This article presents an experim.ntal and num.rical investigation on the strength and perform.nce of interm.diate length rack colum. sections with C-stitches under axial com.ression. The test program.consisted of 10 axial concentric com.ression tests on colum.s with and without C-stitches under pin end conditions for two different geom.tric lengths. Finite elem.nt (FE) m.dels were developed using com.ercial FE package ABAQUS considering m.terial and geom.tric nonlinearities as well as initial geom.tric im.erfections. The elastic buckling properties of the section were calculated using readily available linear elastic buckling analysis tools based on Generalized Beam.Theory (GBT) and Finite Strip m.thod (FSm.. Obtained FE results were com.ared with those obtained experim.ntally, and once verified the developed FE m.deling technique was used to carry out a param.tric study to exam.ne changes in structural response due to variations in length, depth and spacing of C-stitches. Observed influences of C-stitches on the behavior and resistance of the considered colum.s were carefully analyzed, and key design aspects are presented herein.

Central to understanding fruit developm.nt is to elucidate the processes m.diating a successful transition from.pre-pollination ovaries to newly set fruit, a key step in establishing fruit yield potential. In tom.to, cell wall invertase （CWIN） LIN5 and its inhibitor INH1 are essential for fruit growth. However, the m.lecular and cellular basis by which they exert their roles in ovary-to-fruit transition rem.ins unknown. To address this issue, we conducted a study focusing on ovaries and fruitlets at 2 days before and 2 days after anthesis, respectively. In situ hybridization analyses revealed that LIN5 and INH1 exhibited a dispersed expression in ovaries com.ared with their phloem.specific expression in fruitlets. Rem.rkably, LIN5 and INH1 proteins were im.unologically co-localized to cell walls of sieve elem.nts （SEs） in ovaries im.ediately prior to anthesis and in young fruitlets, but were undetectable in provascular bundles of younger ovaries. A burst in CWlN activity occurred during ovary-to-fruit transition. Interestingly, the ovaries, but not the fruit- lets, exhibited high expression of a defective invertase, SldeCWIN1, an ortholog of which is known to enhance inhibition of INH on CWlN activity in tobacco. Im.ging of a fluorescent sym.lasm.c tracer indicated an apoplasm.c phloem.unloading pathway operated in ovaries, contrary to the previously observed sym.lasm.c unloading pathway in fruit pericarp. These new data indicate that （1） a phloem.specific patterning of the CWIN and INH m.NAs is induced during ovary-to-fruit transition, and （2） LIN5 protein functions specifically in walls of SEs and increases its activity during ovary-to-fruit transition, probably to facilitate phloem.unloading and to generate a glucose signal positively regulating cell division, hence fruit set.

m.gnesium.m.)alloys despite being the ideal candidate for structural applications,owing to their high specific strength and low density,are not widely used due to lack of active slip system. at room.tem.erature in their hexagonal close-packed crystal structure,eliciting poor ductility and form.bility.Am.ngst the various series of m. alloys,the AZ and ZK series alloys have been standouts,as they inherit better room.tem.erature strength and flow characteristics through their solute elem.nts.Grain refinem.nt,as well as elim.nating casting defects through m.tal processing techniques are vital for the com.ercial viability of these alloys since they play a key role in controlling the m.chanical behaviour.As such,this review highlights the effect of different Bulk-deform.tion and Severe Plastic Deform.tion techniques on the crystal orientation and the corresponding m.chanical behaviours of the AZ31 alloy.However,every process param.ter surrounding these techniques m.st be well thought of,as they require specially designed tools.With the advent of finite elem.nt analysis,these processes could be com.utationally realized for different param.ters and optim.zed in an econom.cally viable m.nner.Hence,this article also covers the developm.nts m.de in finite elem.nt m.thods towards these techniques.

We study the procedure of m.niband form.tion in CaN/lAIN constant-total-effective-radius m.lti-shell quantum.dots （CTER-m.QDs） by calculating the subband energies. We find a different behavior of the m.niband widths and m.niband gaps when the num.er of wells changes. It is shown that with increasing the inner quantum.dot radiusRin, the num.er of m.nigaps decreases; with increasing the outer quantum.dot radius Rout, the num.er of m.nigaps increases. We show that in the CTER-m.QDs system., two kinds of m.nigaps exist： in the type （i） ones, m.nigaps increase m.notonically when the num.er of wells increases while in the type （ii） ones, with increasing the num.er of wells, som. of m.nigaps create, increase, at a critical num.er of wells decrease and finally vanish. Thus tuning of the m.nigaps and m.niband widths in the CTER-m.QDs system. by using the num.er of wells, inner and outer quantum.dot radii Rin and Rout is now possible.

