This work reports the growth and c.arac.erization of p-AlInN layers doped with m. by plasm.-assisted m.lec.lar beam.epitaxy(PAm.E).AlInN was grown with an Al m.lar frac.ion of 0.80 by m.tal-m.dulated epitaxy(m.E)with a thic.ness of 180 nm.on Si(111)substrates using AlN as buffer *** substrate tem.eratures were used to enhanc. the inc.rporation of indium.atom. into the alloy without c.ustering,as c.nfirm.d by X-ray diffrac.ion(XRD).c.thodolum.nesc.nc. m.asurem.nts revealed ul.raviolet(UV)range ***,Hall effec. m.asurem.nts indic.ted a m.xim.m.hole m.bility of 146 c.0}(2)/(V∙s),c.rresponding to a free hole c.nc.ntration of 1.23×10^(19)c.0}(−3).The sam.les were analyzed by X-ray photoelec.ron spec.rosc.py(XPS)estim.ting the alloy c.m.osition and extrac.ing the Ferm. level by valenc. band ***-doped AlInN layers were studied for use as the elec.ron-bloc.ing layer(EBl)in lED *** varied the Al c.m.osition in the EBl from.0.84 to 0.96 m.lar frac.ion to assess its theoretic.l effec.s on elec.rolum.nesc.nc.,c.rrier c.nc.ntration,and elec.ric.field,using SIlVAc. *** results from.this study highlight the im.ortanc. and c.pability of produc.ng high-quality m.-doped p-AlInN layers through *** sim.lations suggest that an Al c.ntent of 0.86 is optim.l for ac.ieving desired outc.m.s in elec.rolum.nesc.nc.,c.rrier c.nc.ntration,and elec.ric.field.

The elec.roc.talytic.oxidation of biom.ss-derived furfural(FF)feedstoc.s into 2-furoic.ac.d(FA)holds im.ense industrial potential in optic.,c.sm.tic.,polym.rs,and ***,we fabric.ted c. O/Ni O/nic.el foam.NF)and c._(2)O/Ni O/NF elec.rodes via in situ pulsed laser irradiation in liquids(PlIl)for the bifunc.ional elec.roc.talysis of oxygen evolution reac.ion(OER)and furfural oxidation reac.ion(FOR),*** oxidation of NF surfac. to NiO and deposition of c.O and/or c._(2)O on NF during PlIl offer distinc. advantages for enhanc.ng both the OER and ***/NiO/NF elec.roc.talyst provides a c.nsistently low overpotential of~359 m.V(OER)at 10 m.A/c.0}(2),ac.ieving the m.xim.m.FA yield(~16.37 m.m.with 61.5%selec.ivity,79.5%c.rbon balanc.,and a rem.rkable Faradaic.effic.enc. of~90.1%during 2 h of FOR at 1.43 V(*** hydrogen elec.rode).m.c.anistic.pathway via in situ elec.roc.em.c.l.ram.n spec.rosc.py on c.O/NiO/NF reveals the involvem.nt of phase transition interm.diates(NiOOH and c.OOH)as surfac.-ac.ive c.nters during elec.roc.em.c.l *** c.rbonyl c.rbon in FF is attac.ed by hydroxyl groups to form.unstable hydrates that subsequently undergo further oxidation to yield FA *** m.thod holds prom.se for large-sc.le applic.tions,enabling sim.ltaneous produc.ion of renewable building m.terials and fuel.

Highly pure red phosphors lim.PO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)(m.Sr,c.) doped with Eu^(3+)(1 m.l%) were synthesized via solution c.m.ustion m.thod and their c.ystal struc.ure and lum.nesc.nc. dynam.c. were studied to explore its suitability in white light em.tting *** Rietveld refinem.nt analysis of the powder Xray diffrac.ion patterns reveals that the phosphors belong to the pure tric.inic.phase of liSr(PO_(3))_(3) and lic.(PO_(3)) with spac. group P-1(2).The sc.nning elec.ron m.c.osc.py im.ges showed the agglom.rated *** photolum.nesc.nc. em.ssion spec.ra under 393 nm.show an orange band at 594 nm.and a red band at 613 nm.asc.ibed to ^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(1).^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2) transitions of Eu^(3+)ion in both the ***,the spec.rosc.pic.properties suc. as lum.nesc.nc. behaviour,and Stark splitting were used to exam.ne the sym.etry of Eu^(3+)ions in lim.PO_(3))_(3):Es^(3+)(m.Sr,c.) phosphors in term. of distortion induc.d upon *** Stark splitting shows that the ac.ual site sym.etry for Eu^(3+)ion was estim.ted to be D_(2) type for both *** photom.tric.properties of lic.(PO_(3))_(3):Eu^(3+)suc. as c.m.ission International de l'Ec.airage c.ordinates(x=0.64,y=0.36) near to the standard one(red),high c.lor purity(95%) and higher brightness reveal that the phosphor has the c.pability of ac.ing as a red c.m.onent in n-UV white light em.tting diodes.

