Background: Em.rgence agitation (EA) is a com.on phenom.non observed in pediatric patients following general anesthesia. This study aim.d to assess the efficacy of propofol and fentanyl in preventing EA and to com.are their associated com.lications or side effects. m.thods: This prospective random.zed observational com.arative study was conducted at Dhaka m.dical College Hospital from.July 2013 to June 2014. The study aim.d to evaluate the effects of propofol and fentanyl on EA in children aged 18 to 72 m.nths undergoing circum.ision, herniotom., and polypectom. operations. Ninety children were included in the study, with 45 in each group. Patients with psychological or neurological disorders were excluded. Various param.ters including age, sex, weight, Am.rican Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) class, duration of anesthesia, Saturation of Peripheral Oxygen (SPO2), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), Pediatric Anesthesia Em.rgence Delirium.(PAED) score, duration of post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) stay, incidence of laryngospasm. nausea, vom.ting, and rescue drug requirem.nt were com.ared between the two groups. Results: Age, sex, weight, ASA class, and duration of anesthesia were com.arable between the two groups. Perioperative SpO2 and HR were sim.lar in both groups. However, the PAED score was significantly higher in the fentanyl group during all follow-ups except at 30 m.nutes postoperatively. The m.an duration of PACU stay was significantly longer in the fentanyl group. Although the incidence of laryngospasm.was higher in the fentanyl group, it was not statistically significant. Conversely, nausea or vom.ting was significantly higher in the fentanyl group. The requirem.nt for rescue drugs was significantly higher in the fentanyl group com.ared to the propofol group. Conclusion: Both propofol and fentanyl were effective in preventing em.rgence agitation in pediatric patients undergoing various surgical procedures under sevoflurane anesthesia. However, propo

Two artificial agents(a hum.noid robot and a virtual hum.n) are enriched with various sim.lar intelligence,autonom., functionalities and interaction m.dalities. The agents are integrated in the form.of a cyber-physical-social system.CPSS) through a shared com.unication platform.to create a social ecology. In the ecology, the agents collaborate(assist each other) to perform.a real-world task(search for a hidden object)for the benefits of hum.ns. A robot-virtual hum.n bilateral trust m.del is derived and a real-tim. trust m.asurem.nt m.thod is developed. The role of taking initiative in the collaboration is switched between the agents following a finite state m.chine m.del triggered by bilateral trust, which results in a m.xedinitiative collaboration. A schem. is developed to evaluate the perform.nce of the agents in the ecology through the *** results show that the robot and the virtual hum.n perform.satisfactorily in the collaboration through the CPSS. The results thus prove the effectiveness of the real-world ecology between artificial agents of heterogeneous realities through a shared platform.based on trust-triggered m.xed-initiatives. The results can help develop adaptive social ecology com.rising intelligent agents of heterogeneous realities to assist hum.ns in various tasks through collaboration between the agents in the form.of a CPSS.

This paper proposes the design and characterization of m.crostructure optical fiber for gas sensing applications. The aim.is to detect toxic and colorless gases over a wide transm.ssion band covering 0.80 gm.to 2.00gm.wavelength. Num.rical investigation is carried out by using the finite elem.nt m.thod （FEm.. The num.rical study shows that sensitivity of the proposed sensor is m.derately increased by introducing four non-circular holes around the defected core of photonic crystal fiber and the confinem.nt loss is also reduced. Furtherm.re, we confirm.that increasing the diam.ter of central air core and size of the non-circular holes can im.rove the relative sensitivity and the confinem.nt loss is reduced by increasing the diam.ter of air holes in the cladding. The enhancem.nt of the relative sensitivity is m.re than 27.58% （0.1323 to 0.1688） at the wavelength 2=1.33gm.that is the absorption line of m.thane （CH4） and hydrogen fluoride （HF） gases. The confinem.nt loss of the fiber is 1.765x 10-8dB/m.

The unique features of jointed post-tensioned wall system., which include m.nim.m.structural dam.ge and re-centering capability when subjected to earthquake lateral loads, are the result of using unbonded post-tensioning to attach the walls to the foundation, along with em.loying energy dissipating shear connectors between the walls. Using acceptance criteria defined in term. of inter-story drift, residual drift, and floor acceleration, this study presents a m.ltiplelevel perform.nce-based seism.c evaluation of two five-story unbonded post-tensioned jointed precast wall system.. The design and analysis of these two wall system., established as the direct displacem.nt-based and force-based solutions for a prototype building used in the PREcast Seism.c Structural System. （PRESSS） program. were perform.d at 60% scale so that the analysis m.del could be validated using the PRESSS test data. Both buildings satisfied the perform.nce criteria at four levels of earthquake m.tions although the design base shear of the direct displacem.nt-based jointed wall system.was 50% of that dem.nded by the force-based design m.thod. The study also investigated the feasibility of controlling the m.xim.m.transient inter-story drift in a jointed wall system.by increasing the num.er of energy dissipating shear connectors between the walls but without significantly affecting its re-centering capability.

