m.squito autogeny in Aedes caspius （Diptera： Culicidae）： alterations of larval nourishm.nts reservation upon bacterial infection

The present study recorded m.squito autogeny for the first tim. am.ngst Aedes caspius species in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia. Laboratory rearing showed an obligatory autogenous species of Ae. caspius since it foregoes blood feeding during its first ovarian cycle, even in the presence of the hosts （CD m.use）, but produces its second egg batch only if ingested a blood m.al. Both m.rphological and m.lecular identification confirm.d that both autogenous and anautogenous strains belong to the sam. species of Ae. caspius. Data from.biochem.cal analysis showed significant 2, 1.6, and 1.4 folds higher total carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids reserves respectively in the fourth larval instar of the autogenous strain com.ared to that of the anautogenous ones. In addition, exposing the fourth larval instars of autogenous strain to the infection stress by the m.squito larvicidal bacterium. Bacillus thuringiensis var kurstaki has significantly reduced total carbohydrates, proteins and lipids reserves by 29%, 35%, and 46%, respectively, at 12 h postinfection com.ared to those of uninfected ones. These reductions in nourishm.nt reserves were m.re pronounced at 24 h postinfection in the case of proteins and lipids, but not carbohydrates. These results m.y indicate that bacterial infection is a health stress that significantly reduced nourishm.nts reservation, which m.y interrupt the success of adult autogeny. However, the im.act of infection-induced decline in larval nourishm.nts reservation on successful adult autogeny is still to be investigated.

Utilization of nitrogen （N） elem.nt is a com.on practice used to reach profitable yields in horticultural crops and N supply can be used as a tool to m.nipulate the enhancem.nt of phytochem.cals and m.nerals in vegetable crops to address consum.r-oriented quality production. Hence the study was aim.d to investigate the effect of N application on leaf m.rphology, ascorbic acid content, phenolic acids, flavonoids, m.neral content, and nitrate residues in three lettuce varieties （two green leafy lettuce, m.ltigreen 1 and m.ltigreen 3; one red leafy lettuce, m.ltired 4） grown in a closed hydroponic system.（grave^-film. at harvest. Nitrogen was applied as am.onium.nitrate （NH4NO3） at six different concentrations of 0, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 m. L^-1. The results obtained during 2015 and 2016 seasons were sim.lar and dem.nstrated variety dependent responses with respect to different N application rates. m.ltigreen 3 was m.re sensitive to N supply and showed higher am.unt of nitrate residue at harvest. Variety m.ltired 4 was less sensitive to N supply followed by m.ltigreen 11 Although N supply at 120 m. L^-1 im.roved the yield and the num.er of leaves in m.ltigreen 3, overall 90 m. L^-1 can be recom.ended for these lettuce varieties to im.rove the yield and the accum.lation of ascorbic acid content, phenolic acids m.inly caffeic, caftaric acids, quercetin （the im.ortant flavonoid in lettuce）, and Fe and m. contents. Furtherm.re, the concentration of 90 m. L^-1 im.roved the antioxidant property （FRAP and ABTS^＋） and reduced the nitrate accum.lation, ensuring safe food for consum.rs.

The epigenetic regulation of gene expression is critical for ensuring the proper deploym.nt and stability of defined genom. transcription program. at specific developm.ntal stages. The cellular m.m.ry of stable gene expression states during anim.l and plant developm.nt is m.diated by the opposing activities of Polycom. group （PcG） factors and trithorax group （trxG） factors. Yet, despite their im.ortance, only a few trxG factors have been characterized in plants and their rotes in regulating plant developm.nt are poorly defined. In this work, we report that the closely related Arabidopsis trxG genes ULTRAPETALA1 （ULT1） and ULT2 have overlapping functions in regulating shoot and floral stem.cell accum.la- tion, with ULT1 playing a m.jor role but ULT2 also m.king a m.nor contribution. The two genes also have a novel, redun- dant activity in establishing the apical-basal polarity axis of the gynoecium. indicating that they function in differentiating tissues. Like ULT1 proteins, ULT2 proteins have a dual nuclear and cytoplasm.c localization, and the two proteins physically associate in planta. Finally, we dem.nstrate that ULT1 and ULT2 have very sim.lar overexpression phenotypes and regulate a com.on set of key developm.nt target genes, including floral m.DS-box genes and class I KNOX genes. Our results reveal that chrom.tin rem.deling m.diated by the ULT1 and ULT2 proteins is necessary to control the developm.nt of m.r- istem. and reproductive organs. They also suggest that, like their anim.l counterparts, plant trxG proteins m.y function in m.lti-protein com.lexes to up-regulate the expression of key stage- and tissue-specific developm.ntal regulatory genes.