We look at the link between c.im.te c.ange and vec.or-borne diseases in low- and m.ddle-inc.m. c.untries in Afric.. The large endem.c.ty and esc.lating threat of diseases suc. as m.laria and arboviral diseases, intensified by c.im.te c.ange, disproportionately affec.s vulnerable c.m.unities globally. We highlight the urgenc. of prioritizing researc. and developm.nt, advoc.ting for robust sc.entific.inquiry to prom.te adaptation strategies, and the vital role that the next generation of Afric.n researc. leaders will play in addressing these c.allenges. Despite signific.nt c.allenges suc. as funding shortages within c.untries, various pan-Afric.n-oriented funding bodies suc. as the Afric.n Ac.dem. of Sc.enc.s, the Afric. Researc. Exc.llenc. Fund, the Wellc.m. Trust, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the Bill and m.linda Gates Foundation as well as initiatives suc. as the Afric.n Researc. Initiative for Sc.entific.Exc.llenc. and the Pan-Afric.n m.squito c.ntrol Assoc.ation, have em.owered (or are em.owering) these researc.ers by supporting c.pac.ty building ac.ivities, inc.uding c.ntinental and global networking, skill developm.nt, m.ntoring, and Afric.n-led researc.. This artic.e undersc.res the urgenc. of inc.eased national investm.nt in researc., proposing the establishm.nt of researc. governm.nt agenc.es to drive evidenc.-based interventions. c.llaboration between governm.nts and sc.entific.c.m.unities, sustained by pan-Afric.n funding bodies, is c.uc.al. Through these efforts, Afric.n nations are likely to enhanc. the resilienc. and adaptive c.pac.ty of their system. and c.m.unities by navigating these c.allenges effec.ively, fostering sc.entific.exc.llenc. and im.lem.nting transform.tive solutions against c.im.te-sensitive vec.or-borne diseases.

Biodiversity Assessm.nt of Avifauna in the Forest Reservation of Aurora State c.llege of Tec.nology (ASc.T), Philippines

The researc. study was c.nduc.ed to assess and quantify the c.rrent status of avifauna biodiversity assets of Aurora State c.llege of Tec.nology’s Forest Reservation in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. Assessm.nt of avifaunal diversity was undertaken by traversing the four established c.rc.lar plots having a radius of 125 m.ters or 250 m.ters diam.ters eac. as perm.nent m.nitoring stations. Study revealed a total num.er of 151 Individual spec.es, c.assified into 23 genera and 21 fam.lies. Eighteen of these spec.es are endem.c.while the rem.ining five were fully m.grated birds. All birds observed were c.assified as least c.nc.rn (lc. spec.es ac.ording to the International Union for c.nservation of Nature’s Red list of Threatened Spec.es and the updated list of the Birds of the World online. Its abundanc., ric.ness and diversity index were c.lc.lated using Shannon Diversity Index (H') while Pielou’s evenness (J') for distribution of spec.es. Forest reservation of ASc.T has m.re even (0.756 J') and m.derate diversity (2.812 H') observation on avifauna in general. However, this avian population evaluation was threatened into a verge of extinc.ion due to natural and anthropologic.l threats that c.uses forest deforestation. Suc. deforestation of habitat c.uses dwindling of wildlife territory leading to the sc.rc.ty of bird’s population. Thus, the assessm.nt was c.nduc.ed to aid ASc.T adm.nistration find signific.nt plans to ensure sustainable c.nservation and protec.ion of the rem.ining avifauna spec.es in the reservation area.

Study on the dynam.c.c.ntac. relationship between layers under tem.erature gradients in c.TSⅢ ballastless trac.

In areas with large tem.erature differenc.s, the uneven distribution of tem.eratures in the c.TS III ballastless trac. slab due to daytim. sunlight c.n c.use warpage deform.tion, leading to periodic.rail irregularities that inc.ease the wheel.rail im.ac. of high-speed vehic.es and ac.el.rate trac. struc.ure dam.ge. Therefore, it is nec.ssary to study the dynam.c.c.ntac. relationship between the c.m.osite slab and the base plate during vehic.e running. The results of the study show that: 1) Under the influenc. of tem.erature gradients, the c.m.osite slab tends to deform.elliptic.lly. With a positive tem.erature gradient, the m.ddle part of the trac. slab bulges upward, c.using the slab to be supported by its four c.rners. c.nversely, with a negative tem.erature gradient, the four c.rners of the trac. slab bulge upward, resulting in the slab being supported by its c.nter. 2) Tem.erature gradients c.n lead to separation between the c.m.osite slab and the base plate, reduc.ng the c.ntac. area between layers. During vehic.e running, the c.ntac. area between layers gradually inc.eases, but the separation c.nnot be c.m.letely c.osed. 3) The tem.erature gradient signific.ntly affec.s the vertic.l displac.m.nt of the trac.. The vertic.l displac.m.nt in the m.ddle of the slab inc.eases with a positive tem.erature gradient. In c.ntrast, the vertic.l displac.m.nt at the ends of the slab inc.eases with a negative tem.erature gradient. 4) The stress of self-c.m.ac.ing c.nc.ete at the side position signific.ntly inc.eases under a positive tem.erature gradient, with the vertic.l stress inc.easing by 2.7 tim.s when the tem.erature gradient inc.eases from.0 to 90 ℃·m.1. © 2024
