Functional activity of the rectum:A conduit organ or a storage organ or both?

AIm： To investigate whether the degree of rectal distension could define the rectum functions as a conduit mETHODS： Response of the rectal and anal pressure to 2 types of rectal balloon distension, rapid voluminous and slow gradual distention, was recorded in 21 healthy volunteers （12 men, 9 women, age 41.7 ± 10.6 years）. The test was repeated with sphincteric squeeze on urgent sensation. RESULTS： Rapid voluminous rectal distension resulted in a significant rectal pressure increase （P 〈 0.001）, an anal pressure decline （P 〈 0.05） and balloon expulsion. The subjects felt urgent sensation but did not feel the 1^st rectal sensation. On urgent sensation, anal squeeze caused a significant rectal pressure decrease （P 〈 0.001） and urgency disappearance. Slow incremental rectal filling drew a rectometrogram with a ＂tone＂ limb representing a gradual rectal pressure increase during rectal filling, and an ＂evacuation limb＂ representing a sharp pressure increase during balloon expulsion. The curve recorded both the ist rectal sensation and the urgent sensation. CONCLUSION： The rectum has apparently two functions： transportation （conduit） and storage, both depending on the degree of rectal filling. If the fecal material received by the rectum is small, it is stored in the rectum until a big volume is reached that can affect a degree of rectal distension sufficient to initiate the defecation reflex. Large volume rectal distension evokes directly the rectoanal inhibitory reflex with a resulting defecation.

magnesium hydride(mgH_(2))is the most feasible and effective solid-state hydrogen storage material,which has excellent reversibility but initiates decomposing at high temperatures and has slow kinetics ***,zinc titanate(Zn_(2)TiO_(4))synthesised by the solid-state method was used as an additive to lower the initial temperature for dehydrogenation and enhance the re/dehydrogenation behaviour of mgH_(2).With the presence of Zn_(2)TiO_(4),the starting temperature for the dehydrogenation of mgH_(2)was remarkably lowered to around 290℃–305℃.In addition,within 300 s,the mgH_(2)–Zn_(2)TiO_(4)sample absorbed 5.0 wt.%of H_(2)and 2.2–3.6 wt.%H_(2)was liberated from the composite sample in 30 min,which is faster by 22–36 times than as-milled mgH_(2).The activation energy of the mgH_(2)for the dehydrogenation process was also downshifted to 105.5 k J/mol with the addition of Zn_(2)TiO_(4)indicating a decrease of 22%than as-milled mgH_(2).The superior behaviour of mgH_(2)was due to the formation of mg Zn_(2),mgO and mgTiO_(3),which are responsible for ameliorating the re/dehydrogenation behaviour of mgH_(2).These findings provide a new understanding of the hydrogen storage behaviour of the catalysed-mgH_(2)system.

Developing successful software with no defects is one of the main goals of software *** order to provide a software project with the anticipated software quality,the prediction of software defects plays a vital *** learning,and particularly deep learning,have been advocated for predicting software defects,however both suffer from inadequate accuracy,overfitting,and complicated *** this paper,we aim to address such issues in predicting software *** propose a novel structure of 1-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network(1D-CNN),a deep learning architecture to extract useful knowledge,identifying and modelling the knowledge in the data sequence,reduce overfitting,and finally,predict whether the units of code are defects *** design large-scale empirical studies to reveal the proposed model’s effectiveness by comparing four established traditional machine learning baseline models and four state-of-the-art baselines in software defect prediction based on the NASA *** experimental results demonstrate that in terms of f-measure,an optimal and modest 1DCNN with a dropout layer outperforms baseline and state-of-the-art models by 66.79%and 23.88%,respectively,in ways that minimize overfitting and improving prediction performance for software *** to the results,1D-CNN seems to be successful in predicting software defects and may be applied and adopted for a practical problem in software ***,in turn,could lead to saving software development resources and producing more reliable software.

Probes are the interface between microsystems and *** ideal interface is one-to-one *** various research groups have been able to establish some sort of interfaces after many years of research,they are very *** are millions in numbers,whereas the prostheses successfully built so far have only a few hundred probes at *** an ef- fective interface is still far *** we have micro-and nano-technologies,we couldn't build a prosthesis with an effective *** reasons behind it are the type of probe being used and the poor design of the *** address this problem,we developed a methodology to design a probe and an array of probes with better resolution and less resistive donut *** methodology helps us to design a probe optimizing all the *** presented our methodology through a design that is capable of 70 μm penetration inside the *** tissue heating by our designed probe is only 0.411 °*** also characterized the donut probe,which could be used by any research group to design a donut probe of their specific need.

