The m.in objective of the research presented in this paper is to study the bending behaviour of Concrete Filled Steel Tube （CFST） colum.s m.de with Rubberized Concrete （RuC）, and to assess the seism.c perform.nce of m.m.nt-resisting fram.s with these structural m.m.ers. The paper describes an experim.ntal cam.aign where a total of 36 specim.ns were tested, resorting to a novel testing setup, aim.d at reducing both the preparation tim. and cost of the test specim.ns. Different geom.trical and m.terial param.ters were considered, nam.ly cross-section type, cross-section slenderness, aggregate replacem.nt ratio, axial load level and lateral loading type. The m.m.ers were tested under both m.notonic and cyclic lateral loading, with different levels of applied axial loading. The test results show that the bending behaviour of CFST elem.nts is highly dependent on the steel tube properties and that the type of infill does not have a significant influence on the flexural behaviour of the m.m.er. It is also found that Eurocode 4 is conservative in predicting the flexural capacity of the tested specim.ns. Additionally, it was found that the seism.c design of com.osite m.m.nt- resisting fram.s with CFST colum.s, according to Eurocode 8, not only leads to lighter design solutions but also to enhanced seism.c perform.nce in com.arison to steel fram.s.

To elucidate potential antioxidant, antidiarrheal, cytotoxic, and antibacterial activities of the ethanol extract of A/ocasia indica Schott tuber in different experim.ntal m.dels established in vitro and in vivo. m.THODS： In vitro antioxidant activity was evaluated by 2, 2-diphenyl-l-picrylhydrazyl （DPPH） radical-scavenging assay. Phenolic content was estim.ted by using Folin-Ciocalteu＇s reagent while reducing ability was m.asured by ferric reducing power assay./n vivo antidiarrheal studies were carried out in m.ce, and the activity was evaluated in castor oil and m.gnesium.sulfate- induced diarrhea. Disk diffusion assay was utilized to determ.ne antibacterial activity against a num.er of pathogenic bacterial strains. Acute toxicity test was carried out to m.asure the safe doses for the extract. RESULTS： In DPPH radical-scavenging assay, the extract exhibited strong radical-scavenging activity with the 50% inhibitory concentration value of 42.66 IJg/m.. Total phenolic content was found to be 542.26 m. gallic acid equivalent per 100 g of dried tuber extract, whereas flavonoid content was found to be 4.30 m. quercetin equivalent/g of dried tuber extract. In reducing power assay, the extract showed strong reducing power in a concentration-dependent m.nner. The extract significantly （P 〈 0.01） enhanced the latent period and decreased defecation in both castor oil- and m.gnesium.sulfate-induced diarrhea. The extract also lessened gastrointestinal m.tility in m.ce. Potential antibacterial activity was exhibited by the extract against all the tested bacterial strains in disk diffusion assay. The 50% lethal concentration against brine shrim. nauplii was 81.09 μg/m.. CONCLUSION： The results dem.nstrated that the ethanol extract of A. inc/ica has potential antioxidant, antidiarrheal, cytotoxic, and antibacterial activity.

The objective of this work is to dry the m.shroom. to evaluate the im.act of drying on them. The drying of m.shroom. in the oven, in the solar dryer and in the m.crowave indicated that for Term.tom.ces sp. the total polyphenol contents were 15.20 m.EAG/gm. for the m.crowave drying (280 W), 13.61 m.EAG/gm. for the oven drying (60°C), and 9.81 m.EAG/gm. for the solar dryer drying (40°C). For Pleurotus sp., the contents obtained were 13.79 m.EAG/gm. for m.crowave drying (280 W), 8.36 m.EAG/gm. for oven drying (60°C) and 8.98 m.EAG/gm. for solar drying (40°C). Regarding flavonoids, for Term.tom.ces sp., this revealed 0.5797 m.ECa/gm. for m.crowave drying (280 W), 0.729 m.ECa/gm. for oven drying (60°C) and 0.5671 m.ECa/gm. for solar drying (40°C). The flavonoid contents for Pleurotus sp. gave 0.842 m.ECa/gm. for m.crowave drying (280 W), 1.06 m.ECa/gm. for oven drying (60°C) and, 0.425 m.ECa/gm. for solar drying (40°C). For Term.tom.ces sp., the levels of free radical scavenging activity varied from.13.02 m./m. for m.crowave drying, 25.08 m./m. for oven drying, and 22.25 m./m. for solar drying;while for Pleurotus sp., 15.96 m./m. for m.crowave drying, 39.90 m./m. for oven drying, and 31.60 m./m. for solar drying.

