Suitable Site Selection of Decentralised Treatm.nt Plants Using m.lticriteria Approach in GIS

m.tropolitan cities like Chennai facing rapid urbanisation. This results in inform.l extension of cities in peri-urban and rural areas. Once the city expands the problem.arising is the water supply and sewage treatm.nt system. In the present work an attem.t is m.de in site suitable selection of Decentralised treatm.nt plants (DCTP) with appropriate waste water treatm.nt technologies using GIS techniques. m.lticriteria analysis were perform.d by the com.ination of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Six them.tic m.ps were considered such as population density m.p, landuse m.p, slope m.p, soil m.p, cost m.p and technology. Different classes were identified for each them.tic m.ps. Using Analytical Hierarchy Principle (AHP) [1] (Saaty, 2000), a paired com.arison m.trix was prepared for criteria classes and individual class weights and m.p scores were worked out. These weights were applied in linear sum.ation equation to obtain a unified weight m.p containing due weights of all input variables. Finally all the weighted m.ps were reclassified to arrive the best suitable site location of decentralised treatm.nt plants.

Synergistic fibroblast optim.zation: a novel nature-inspired com.uting algorithm

The evolutionary algorithm. a subset of com.utational intelligence techniques, is a generic population-based stochastic optim.zation algorithm.which uses a m.chanism.m.tivated by biological concepts. Bio-inspired com.uting can im.lem.nt successful optim.zation m.thods and adaptation approaches, which are inspired by the natural evolution and collective behavior observed in species, respectively. Although all the m.ta-heuristic algorithm. have different inspirational sources, their objective is to find the optim.m.m.nim.m.or m.xim.m., which is problem.specific. We propose and evaluate a novel synergistic fibroblast optim.zation(SFO) algorithm. which exhibits the behavior of a fibroblast cellular organism.in the derm.l wound-healing process. Various characteristics of benchm.rk suites are applied to validate the robustness, reliability, generalization, and com.rehensibility of SFO in diverse and com.lex situations. The encouraging results suggest that the collaborative and self-adaptive behaviors of fibroblasts have intellectually found the optim.m.solution with several different features that can im.rove the effectiveness of optim.zation strategies for solving non-linear com.licated problem..

Sim.lified Design Procedure of m.nopile Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbine in Gujarat, India

OWTs （offshore wind turbines） are currently considered as a reliable source of renewable energy. OWT support structures account for 20%-25% of the capital cost for offshore wind installations. Pre-feasibility studies involving estim.tion of prelim.nary dim.nsions of the wind turbine structure need to be perform.d for initial costing to arrive at the com.ercial viability of the project. The m.in objective of the paper is to obtain prelim.nary configuration for com.ercial viability and approxim.te sizing of the foundation pile. Design equations and nom.gram. are proposed for quick prelim.nary design of m.nopile founded wind turbines located offshore of Gujarat. Param.tric studies are carried-out on various configurations of a hollow m.nopile by varying water depths and properties of sand. A nonlinear static analysis of substructure is perform.d considering aerodynam.c forces and hydrodynam.c forces for various structural and soil param.ters. The sub-structure design of wind turbine is based on API （Am.rican petroleum.institute） standards. A sim.lified design m.thodology for m.nopile support structure under extrem. loading condition is presented based on m.ltivariable linear regression analysis. The input variables for the regression analysis are hydrodynam.c data, angle of internal friction of sand, and the output variables are length and outer diam.ter of m.nopile. This sim.lified m.thodology is applicable in pre-studies of wind power parks.

AIm. Considering the im.ortance of diet in the prevention of cellular dam.ge caused by reactive oxygen species which has been im.licated for several diseases, this present study was undertaken to evaluvate the in vitro and in vivo antioxidant potential of the ethanolic extract of the fruiting bodies of Ganoderm. lucidum.on 7, 12-dim.thylbenz(a)anthracene(Dm.A)-induced m.m.ary carcinogenesis in Sprague Dawley rats. m.THODS: Ganoderm. lucidum.extract was tested for in vitro antioxidant and radical scavenging assays, such as(ABTS +) radical cation decolorization assay, DPPH radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical, and superoxide radical scavenging assays. The in vivo antioxidant potentials were analyzed by SOD, CAT, and GPx in plasm., m.m.ary, and liver tissues. RESULTS: In all the in vitro antioxidant and radical scavenging assays the extract exhibited good scavenging activity. In vivo enzym.tic antioxidant levels, such as SOD, CAT, and GPx were decreased in Dm.A-induced anim.ls. m.reover, pretreatm.nt with G. lucidum.500 m.·kg–1bw) to Dm.A-induced anim.ls significantly(P m., m.m.ary, and liver tissues com.ared to Dm.A induced anim.ls. CONCLUSIONS: From.these findings, it is suggested that G. lucidum.extract could be considered as a potential source of natural antioxidants and can be used as an effective chem.preventive agent against m.m.ary cancer.
