This pa.er ha. been m.tiva.ed by the following biologica. question: how influentia. m. desert uerosols in the tra.sm.ssion of m.ningitidis serogroup a.(m.na.? a.m.them.tica. m.del for the dyna.0}ca. tra.sm.ssion of m.na.is considered,with the a.m.of investiga.ing the im.a.t of desert *** a.a.ysis of the m.del ha. been perform.d in order to determ.ne the im.a.t of rela.ed pa.a.0}ters on m.ningitis *** derive the ba.ic reproduction num.er *** prove tha. there exists a.threshold pa.a.0}ter ζ such tha. when R0 a.e-free equilibrium.is globa.ly a.ym.totica.ly sta.le (Ga.).However,when ζm.del exhibits the phenom.non of ba.kwa.d *** the endem.c level,we show tha. the num.er of infectious individua.s in the presence of desert a.rosols is la.ger tha. the correspond-ing num.er without the presence of desert *** conjunction with the inequa.ity R0^0a.ic reproduction num.er without desert a.rosols,we found tha. the ingestion of a.rosols by ca.riers will increa.e the endem.c level,a.d the severity of the *** suggests tha. the control of m.na.pa.ses through a.com.ina.ion of a.la.ge covera.e va.cina.ion of young susceptible individua.s a.d the production of a.va.cine with a.high level of effica.y a. well a. respecting the hygienic rules to a.oid the inha.a.ion of desert *** results a.e supported by num.rica. sim.la.ions.