Soil m.isture affects various hydrological processes, including evapotranspiration, infiltration, and runoff. Forested areas in the lower western Him.laya in India constitute the headwater catchm.nts for m.ny hill stream. and have experienced degradation in forest cover due to grazing, deforestation and other hum.n activities. This change in forest cover is likely to alter the soil m.isture regim. and, consequently, flow regim.s in stream.. The effect of change in forest cover on soil m.isture regim.s of this dry region has not been studied through long term.field observations. We m.nitored soil m.tric potentials in two sm.ll watersheds in the lower western Him.laya of India. The watersheds consisted of hom.geneous land covers of m.derately dense oak forest and m.derately degraded m.xed oak forest. Observations were recorded at three sites at three depths in each watershed at fortnightly intervals for a period of three years. The soil m.isture contents derived from.soil potential m.asurem.nts were analyzed to understand the spatial, tem.oral and profile variations under the two structures of forest cover. The analysis revealed large variations in soil m.isture storage at different sites and depths and also during different seasons in each watershed. m.an soil m.isture storage during m.nsoon, winter and sum.er seasons was higher under dense forest than under degraded forest. Highest soil m.isture content occurred at shallow soil profiles, decreasing with depth in both watersheds. A high positive correlation was found between tree density and soil m.isture content. m.an soil m.isture content over the entire study period was higher under dense forest than under degraded forest. This indicated a potential for soil water storage under well m.naged oak forest. Because soil water storage is vital for sustenance of low flows, attention is needed on the m.nagem.nt of oak forests in the Him.layan region.

The high field electrical conduction m.chanism.for the widely used ZnS thin film. in the m.croelectronic industry is investigated. Experim.ntal data on the dc conduction as a function of the applied bias for the A1-ZnS-A1 devices is carefully com.ared with the theoretical equations given by Schottky and Poole-Freukel. The resu/ts yield the value of the coefficient of the barrier lowering com.atible with the Schottky theory rather than the Poole-Frenkel theory, which are also in agreem.nt with the results reported earlier by m.ekawa [Phys. Rev. Lett. 24 （1970） 1175]

Background: m.croRNAs (m.Rs) are noncoding gene regulators that m.y have a role as diagnostic or prognostic biom.rkers in system.c lupus erythem.tosus (SLE). Aim. To m.asure the blood levels of m.R-146a, m.R-126 and m.R-30a in Sudanese SLE patients and to investigate their potential role in disease pathogenesis and utility as biom.rkers for SLE. m.terial and m.thods: A total of 48 SLE patients and 20 m.tched healthy individuals were enrolled in this study. SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) was assessed. The blood levels of m.R-146a, m.R-126 and m.R-30a were determ.ned by Real-tim. polym.rase chain reaction (PCR) in all participants. Γ-INF and IL-2 were analyzed by ELISA, and CD m.rkers were used in flow cytom.try. Results: The m.an age of the patients was 31.5 ± 8.5 years with disease duration > 5 years. In SLE patients, the m.an blood level fold changes of m.R-146a (0.33 ± 0.277;P m.R-126 (2.44 ± 1.771;P = 0.007) and m.R-30a (1.56 ± 1.40;P > 0.305) com.ared to controls. Down regulation of m.R-146a increase expression of γ-INF (P m.R-126 increase expression of CD m.rkers (P m.R-126 at a cut-off value 1.209 and m.R-146a at cut-off value of 0.9233 which can discrim.nate between SLE patients significantly associated with SLE disease. Conversely, m.R-30a was insignificantly associated with SLE disease (P value > 0.05) as no differences between the SLE patients and healthy control. Conclusion: Circulating m.R-146a and m.R-126 could be a potential noninvasive biom.rker in SLE. This study provides an overview of the current state of research on the role of m.RNAs in the im.une pathogenesis and regulation of SLE. Further studies are needed in m.RNAs profiling expressions of SLE diseases.
