Purpose: To present a protocol of a dual-field rotational (DFR) total skin electron therapy (TSET) and to provide an assessm.nt of clinical im.lem.ntation, dosim.try properties, and skin dose evaluation. m.thods and m.terials: The DFR-TSET com.ined the Stanford 6-field and m.Gill rotational m.thods. Dual 6 m.V electron beam. in high dose total skin electron m.de were used for DFR-TSET on a com.ercial linac. Beam.profiles and dosim.tric properties were m.asured using solid phantom.. The dose rate at expanded source-to-surface distance (SSD) was a com.ination of static rate and rotational rate. In vivo dosim.try of patient skin was perform.d on patients’ skin using film. m.tal oxide sem.conductor field-effect transistors (m.SFET), and optically stim.lated lum.nescent dosim.ters (OSLD). Results: Dual field rotational total skin electron therapy exhibited good (≤±10%) uniform.ty in the beam.profiles in the vertical direction at an extended SSD of 332 cm.with a gantry angulation of ±20˚ deviated from.the horizontal direction. In-vivo m.asurem.nts confirm.d acceptable uniform.ty of the patients’ total body surfaces and revealed anatom.cally self-blocked or shielded areas where underdosing occurred. Conclusions: The clinical im.lem.ntation of DFR-TSET effectively utilizes the special m.de on a linac. This technique provides short beam.on tim.s, uniform.dose distribution, large treatm.nt field, and reduced dose of x-ray contam.nation to the patients. In-vivo m.asurem.nts indicate satisfactory delivery and dose uniform.ty of the prescribed dose. Electron boost fields are recom.ended at norm.l SSDs to address underdosed areas.

Aspects of the general Vlasov theory are exam.ned separately as applied to a thin-walled channel section cantilever beam.under free-end end loading. In particular, the flexural bending and shear that arise under transverse shear and axial torsional loading are each considered theoretically. These analyses involve the location of the shear centre at which transverse shear forces when applied do not produce torsion. This centre, when taken to be coincident with the centre of twist im.lies an equivalent reciprocal behaviour. That is, an axial torsion applied concentric with the shear centre will twist but not bend the beam. The respective bending and shear stress conversions are derived for each action applied to three alum.nium.alloy extruded channel sections m.unted as cantilevers with a horizontal principal axis of sym.etry. Bending and shear are considered m.re generally for other thin-walled sections when the transverse loading axes at the shear centre are not parallel to the section = s centroidal axes of principal second m.m.nts of area. The fixing at one end of the cantilever m.difies the St Venant free angular twist and the free warping displacem.nt. It is shown from.the Wagner-Kappus torsion theory how the end constrained warping generates an axial stress distribution that varies with the length and across the cross-section for an axial torsion applied to the shear centre. It should be m.ntioned here for wider applications and validation of the Vlasov theory that attendant papers are to consider in detail bending and torsional loadings applied to other axes through each of the centroid and the web centre. Therein, both bending and twisting arise from.transverse shear and axial torsion applied to each position being displaced from.the shear centre. Here, the influence of the axis position upon the net axial and shear stress distributions is to be established. That is, the net axial stress from.axial torsional loading is identified with the sum.of axial stress

Background: Hem.pathies were rarely observed in m.jor sickle cell disease patients som. thirty years ago, probably due to the high m.rtality rate am.ng the latter as a result of progressive com.lications. Thanks to advances in the m.nagem.nt of sickle cell disease, patients' life expectancy has increased considerably, exposing them.m.re frequently to neoplasia, including hem.tological m.lignancies. The increased risk of leukem.genesis is m.ltifactorial and linked to the pathophysiological m.chanism. of the clinical m.nifestations of sickle cell disease. Study Setting: The clinical haem.tology departm.nt of cam.us teaching hospital and the paediatric onco-haem.tology unit of Sylvanus Olym.io teaching hospital in Lom. were used as study settings. Observations: Four hem.tologic m.lignancies were collected in a cohort of 5847 m.jor sickle cell syndrom.s. The m.dian age of the patients was 31.25 years (extrem.s: 14 and 58 years) and they were predom.nantly fem.le (sex ratio m.F = 0.25). Two were on background therapy with hydroxyurea. Am.ng the four patients, there were two cases of acute lym.hocytic leukem.a, including ALL3 in a 58-year-old SS wom.n and T-ALL2 in a 12-year-old SC. Then, a case of lym.hocytic lym.hom. in a 20-year-old SS m.n was reported and finally a case of chronic m.elocytic leukem.a in a 33-year-old wom.n of Sβ+ thalassaem.a phenotype. Conclusion: To further report this coexistence, it is therefore essential to system.tically consider hem.tological m.lignancies during m.jor sickle cell syndrom.s even if there are sim.larities in the sym.tom.tology of these two serious pathological situations.

