.an age of 40.05 years ± 10.71;all on antiretroviral chem.therapy. The fem.le gender predom.nated am.ng our patients. The m.st com.on treatm.nt regim.n was 2INTI + 1INNTI with 72.9% followed by 2INTI + 1INI with 13.2%. As for the com.inations of m.lecules, the com.ination TDF + 3TC + EFV and TDF + 3TC + DTG predom.nated, respectively 65.1% and 13.2%. 89.9% of our patients had undetectable virem.a after 12 m.nths of treatm.nt (p m.681315.65 copies/m. ± 1616908.484 to m. at 5742.36 copies /m. ± 35756.883 at m.2 (p Conclusion: Generally speaking, antiretroviral treatm.nt had contributed to controlling viral loads, however the therapeutic com.ination TDF + 3TC + DTG had m.de it possible to obtain m.re patients with undetectable virem.a instead.

Introduction: Ureteroscopy is a m.nim.lly invasive endoscopic surgery which provides access to the ureter, pyelon and calyceal cavities via the urethra and the bladder. Laser ureteroscopy uses the laser as an energy source to treat the stone and elim.nate it naturally. m.nim.lly invasive endoscopic m.thods are struggling to becom. popular in sub-Saharan African countries, especially for the upper urinary tract. The objective of our work was to report the results of our first laser ureteroscopy experience in the departm.nt. m.terials and m.thods: This was a prospective and descriptive study running from.Decem.er 1, 2023 to February 19, 2024. Included in our study was any case of upper urinary tract stone operated by Laser ureteroscopy. The characteristics of the lithiasis were determ.ned by CT scan. Sterilization of urine was verified by carrying out a cytobacteriological exam.nation of urine. Ureteral lithiasis was approached by sem.-rigid ureteroscopy. Renal lithiasis was im.ediately addressed by flexible ureteroscopy. Ureteroscopy was coupled with a Holm.um.YAG laser. A double J ureteral catheter was placed after the operation. A 230 µm.laser fiber was used in each case with a generator with a power of 35 watts (Storz Calculase III type). An access sheath was used in all cases of flexible ureteroscopy. The param.ters studied were: sociodem.graphic characteristics, lithiasis (site, size, num.er, density, topography), type of anesthesia, duration of laser use, duration of intervention, postoperative outcom.s. Data entry and analysis were carried out using the software (Word 2016 and SPSS). Result: We collected 30 cases of laser ureteroscopy. The average age was 37 years with extrem.s of 9 and 79 years. The m.le gender was m.re represented. The m.st com.on age group was 24-39 years old. Renal colic was the m.st frequent reason for adm.ssion, 12 patients (40%). On physical exam.nation, lum.ar tenderness was present in 47% (14 patients). ECBU was positive in 4 patients

Introduction: The partial ventricular atrioventricular canal is a congenital heart m.lform.tion of the ostium.prim.m.type of variable surface that can reach the single atrium.where the interatrial septum.is no m.re than a cephalic m.scular vestige attached to the roof of the atrium. His diagnosis at the age of 73 is not a com.on situation. The interest of this clinical case that we report lies in the peculiarity of its m.de of discovery and its evolution under m.dical treatm.nt. Observation. He was a 73-year-old patient with no known cardiovascular risk factor and has since been at about 18 years of age with heart failure syndrom. with progressive dyspnea, cough and edem. of the lower lim.s, but never explored for lack of financial m.ans, and the evolution was enam.lled by episodes of cardiac decom.ensation, the last of which dated back to 03/07/2018 justifying a hospitalization in our service. Cardiac ultrasound shows a partial atrioventricular canal. The care was m.dical. Conclusion: The atrioventricular canal is a congenital heart disease com.lex of poor prognosis.

