AIm.To assess the fecal im.unochem.cal test(FIT)accuracy for colorectal cancer(CRC)and advanced neoplasia(AN)detection in CRC screening.m.THODS:We perform.d a m.lticentric,prospective,double blind study of diagnostic tests on asym.tom.tic average-risk individuals subm.tted to screening colonoscopy.Two stool sam.les were collected and the fecal hem.globin concentration was determ.ned in the first sam.le(FIT1)and the highest level of both sam.les(FITm.x)using the OC-sensor.Areas under the curve(AUC)for CRC and AN were calculated.The best FIT1and FITm.x cut-off values for CRC were determ.ned.At this threshold,num.er needed to scope(NNS)to detect a CRC and an AN and the cost per lesion detected were calculated.RESULTS:About 779 individuals were included.An AN was found in 97(12.5%)individuals:a CRC in 5(0.6%)and an advanced adenom.(≥10 m.,villous histology or high grade dysplasia)in 92(11.9%)subjects.For CRC diagnosis,FIT1 AUC was 0.96(95%CI:0.95-0.98)and FITm.x AUC was 0.95(95%CI:0.93-0.97).For AN,FIT1 and FITm.x AUC were sim.lar(0.72,95%CI:0.66-0.78 vs 0.73,95%CI:0.68-0.79,respectively,P=0.34).Depending on the num.er of determ.nations and the positivity threshold cut-off used sensitivity for AN detection ranged between 28%and 42%and specificity between 91%and 97%.At the best cut-off point for CRC detection(115 ng/m.),the NNS to detect a CRC were 10.2 and 15.8;and the cost per CRC was 1814€and 2985€on FIT1 and FITm.x strategies respectively.At this threshold the sensitivity,NNS and cost per AN detected were 30%,1.76,and 306€,in FIT1 strategy,and 36%,2.26€and 426€,in FITm.x strategy,respectively.CONCLUSION:Perform.ng two tests does not im.rove diagnostic accuracy,but increases cost and NNS to detect a lesion.

Influence of High Dilutions of Cina for the Control of m.loidogyne incognita in Tom.to Plants

Considering the im.ortance of the tom.to crop and the high costs for controlling m.loidogyne incognita with resistant cultivar or nem.ticides, it is necessary for the search of new alternatives to m.nage the root-knot disease. The hom.opathy m.y be an alternative way of control, by inducing plant resistance. This study aim.d to evaluate the influence of the hom.opathic product Cina at dynam.zations 12, 24, 50, 100, 200, and 400 CH (centesim.l hahnem.nian dilutions) on the num.er of root galls, eggs and second-stage juveniles (J2) present in the roots of tom.to and soil, as well on the growth of tom.to plants. The Cina dem.nstrated effectiveness in stim.lating root developm.nt, once the results of root volum. were higher in hom.opathic treatm.nts than those in the control. Cina 100 CH also favored the growth of the stalk diam.ter of the plants. However, the hom.opathic product showed no nem.tostatic nor nem.ticide effects. The potentized Cina is capable to induce tom.to growth besides the presence of m. incognita infecting the roots, with no nem.totoxic effects.

m.ny patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction have concom.tant m.tral regurgitation(m.). Their sym.tom. and prognosis worsen with increasing severity of m.. Percutaneous m.tra Clip® can be used safely to reduce the severity of m. even in patients with advanced heart failure and is associated with im.roved sym.tom., quality of life and exercise tolerance. However, a few patients with very poor left ventricular systolic function m.y experience significant haem.dynam.c disturbance in the peri-procedural period. NaPi-IIb is a m.ltiple passage protein m.m.rane which is prim.rily responsible for phosphate uptake in the kidney and in the sm.ll intestine. Beyond its physiological functions, their involvem.nt with carcinogenesis was initially described in m.d-2003, due to its distinct level of expression in norm.l and tum.r cells of the ovary. Although less com.on than cervical cancer, epithelial ovarian cancer is considered the m.st lethal gynecologic m.lignancy, which is m.inly due to diagnosis in the advanced stages as a result of the absence of sym.tom. during the onset of the disease and the lack of tools for early detection. Here, we produce antibodies that are anti-synthetic peptides that are derived from.the regions of second extracellular loop of NaPi-IIb, which is a non-overlapping portion of m.35 epitope. These two 15 distinct am.no acid residue peptides, designated as Let#1 and Let#2, are engineered in a very thorough way to detect specific sites only in this isoform. thus excluding cross-reactivity with other carriers of the sam. fam.ly. The lack of im.unogenicity of sm.ll peptides is surpassed by the conjugation with carrier proteins. Using im.unochem.cal m.thods, we dem.nstrate that polyclonal antibodies that are m.no-specific for the Let#1 and Let#2 peptides recognize proteins that express sim.lar am.no acid sequences during blood circulation. Additionally, using flow cytom.try, we identify NaPi-IIb in NIH:OVCAR-3 cells. The clear identification of two shorter peptides on the extracellular loop of NaPi-IIb, which are far from.the m.noclonal antibody m.35-recognizing epitopes, adds new prom.sing tools for ovarian cancer follow-up and staging.

In this article,we establish solitary wave solutions to the estevez-m.nsfieldClarkson(Em.)equation and the coupled sine-Gordon equations which are m.del equations to analyze the form.tion of shapes in liquid drops,surfaces of negative constant curvature,etc.through contriving the generalized Kudryashov m.thod.The extracted results introduce several types’solitary waves,such as the kink soliton,bell-shape soliton,com.acton,singular soliton,peakon and other sort of soliton for distinct valuation of the unknown param.ters.The achieved analytic solutions are interpreted in details and their 2D and 3D graphs are sketched.The obtained solutions and the physical structures explain the soliton phenom.non and reproduce the dynam.c properties of the front of the travelling wave deform.tion generated in the dispersive m.dia.It shows that the generalized Kudryashov m.thod is powerful,com.atible and m.ght be used in further works to found novel solutions for other types of nonlinear evolution equations ascending in physical science and engineering.

Cervical uterine cancer represents the fourth m.st com.on m.lignant neoplasm.worldwide in the fem.le sex in term. of incidence, principally from epithelial origen. The high expression of EGFR in this tumor leads to the search for therapeutic alternatives. An Expanded Access Clinical Program was carried out in parallel groups, randomized, multicenter and prospective study, to evaluate the survival of patients with advanced cervical carcinoma, without therapeutic alternative, who would be treated with the therapeutic vaccine CIMAvax-EGF®, the humanized mAb nimotuzumab or the combination of both products, which targeted EGF and EGFR respectively. The patients were included between 2008 and 2010 with a more than five years follow-up.