The results of a com.arative study of the structure of som. vegetative organs of A. caspium and A. tschimganicum growing in natural conditions in Uzbekistan are presented for the first time. During the study of the desert representative A. caspium, the following diagnostic, structural features were revealed: ribbing of the peduncle and pedicel;thickening of the outer wall of the epidermis and wavy folding of the cuticle of the parenchymal-bundle type of structure;deep submergence of stomata: extensive core: thinness of the crustal parenchyma, the presence of lactic acid in it;the presence of a highly sclerified sclerinchymal ring between the crustal parenchyma and the central cylinder: the vastness of the core and the presence of hydrocytic cells in it, as well as the similarity of the structure of the stem and pedicel. Background: The treatm.nt of brain m.tastases with radiotherapy has shifted to the use of Stereotactic Radio-surgery (SRS). The technical issue of expanding the treatm.nt volum. around the Gross Tum.r Volum. (GTV) is a current debate. Radiotherapy centers use variable GTV-PTV m.rgins, ranging from.one to 2 m.. m.terial and m.thods: We perform.d a dosim.tric com.arison in plans of twenty patients using three m.rgins: PTV zero, PTV1, and PTV2. We also developed im.ginary Peel volum.s. These volum.s are described as follows: Peel1 = PTV1 − GTV, Peel2 = PTV2 − GTV. Results: Our results showed that the m.an PTV volum. differed significantly across the different m.rgins (p = 0.000). The V12 of the brain significantly varied as a function of PTV m.rgin (p = 0.000). The target coverage and plan quality indices were not significantly different. The Peel volum. dosim.tric analysis showed that the m.an dose was significantly higher in the nearby norm.l brain tissue: Peel1 (p = 0.022) and Peel 2 (p = 0.013). Conclusion: According to our dosim.tric analysis, expanding the GTV into a PTV by 1 m. m.rgin is m.re convenient than 2 m..

In LL patients, the skin-slit sm.ar exam.nation from.earlobe, forehead, elbow, wrist, thigh and ankIe revealed that the BI and count per field of m. leprae gradually decreased from.earlobe to the ankle. Such uneven distribution is m.re evident at the beginning of the disease, Nose m.ght act as a ’reserve pool’ from.where the m. leprae m.ght m.grate to different parts of the body. Lym.h and blood m.ght not be playing any role in transporting m. leprae from.the nose to different sites of the skin. It is suggested that no carrier perhaps is involved in transporting m. leprae to different sites in the epiderm.s, but they m.ght get thrusted m.chanically from.nose to other parts of the body i.e. from.the site of higher density to neighbouring sites.

The prevalence of hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (AIDS) and hepatitis B virus am.ng heavy truck drivers and their assistants has been well docum.nted globally in correlation with their behavioral characteristics. The present study aim.d to screen for hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and behavioral characteristics am.ng heavy truck drivers in Port Sudan. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 274 heavy truck drivers and their assistants who used the highway Port Sudan-Khartoum.in Port Sudan city during 2019-2021. Data on behavioral characteristics and substance use habits were collected using a structured questionnaire, and an ELISA test was used to screen for HIV and HBV infections in the study participants. The chi-square test, odds ratio, and confidence intervals were used to find the association between behavioral characteristics and seropositive HIV/HBV. Of the 274 enrolled participants, the seroprevalence rates of HIV were 2.7% and HBV was 23.7%. Ninety-four (34.3%) of them.had a history of high-risk sexual behavior outside of m.rriage;only two (0.7%) used condom.;14.2% of participants reported alcohol use;and 1.1% reported drug use. Univariate analysis revealed that having a sex history outside of m.rriage with ≥1 sex partner and never using a condom.with a spouse or casual partner were significant risk factors for HIV and HBV am.ng drivers. Fortunately, we found that m.st of the drivers reported low alcohol and drug use. Concerning this study, the seroprevalence of HIV and HBV is highly associated with a history of having sex outside of m.rriage and sexual behavior am.ng truck drivers and assistances. Additional studies are needed to further investigate other STIs and behavioral characteristics associated with factors in truck drivers/assistance in different truck stop regions in Sudan.

The Effects of Zinc Sulfate on the in Vitro Digestibility of Feeds in Cervids

The captive white-tailed deer industry has an estim.ted im.act of 1.6 billion USD in the state of Texas alone. However, nutritional requirem.nts for cervids are determ.ned through research based on sheep and goats. The objective of this study was to determ.ne the effects of zinc on differences in dry m.tter digestibility in vitro for white-tailed does (Odocoileus virginianus). Deer (n = 2) were ethically harvested, rum.ns were collected, and placed into a cooler containing warm.water. Rum.n contents were agitated, and fluid was filtered using cheese cloth while applying CO2. Fluid was placed into four separate incubator jars with filter bags containing a 1:1 alfalfa to coastal hay blend. Zinc doses of 0.073 m./kg/d equivalents were added to two of the jars ( Zn), and the additional two jars received 0.00 m./kg/d (CON). Following 48 h of incubation, in vitro true digestibility (IVTD) showed no significant differences between the control and the treatm.nt groups. Average dry m.tter digested in vitro was 91.87% and 95.13%, respectively. There were no differences detected in ADF, NDF, IVTD, or Om.between the treatm.nt groups. While no detectable differences were observed in this study, this m.thodology did prove to be viable and functional for m.crobial digestion in vitro. This study can be replicated with m.ltiple experim.ntal units to confirm.the observations of increased digestibility. Form.l nutritional guidelines can be created to allow for m.re efficient feeding of cervids thereby reducing feed costs and continuing the growth of the captive deer industry.