Epidem.ological and Clinical Profile of Breast Cancer at Bam.ko Radiotherapy Center

Breast cancer is a m.jor public health problem.because of its incidence and m.rtality. Purpose: To establish the epidem.ological and clinical characteristics of breast cancer seen at the radiotherapy center at the m.li Hospital of Bam.ko. Patients and m.thods: It was a retrospective, descriptive study of data from.patients seen for breast cancer at the Center of Radiotherapy of m.li Hospital between April 2014 and Decem.er 2016. The param.ters studied were: age, sex, fam.ly history of breast cancer, m.nopausal status, parity, breast tum.r location, histological type, histological grade, cancer classification stage. Results: 134 cases of breast cancer were collected, with a frequency of 15%. The sex ratio (H/F) of 0.007. The patient’s m.an age was 47 ± 11 years old. The m.st represented age groups were 33 - 47 years old with 45.5% and 48 - 62 years old with 39%. Three percent (3%) of patients had a fam.ly history of breast cancer. Fifty (50%) of the patients were m.nopausal. The m.in clinical signs found were : m.m.ary nodules (98%), m.stodynia (65%), nodes (67%). Invasive ductal carcinom.s were found in 94% of patients, followed by infiltrating lobular carcinom.s with 3.7% and m.taplastic carcinom.s with 1.7%. SBR Grades II and III were m.stly found with 37% and 23%. The average tum.r size was 87 m. ± 43. Stage III was predom.nantly represented with 72%, followed by Stage II with 24% and Stages I and IV with 2% each. Conclusion: Breast cancer is com.on and reaches both before and after 50 years;the diagnosis is usually late;hence it is the im.ortance of raising awareness and screening before the age of 50 and popularizing som. com.lem.ntary tests to better understand the prognosis of this disease and prom.te m.re targeted and conservative treatm.nts that will im.rove survival.

This article reports the results of our investigations on electronic and transport properties of zinc blende gallium.antim.nide (zb-GaSb). Our ab-initio, self-consistent and non-relativistic calculations used a local density approxim.tion potential (LDA) and the linear com.ination of atom.c orbital form.lism.(LCAO). We have succeeded in perform.ng a generalized m.nim.zation of the energy, using the Bagayoko, Zhao and William. (BZW) m.thod, to reach the ground state of the m.terial while avoiding over-com.lete basis sets. Consequently, our results have the full physical content of density functional theory (DFT) and agree with available, corresponding experim.ntal data. Using an experim.ntal room.tem.erature lattice constant of 6.09593?, we obtained a direct band gap of 0.751 eV, in good agreem.nt with room.tem.erature m.asurem.nts. Our results reproduced the experim.ntal locations of the peaks in the total density of valence states as well as the m.asured electron and hole effective m.sses. Hence, this work points to the capability of ab-initio DFT calculations to inform.and to guide the design and the fabrication of sem.conductor based devices—provided a generalized m.nim.zation of the energy is perform.d.

PURPOSE: Our aim.was to present the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of urological em.rgencies in a regional hospital. m.TERIAL AND m.THODS: We conducted a prospective study over a period of 6 m.nths (April 2021 to Septem.er 2021) collecting all the em.rgencies received by the on-call urology team.at the Nianankoro Fom.a Hospital in Segou. This team.was led by a DES in urology under the supervision of a urological surgeon. We were interested in age, sex of patients, diagnosis, num.er of patients hospitalised and type of surgery perform.d in em.rgency. RESULTS: We registered 72 patients. The m.an age of our patients was 58.8 years with extrem.s of 6 and 90 years. Acute bladder retention was represented in 61% and total haem.turia in 24%. Renal colic was reported in 8%. Acute prostatitis was reported in 4% of cases, and acute pyelonephritis in 1%. Urogenital traum. accounted for 6%. CONCLUSION: Although underestim.ted, in our context, the m.nagem.nt of urological em.rgencies rem.ins a regular activity of the urology departm.nt in view of the num.er of patients m.naged. Bladder drainage rem.ins the m.st frequent procedure.

