Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate intra- and inter-observer reproducibility of sinus x-rays in comparison to sinus computed tomography (CT) in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients. methods: This was a prospective controlled study for which 14 adult CRS patients were recruited. Patients underwent a sinus multi-detector CT scan as well as additional sinus x-rays at the same time. Symptom interview and skin prick tests were performed. Lund-mackay (Lm) scores and 43 other findings in paranasal sinuses were analyzed by three blinded observers from CT-scans and x-rays. We compared agreement between sinus CT and x-rays (intra-observer reproducibility) and between three observers (inter-observer reproducibility) by Cohen’s kappa. Results: In at least 90% of the cases, the status of 47/49 structures was detectable in CT scans, whereas the status of only 8/49 structures was detectable in x-rays. The majority of the 25 visualized structures had poor intra-observer and inter-observer reproducibility. Conclusion: Only a few structures can be visualized in paranasal sinus x-rays and compared to paranasal sinus CT-scans, their reproducibility is poor. Our results strongly support the current consensus of radiation dose reduction by limiting the number of x-rays.

Due to ease of application, cost effectiveness and environmentally safe, in this study, the corrosion inhibition effect of aqueous extract of Eclipta alba in 1N hydrochloric acid has been investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and impedance methods and the extracts of Eclipta alba were found to be effective corrosion pickling inhibitor. The effect of immersion time and temperature revealed that the extracts of Eclipta alba with an optimum concentration of 8.0% v/v showed maximum inhibition efficiency of 99.6% at 3 h immersion time and 30℃. Arrhenius plots for mild steel immersed in 1N hCl solution in the absence and presence of optimum concentration （8.0% in v/v） of Eclipta alba extract showed the effect of temperature. Polarization studies indicate that this plant extract acts as a mixed type inhibitor. The adsorption of Eclipta alba follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The inhibition action may be due to the presence of the Wedelactone and also the alkaloid Ecliptine present in the leaves of Eclipta alba.

Geophysical prospecting is commonly used in solving engineering problems because of time saving,low cost and ***,among the other geophysical methods,the correlation between 2-D electrical imaging method and self potential method is rarely *** main objective of this study is to investigate the presence of saturated zone which causes several engineering problems in the area and leads to some damages such as soil settlements,piping effect and *** resistivity survey lines and two sites for self potential method were carefully chosen to cover the entire study *** resistivity results show the subsurface consist of saturated zones with depth of 5 to 20 m,and SP results shows water flowing towards different *** conclusion,correlation of two electrical imaging methods （active and passive） can be used in solving engineering problems as well.

Natural radioactivity radionuclides in building materials, such as^(226)Ra,^(232)Th and^(40)k, cause indoor exposure due to their gamma-rays. In this research, in a standard dwelling room(5.0 m 9 4.0 m 9 2.8 m), with the floor covered by various granite stones, was set up to simulate the dose rates from the radionuclides using mCNP4 C code. Using samples of granite building products in Iran, activities of the^(226)Ra,^(232)Th and^(40)k were measured at 3.8–94.2, 6.5–172.2 and 556.9–1529.2 Bq kg^(-1),respectively. The simulated dose rates were26.31–184.36 n Gy h^(-1), while the measured dose rates were 27.70–204.17 n Gy h^(-1). With the results in good agreement, the simulation is suitable for any kind of dwelling places.

Polycrystalline xBa0.95Sr0.05TiO3-(1 - x)BiFe0.90Gd0.10O3 ceramics were prepared by standard solid state reaction technique using the solid solution of BaCO3, SrCO3, TiO2, Bi2O3, Fe2O3 and Gd2O3. The compound is a BiFeO3 based multiferroic material which contains both magnetic and electric properties. The synthesized ceramics noticed better properties than xBaTiO3-(1 - x)BiFeO3 because of adding rare earth element Gd which have higher magnetic moment than Fe. The prepared samples were sintered at 900˚C, 950˚C and 1000˚C for 1 h. The effect of sintering temperature on density of the compound, complex initial permeability, dielectric properties and complex impedance analysis was reported in this article. Density of the ceramics was found to be enhanced with the rise in sintering temperature which implied porosity of the compound decreased when sintering temperature was increased. Enhanced complex initial permeability was noticed for the samples up to 950˚C and this might be attributed to reducing the motion of domain wall when the ceramics were sintered above 950˚C.