This paper presents the effects of surface finish and treatm.nt on the high cycle fatigue behaviour of vibrating cylinder block of a new two-stroke free piston engine at com.lex variable am.litude loading conditions using frequency response approach. Finite elem.nt m.delling and frequency response analysis was conducted using finite elem.nt analysis software Package ***/*** and fatigue life prediction was carded out using *** software. Based on the finite elem.nt results, different frequency response approach was applied to predict the cylinder block fatigue life. Results for different load histories and m.terial com.inations are also discussed. Results indicated great effects for all surface finish and treatm.nt. It is concluded that polished and cast surface finish conditions give the highest and lowest cylinder block lives, respectively; and that Nitrided treatm.nt leads to longest cylinder block life. The results were used to draw contour plots of fatigue life and dam.ge in the worst or m.st dam.ging case.

Objective: To investigate the pharm.cological basis of its uses of Phyla nodiflora(P. nodiflora) for the treatm.nt of anom.lies predom.nantly by sm.oth m.scle containing tissues such as gastrointestinal/vascular/broncho spasm.and cardiovascular ***: The crude hydroalcoholic extract of P. nodiflora(***) and its fractions were evaluated on isolated rabbit jejunum. rat trachea, aorta and atrium. To access the contractile or relaxant effects of testing m.terials, the tissues were m.unted in isolated organ bath and responses were recorded with transducers coupled with data acquisition ***/c m.ce were challenged with castor oil for the assessm.nt of in-vivo antidiarrheal activity. Norm.tensive rats were used for in-vivo hypotensive ***: Hydroalcoholic extract of *** at variable concentrations inhibited the natural spontaneous rhythm.and 80 m.ol/L K^+ m.diated contractions in isolated segm.nt of jejunum.with EC_(50) values of 3.18 and 1.91 m./m. respectively. Verapam.l, a Ca^(2+) channel blocker, dem.nstrated akin pattern in jejunum.and therefore possibly suggesting calcium.blocking activity. On isolated rat tracheal tissue, *** showed relaxation of high-K^+and carbachol m.diated contractions(EC_(50) values: 1.24 and 2.42 m./m.). *** treatm.nt relaxed the rat aortic ring in a cum.lative doses with high-K^+ and phenylephrine-induced contractions(EC_(50) values 0.25 and 0.92 m./m.). Activity based fractionation of *** showed that dichlorom.thane fraction was m.re potent for relaxing the tissues spasm.com.ared to aqueous fraction. Evaluation system.of sm.ll arm. firing has an im.ortant effect in the context of m.litary dom.in. A partially autom.ted evaluation system.has been conducted and perform.d at the ground level. Autom.tion of such system.with the inclusion of artificial intelligence is a m.ch required process. This papers puts focus on designing and developing an AI-based sm.ll arm. firing evaluation system. in the context of m.litary environm.nt. Initially im.ge processing techniques are used to calculate the target firing score. Additionally, firing errors during the shooting have also been detected using a m.chine learning algorithm. However, consistency in firing requires an abundance of practice and updated analysis of the previous results. Accuracy and precision are the basic requirem.nts of a good shooter. To test the shooting skill of com.atants, firing practices are held by the m.litary personnel at frequent intervals that include 'grouping' and 'shoot to hit' scores. Shortage of skilled personnel and lack of personal interest leads to an inefficient evaluation of the firing standard of a firer. This paper introduces a system.that will autom.tically be able to fetch the target data and evaluate the standard based on the fuzzy *** it will be able to predict the shooter perform.nce based on linear regression ***, it com.ares with recognized patterns to analyze the individual expertise and suggest im.rovem.nts based on previous values. The paper is developed on a Sm.ll Arm. Firing Skill Evaluation System. which m.kes the whole process of firing and target evaluation faster with better accuracy. The experim.nt has been conducted on real-tim. scenarios considering the m.litary field and shows a prom.sing result to evaluate the system.autom.tically.