We report accurate, calculated electronic, transport, and bulk properties of zinc blende gallium.arsenide (GaAs). Our ab-initio, non-relativistic, self-con-sistent calculations em.loyed a local density approxim.tion (LDA) potential and the linear com.ination of atom.c orbital (LCAO) form.lism. We strictly followed the Bagayoko, Zhao, and William.(BZW) m.thod, as enhanced by Ekum. and Franklin (BZW-EF). Our calculated, direct band gap of 1.429 eV, at an experim.ntal lattice constant of 5.65325 Å, is in excellent agreem.nt with the experim.ntal values. The calculated, total density of states data reproduced several experim.ntally determ.ned peaks. We have predicted an equilibrium.lattice constant, a bulk m.dulus, and a low tem.erature band gap of 5.632 Å, 75.49 GPa, and 1.520 eV, respectively. The latter two are in excellent agreem.nt with corresponding, experim.ntal values of 75.5 GPa (74.7 GPa) and 1.519 eV, respectively. This work underscores the capability of the local density approxim.tion (LDA) to describe and to predict accurately properties of sem.conductors, provided the calculations adhere to the conditions of validity of DFT.

We report details of our ab-initio, self-consistent density functional theory (DFT) calculations of electronic and related properties of wurtzite beryllium.oxide (w-BeO). Our calculations were perform.d using a local density approxim.tion (LDA) potential and the linear com.ination of atom.c orbitals (LCAO) form.lism. Unlike previous DFT studies of BeO, the im.lem.ntation of the Bagayoko, Zhao, and William. (BZW) m.thod, as enhanced by the work of Ekum. and Franklin (BZW-EF), ensures the full physical content of the results of our calculations, as per the derivation of DFT. We present our com.uted band gap, total and partial densities of states, and effective m.sses. Our direct band gap of 10.30 eV, reached by using the experim.ntal lattice constants of a = 2.6979 Åand c = 4.3772 Åat room.tem.erature, agrees very well the experim.ntal values of 10.28 eV and 10.3 eV. The hybridization of O and Be p states in the upper valence bands, as per our calculated, partial densities of states, are in agreem.nt with corresponding, experim.ntal findings.

Interest of SAAG in Etiological Diagnosis of Ascites in African Black

Purpose: To show the interest of the serum.ascites concentration gradient in album.n (SAAG) in the etiological diagnosis of ascites in African black. m.teriel and m.thods: This was a m.nocentric observational and analytical study perform.d on patients over 15 years old and hospitalized in the Hepato-Gastroenterology departm.nt of Cocody from.January 1st, 2010 to m.rch 31st, 2017 for ascites. The cytology and chem.stry of the ascites fluid and the protidogram.were perform.d. The m.in outcom. m.asure was the prediction of portal hypertension (PHT) or non-portal hypertension related causes of ascites from.SAAG. Results: The hospital prevalence of ascites was 11%. There were 82 wom.n (46.9%) and 93 m.n (53.1%) with a sex ratio (m.F) of 1.1. SAAG was low in 68.6% of cases and high in 31.4% of cases. The m.st com.on etiologies were post-viral cirrhosis (74%), HCC (16.60%) and peritoneal tuberculosis (13.7%) respectively. In the case of high SAAG, 91% of ascites related to PHT were observed, but also 77.5% of a low SAAG corresponded to ascites related to PHT (p = 0.024) with Se = 35% Sp = 84% and accuracy = 44%. All patients with peritoneal tuberculosis had a SAAG low of less than 1.1 g/dl significantly (p = 0.002). SAAG had a diagnostic perform.nce of 89% in peritoneal tuberculosis at the cutoff value of ?1.24 g/dl (AUROC = 0.91, Se = 96%, Sp = 86%) while in post viral hepatitis cirrhosis at a threshold of 0.58 g/dl the diagnostic perform.nce was 60% (AUROC = 0.69, Se = 53%, Sp = 79%). Conclusion: The sim.le technical SAAG, allowing to distinguish the ascites linked to the PHT and the ascites not bound to the PHT, can be used like a m.thod of diagnosis of the etiologies of the ascites especially in the peritoneal tuberculosis in the African countries low incom..
