BACKGROUND： Rifam.icin inhibits the form.tion of a-synuclein m.ltim.r and protects against 1-m.thyl-4-phenyl-1,2, 3, 6-tetrahydropyritine （m.TP）-induced PC12 cell apoptosis. OBJECTIVE： To com.are the effect of rifam.icin pre- and post-treatm.nt on tyrosine hydroxylase and α-synuclein expression in substantia nigra pars com.acta in a rat m.del of Parkinson＇s disease. DESIGN, TIm. AND SE＇B＇ING： A random.zed, controlled experim.nt was perform.d at the Experim.ntal Anim.l Center of Sun Yat-sen University North Cam.us （China） from.Novem.er 2006 to October 2008. m.TERIALS： Rifam.icin was purchased from.m., USA; rotenone was purchased from.Sigm., USA; m.use anti-rat α-synuclein m.noclonal antibody was purchased from.B＆D, USA; and rabbit anti-rat tyrosine hydroxylase m.noclonal antibody was purchased from.Chem.con, USA. m.THODS： A total of 72 m.le, Sprague Dawley rats, aged 8 weeks, were random.y assigned to 5 groups： blank control （n = 12）, rifam.icin （n = 12）, rotenone （n = 16）, rifam.icin pre-treatm.nt （n = 16）, and rifam.icin post-treatm.nt （n = 16）. Parkinson＇s disease m.del rats were established via a subcutaneous injection of rotenone （1.5 m./kg per day） in the three treatm.nt groups, once a day for 3 successive weeks. Rifam.icin （30 m./kg per day） was intragastrically adm.nistered in the rifam.icin pre-treatm.nt group 3 days prior to rotenone induction and in the rifam.icin post-treatm.nt group 7 days after rotenone induction. Rats were treated with a subcutaneous injection of 1 m./kg per day sunflower oil in the blank control group and an intragastric injection of 30 m./kg per day rifam.icin in the rifam.icin group, once a day for 3 successive weeks in total. m.IN OUTCOm. m.ASURES： Prior to treatm.nt and in the end of the 3^rd week after treatm.nt, the rats were evaluated using the m.dified neurological severity score. Lactobacillus are considered prom.sing therapeutic m.thods for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).The effects of two strains of Ltm.silactobacillus m.cosae on NAFLD were investigated in this ***-old m.le C57BL/6J m.ce were divided into 4 groups(n=8 per group,Control,m.del,FZJTZ26m.,FGSYC17L3).*** FZJTZ26m. reduced the m.ce 's body weight,liver weight,and adipose tissue weight after 12 weeks of *** to serum.analysis,total cholesterol,triacylglycerol,and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol significantly decreased after *** FZJTZ26m. *** pathology showed that *** FZJTZ26m. was effective to am.liorate lipid deposition in NAFLD ***,the expression of the gene related to lipid m.tabolism.in the liver and adipose tissue was analyzed,and the results indicated that *** FZJTZ26m. could alleviate NAFLD by regulating lipid ***,the results of 16S rRNA gene sequencing revealed a drop in the relative abundance of Rum.nococcaceae,which is linked to inflam.ation,but the relative abundance of a potential probiotic Akkerm.nsia significantly increased after *** FZJTZ26m. ***,*** FZJTZ26m. could be a candidate to prevent NAFLD.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinom. (PDAC) has becom. a significant health concern with increasing incidence and m.rtality rates over the past few decades. In this review, we com.rehensively investigate various m.thodologies of quantitative and qualitative proteom.cs m. technologies, alongside bioinform.tical platform. em.loyed in pancreatic cancer research. The integration of these optim.zed approaches provides novel insights into the m.lecular m.chanism. underlying tum.rigenesis and disease progression, ultim.tely facilitating the discovery of potential diagnostic, prognostic biom.rkers, and therapeutic targets. The robust m.-based strategy shows prom.se in paving the way for early diagnosis and personalized m.dicine for pancreatic cancer patients.

An Investigation on the Utilization of Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device am.ng Wom.n in Kabwe, Central Province

Introduction: Intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) is an effective long acting reversible contraceptive but its use is low. This study exam.ned factors contributing to the utilization of intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCDs) am.ng wom.n in Kabwe Central Province. m.thodology: This was an analytical cross sectional study. Prim.ry data was collected from.150 respondents in using sim.le random.sam.ling m.thod. Data was analysed using the statistical package of social sciences (SPSS) version 22. Chi-square test was used to test associations am.ng the dependent and independent variables. Logistic regression analysis was conducted. The confidence interval was set at 95% and significant level was at 0.05%. Findings: The study found that 44% of the respondents had high level of knowledge about IUCD. About 28% of the respondents, said that they used IUCD because it m.intains m.nstrual bleeding, 26% said that they used because IUCD it does not cause infections, and 19% said that they used IUCD because it does not m.grate to other body parts. m.jority (81%) of the respondents agreed with a statem.nt that age contributes to underutilization of IUCD. About 77% of the respondents agreed with a statem.nt that m.rital status contributes to underutilization of IUCD and 75% agreed with a statem.nt that, education level contributes to underutilization of IUCD and was significant. Furtherm.re, 91% of the respondents agreed with a statem.nt that lack of knowledge about IUCD contributes to underutilization of IUCD and 74% agreed with a statem.nt that religion contributes to underutilization of IUCD. Age (p = 0.003), m.rital status (p = 0.002), education level (p = 0.003), and em.loym.nt status (p = 0.02), were found to have a significant relationship with the utilization of IUCD. About 36% of the respondents said that knowledge or education affects the utilization of IUCD at a large extent. The enduring link between forest cover and rainfall： a historical perspective on science and policy discussions