Novel Sources of aus Rice for Zinc Deficiency Tolerance Identified Through Association Analysis Using High-Density SNP Array

Zinc （Zn） deficiency is a major soil constraint limiting rice crop growth and yield, yet the genetic control of tolerance mechanisms is still poorly understood. Here, we presented promising loci and candidate genes conferring tolerance to Zn deficiency and identified through association analysis using a 365 K single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） marker array in a diverse aus （semi-wild type rice） panel. Tolerant accessions exhibited higher growth rate with relatively rare stress symptoms. Two loci on chromosomes 7 and 9 were strongly associated with plant vigor under Zn deficiency at a peak-stress stage. Based on previous microarray data from the same experimental plots, we highlighted four candidate genes whose expressions were accompanied by significant genotype and/or environment effects under Zn deficiency. Network-gene ontology supported known tolerance mechanisms, such as ascorbic acid pathway, and also suggested the importance of photosynthesis genes to overcome Zn deficiency symptoms.

melting and second order slip effect on convective flow of nanofluid past a radiating stretching/shrinking sheet

A mathematical model is presented for forced convective slip flow of a nanofluid past a radiating stretching/shrinking *** boundary condition is taken into *** nanofluid model involves the Brownian motion and thermophoresis *** group transformation is used to the transport equations as well as the boundary conditions to develop the similarity equations,before being solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fourth-fifth order numerical *** show the effects of the controlling parameters on the dimensionless velocity,temperature,nanoparticle volume fraction,skin friction factor,local Nusselt,and local Sherwood numbers,numerical results are presented both in graphical and tabular *** is found that the friction factor decreases with slip and melting parameters for both stretching/shrinking *** is also found that the Nusselt number decreases with the first order slip while it increases with melting and radiation parameters in both ***,the Sherwood number decreases with the melting parameter both for radiating and non-radiating stretching/shrinking *** excellent agreement is found between the present numerical results and published results.

Well crystalline gadolinium oxide（Gd2O3） nanostructures were grown by annealing the hydrothermally as-prepared nanostructures without using any template. microscopic studies of Gd2O3 nanostructures were recorded along the [111] direction due to the clearly resolved interplanar distance d（222）-0.31 nm of the cubic crystal structure Gd2O3. Sensing mechanism of Gd2O3 as efficient electron mediator for the detection of ethanol was explored. As-fabricated sensor demonstrated the high-sensitivity of -0.266 μAm/m/cm2 with low detection limit（-52.2 μmol/L） and correlation coefficient（r^2, 0.618）. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first report for the detection of ethanol using as-grown（at 1000 oC） Gd2O3 nanostructures by simple and reliable Ⅰ-Ⅴ technique and rapid assessment of the reaction kinetics（in the order of seconds）. The low cost of the starting reagents and the simplicity of the synthetic route made it a promising chemical sensor for the detection of various toxic analytes, which are not environmentally safe.

The present study aims to integrate a large set of geological and geophysical data into a comprehensive model describing the depositional features of the Abu madi/El Qar'a/khilala gas *** model is based on the sequence stratigraphic framework of the Abu madi Formation defined using cores,well logs,and time-migrated seismic *** trace attribute sections and relative acoustic impedance sections are also used.A possible depositional pattern for the main Level Ill is established,based on the lithological and petrophysical information derived from the seismic data *** Abu madi For-mation can be regarded as a depositional sequence recording the progressive drowning of the incised *** sequence is bounded at the base by an erosional unconformity,created by a drop in the level of the Late messinian Sea,and at the top by a drowning unconformity related to the Early Pliocene *** bottom of Level II divides the Abu madi sequence into two smaller *** both sequences,gas-bearing traps can be found in the Lowstand Systems Tracts,represented by the fluvial Level Ill and fluvial-deltaic Level Il,respectively.

ON THE WEIGHTED VARIABLE EXPONENT AmALGAm SPACE W(L^(p(x)), L_m^q)

In [4], a new family W（L^p（x）, Lm^q） of Wiener amalgam spaces was defined and investigated some properties of these spaces, where local component is a variable exponent Lebesgue space L^p（x）（R） and the global component is a weighted Lebesgue space Lm^q （R）. This present paper is a sequel to our work [4]. In Section 2, we discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for the equality W （L^p（x）, Lm^q） = L^q （R）. Later we give some characterization of Wiener amalgam space W （L^p（x）, Lm^q）.In Section 3 we define the Wiener amalgam space W （FL^p（x）, Lm^q） and investigate some properties of this space, where FL^p（x） is the image of L^p（x） under the Fourier transform. In Section 4, we discuss boundedness of the Hardy- Littlewood maximal operator between some Wiener amalgam spaces.