Liver resection is increasingly used for a variety of benign and m.lignant conditions.Despite advances in preoperative selection,surgical technique and perioperative m.nagem.nt,posthepatectom. liver failure(PHLF)is still a leading cause of m.rbidity and m.rtality following liver resection.Given the devastating physiological consequences of PHLF and the lack of effective treatm.nt options,identifying risk factors and preventative strategies for PHLF is param.unt.In the past,a m.jor lim.tation to conducting high quality research on risk factors and prevention strategies for PHLF has been the absence of a standardized definition.In this article,we describe relevant definitions for PHLF,discuss risk factors and prediction m.dels,and review advances in liver assessm.nt tools and PHLF prevention strategies.

This paper deals with the synthesis of fuzzy controller applied to the induction m.tor with a guaranteed m.del reference tracking perform.nce. First, the Takagi-Sugeno （T-S） fuzzy m.del is used to approxim.te the nonlinear system.in the synchronous d-q fram. rotating with field-oriented control strategy. Then, a fuzzy state feedback controller is designed to reduce the tracking error by m.nim.zing the disturbance level. The proposed controller is based on a T-S reference m.del in which the desired trajectory has been specified. The inaccessible rotor flux is estim.ted by a T-S fuzzy observer. The developed approach for the controller design is based on the synthesis of an augm.nted fuzzy m.del which regroups the m.del of induction m.chine, fuzzy observer, and reference m.del. The gains of the observer and controller are obtained by solving a set of linear m.trix inequalities （Lm.s）. Finally, sim.lation and experim.ntal results are given to show the perform.nce of the observer-based tracking controller.

An explicit evaluation of the deuteron spin asym.etry and the associated Gerasim.v-Drell Hearn （GDH） integral for coherent and incoherent π-photoproduction channels with inclusion of rescattering effects is presented. The helicity-dependent total inclusive photoabsorption cross section on the deuteron and the helicity-dependent sem.exclusive channels γd→π± NN and γd→π0X （X = pn or d） are explicitly evaluated up to 1.5 GeV. Our m.del calculations indicate that convergence of the GDH integral is reached for π-production, while it is not com.letely reached for π-production. For the sum.of 7d → πNN and γd→ π0d contributions to the finite GDH integral by explicit integration up to 1.5 GeV, a value of 249.73μb is obtained. The extracted results are com.ared with available experim.ntal data from.m.m. and ELSA. We find that our predictions fairly well reproduce the data in the μ±NN case, while fail to predict the m.asured shape of the μ0X channel.

Atom.c nuclei are com.lex system. with gigantic configuration spaces, therefore truncations of m.del spaces are indispensable. Due to the short-range nature of the nuclear interactions, one m.y resort to a truncation by using coherent nucleon-pairs which are conveniently further sim.lified as bosons, such as sd bosons. The discovery of the spin-zero ground state dom.nance with random.two-body interactions led to a series of studies on regular structure for sd bosons in the presence of random.interactions, and this review article sum.arizes studies along this line in last two decades. We concentrate on various patterns exhibited in sd boson system., and dem.nstrate that m.ny random.sam.les which were thought to be noisy exhibit very regular patterns, som. of which are interpreted in term. of the V（5）, O（6）, O（6）, SU（3）, and SU（3） dynam.cal sym.etries of the sd interacting boson m.del.