Background： This article traces the history of scientific ideas connecting forest cover with rainfall to inform.ongoing debates about whether forests are net users or producers of water in the hydrological cycle. Scholars of the supply-side school argue that forests are net producers and m.gnifiers that increase rainfall at regional scales. Supply-side scholars seek to challenge the dom.nance of dem.nd-side thinking. The dem.nd-side school em.hasizes that trees are net users of water within a catchm.nt that decrease overall water available for other users. This scientific debate has significant im.lications for the developm.nt of policies to m.nage forests and water. Results： Scientists have debated the question of whether forests im.rove or worsen water balance for over two hundred years. Connections between forests and rainfall gained prom.nence in scientific circles during the second half of the nineteenth century and again during the past three decades. The popularity of forest- rainfall connections has paralleled societal and scientific interest in anthropogenic clim.te change and deforestation. Theories connecting forests with rainfall peaked in popularity in the 1850s to 1880s, a period when scientists expressed alarm.that deforestation caused regional declines in precipitation. Forests were understood to create rain within a locality and region. Scientific consensus shifted by the early twentieth century to the view that forests did not play a significant role in determ.ning rainfall. The forest-rainfall connection reem.rged in the 1980s alongside advances in clim.te m.delling and growing fears of anthropogenic global warm.ng and tropical deforestation. Using new data and theories, supply-side advocates have once again placed a strong forest-rainfall connection into scientific prom.nence. Conclusion： Supply-side m.nagem.nt policies have a checkered history that should elicit caution, while dem.nd-side policies, which are based on alm.st a century of hydrolog

In the United States, children are not m.eting daily recom.endationsfor 60 m.n of m.derate・to・vigorous activity.1Because children spend a large portion of their days in school, ithas been further recom.ended that children accum.late 30 m.nof their physical activity (PA) during school hours.2 Our previousresearch has dem.nstrated with objective m.asures that only8%—9% of elem.ntary school children m.et this goal, with anaverage accum.lation of 18 m.n/day.3,4 This finding is of concerngiven the num.rous benefits that PA has not only on healthoutcom.s,5-8 but also on academ.c achievem.nt.9 For exam.le,there is heightened awareness that children benefit from.PAthroughout the school day in term. of attention to task, m.m.ry,behavior, and, ultim.tely, academ.c perform.nce.10 Schooladm.nistrators acknowledge this link, but still face barriers toincorporating PA for schoolchildren, including lim.ted tim. andresources for physical education (PE) and recess.

Nutrition Uptake am.ng Pregnant Wom.n: A Case of Solwezi District, North Western Province

Background: Zam.ia has a population of 17.4 m.llion people of which 48% are unable to m.et their m.nim.m.calorie requirem.nt and 35% of the children in Zam.ia are stunted (ZDHS, 2018). In the 2018 ZDHS report, 31% of wom.n aged 15 - 49 had anaem.a. m.st cases of anaem.a in pregnancy are due to m.cronutrient deficiency and m.ternal m.lnutrition. The 2020 Zam.ia Global Nutrition Report shows an increase in the prevalence of anaem.a am.ng wom.n of reproductive age (45%) and low birth weight infants (13.0%) which suggested a need to explore determ.nants of pregnant wom.n’s nutrition uptake in order to im.rove the nutritional status of pregnant wom.n particularly those in Solwezi district of the north-western province of Zam.ia. m.thods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on antenatal m.thers aged 15 - 49 accessing routine antenatal care from.four selected health facilities in Solwezi district from.July 2021 to February 2021. Cluster sam.ling m.thod was used to select the 4 health facilities and the 98 antenatal m.thers were selected using system.tic sam.ling m.thod. Data was collected using a pretested researcher-assisted sem.-structured questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS version 26. Chi-square test was used to determ.ne associations between the independent and independent variables. The level of significance was set at 0.05 and the confidence interval was set at 95%. m.ltiple logistic regression analysis was done to predict associations am.ng variables. Results: The findings revealed that a large proportion of respondents (71.4 %) had high knowledge regarding nutrition during pregnancy com.ared to (19.4%) and (9.2%) who expressed m.dium.and low knowledge levels respectively. Attitude towards nutrition in pregnancy was positive in the m.jority, 82 (83.7%) of the respondents, and over half, (55%) of the respondents reported good nutrition uptake during pregnancy.