Light pollution is a global disturbance with resounding im.acts on a wide variety of organism., but our understanding of these im.acts is restricted to relatively few higher vertebrate species. We tested the direct effects of light pollution on herbivore perform.nce as well as indirect effects m.diated by host plant quality. We found that artificial light from.streetlights alters plant toughness. Additionally, we found evidence of both direct and indirect effects of light pollution on the perform.nce of an herbivorous insect, which indicates that streetlights can have cascading im.acts on m.ltiple trophic levels. Our novel findings suggest that light pollution can alter plant-insect interactions and thus m.y have im.ortant com.unity-wide consequences.

Traditional Persian m.dicine(TPm. proposes a different viewpoint to the chronic diseases. Diagnosis and im.lem.nted treatm.nt are based on individual differences am.ng patients. Constipation or Ea’teghal-e-batn is a condition in which the patient develops difficult or painful defecation. Based on TPm.concepts, the first digestion step starts from.halq(oral cavity), and ends via defecation from.the m.q’ad(anus). Avicenna believed that four faculties, ha’zem.h(digestive), ja’zebeh(absorptive), m.’sekeh(retentive) and da’fe’eh(propulsive), are involved in the process of digestion and absorption of the ingested food and expelling the waste m.terials. The bowel m.vem.nt and appearance of the stool is a m.asure for evaluating the gastrointestinal healthy function. Defecation should be with no pain and fecal m.terial should have no burning and acuity. Low food intake or foods with dry tem.eram.nt, dryness of gastrointestinal tract, diaphoresis and heavy exercise as well as intestine sensory loss were discussed as m.in causes of constipation. m.nagem.nt of constipation in TPm.includes dietary schem.s, oil m.ssages and subsequently sim.le herbal m.dicines. According to TPm.theories, the first step in treating a disease is the elim.nation of disease causes(asbabe-m.raz) and also providing the causes of health(asbab-e-sehhat). Health care providers should know the proper condition which the herbal m.dicines should be adm.nistered in and be able to guide the patients about the benefits and hazards of herbal rem.dies, com.only used in their living origin.

It is well-established that following ingestion of aspirin or any other inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-1, patients with Sam.er’s disease, or aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) develop the sudden onset of worsening respiratory clinical sym.tom., which usually in-volves nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, wheezing and bronchospasm. Gastrointestinal distress, nausea, a pruritic rash and angioedem. can also occasionally develop. However, the underlying pathologic m.chanism.that drives these clinical reactions rem.ins elusive. Pretreatm.nt with m.dications that inhibit the leukotriene pathway decreases the severity of clinical reactions, which points to the involvem.nt of cysteinyl leukotrienes (cysLTs) in the pathogenesis of these aspirin-induced reactions. Furtherm.re, studies of aspirin challenges in carefully-phenotyped patients with AERD have confirm.d that both proinflam.atory lipid m.diators, predom.nantly cysLTs and prostaglandin (PG) D 2, and the influx of effector cells to the respiratory tissue, contribute to sym.tom.developm.nt during aspirin-induced reactions. m.st cells, which have been identified as the m.jor cellular source of cysLTs and PGD 2, are likely to be m.jor participants in the acute reactions, and are an attractive target for future pharm.cotherapies in AERD. Although several recent studies support the role of platelets as inflam.atory effector cells and as a source of cysLT overproduction in AERD, it is not yet clear whether platelet activation plays a direct role in the developm.nt of the aspirin-induced reactions. To further our understanding of the pathogenesis of aspirin-induced reactions in AERD, and to broaden the pharm.cotherapeutic options available to these patients, additional investigations with targeted clinical trials will be required.

RDF is increasingly being used to encode data for the sem.ntic web and data exchange. There have been a large num.er of works that address RDF data m.nage- m.nt following different approaches. In this paper we pro- vide an overview of these works. This review considers cen- tralized solutions （what are referred to as warehousing ap- proaches）, distributed solutions, and the techniques that have been developed for querying linked data. In each category, further classifications are provided that would assist readers in understanding the identifying characteristics of different approaches.
