BACKGROUND Radiation therapy(RT)for nasopharyngeal cancer can cause several *** rare cases,an internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm can occur,which can be *** report the experience of a nasopharyngeal cancer patient who underwent radiation therapy and subsequently developed a fatal pseudoaneurysm of the petrous internal carotid *** SUmmARY A 39-year-old man was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer 2 years ago(American Joint Committee on Cancer Stage T3N2m0)and received concurrent chemoradiation *** subsequently relapsed and received *** week after the 4th cycle of chemotherapy,he was admitted to the emergency room of our hospital because of massive epistaxis accompanied by a headache.A pseudoaneurysm of the petrous internal carotid artery was confirmed by digital subtraction angiography(DSA).Stent-assisted endovascular coil embolization was performed and complete occlusion was *** pseudoaneurysm was observed on DSA after coil embolization;however,intermittent epistaxis was maintained even after coil *** seven days,a diagnostic laryngoscopy was *** bleeding occurred after aspiration of the blood clot during the laryngoscopy and the patient died of hypovolemic *** this case,epistaxis may have been a sign of pseudoaneurysm;therefore,treatment such as embolization should be performed promptly,and careful management should be undertaken after *** This case highlights a rare,serious complication of RT in nasopharyngeal cancer and how it should be recognized and treated.

Background:Forested landscapes are valuable sources of ecosystem services especially in areas dedicated to intense agricultural *** from forest margin is known to influence the wild bee community in the landscape surrounding forested *** little is known regarding how bee communities distribute themselves in landscapes that exhibit different forest successional ***:We examined how land use type and distance from the forest edge affect the abundance and richness of the wild bee community across four forest successional *** were collected in sites representing four stages of forest succession and analyzed using generalized linear mixed models with negative binomial ***:Wild bee diversity is reduced in forested environments that maintain dense stands of trees and high canopy ***,distance from the forest edge was an important factor determining wild bee distribution in successional stages adjacent to forest ***,we found that bees maintain high specificity for distinct successional states and ***:Our results demonstrate how different successional stages can harbor different bee species and highlight the ability of microhabitats to act as reservoirs of bee diversity in and around forest ***,we found that maximizing successional patchiness across forested landscapes increases the amount of available habitat that can support a diverse suite of bees with different nesting biologies and behaviors.

BACKGROUND Retroperitoneal sarcoma(RPS) is a rare malignancy arising from mesenchymal cells that most commonly presents as an abdominal mass and is associated with poor *** several studies have assessed the survival benefits of wide excision,few have reported detailed methods for achieving wide excision in patients with *** To describe our experience with multidisciplinary surgical resection of RPS using intra-and extra-pelvic *** multidisciplinary surgery is an anatomical approach that combines intra-and extra-peritoneal access within the same surgery to achieve complete RPS *** retrospective review of the records of patients who underwent multidisciplinary surgery for RPS analyzed surgical and survival *** Eight patients underwent 10 intra-and extra-pelvic surgical resections,and their median mass size was 12.75 cm(range,6-45.5 cm).Using an intrapelvic approach,laparoscopy-assisted surgery was performed in four cases and laparotomy surgery in *** an extrapelvic approach,ilioinguinal and posterior approaches were used in four cases each,and the prone position and midline skin incision were shared in *** patients’ RPS masses were removed completely,and four achieved R0 resection through intra-and extra-pelvic *** median estimated blood loss was 2000 m L(range,300-20000 m L) and the median hospitalization was 12.6 d(range,9-69 d).Reoperation was needed in two patients(one for wound necrosis and the other for bowel perforation and wound necrosis).The median overall survival rate and median progression-free survival were 64.6 and 13.7 mo,*** RPS is therapeutically challenging because of its location and high risk of ***,intra-and extra-pelvic surgical approaches can improve the macroscopic security of the surgical margin.

BACKGROUND Erythema multiforme(Em)is an extremely rare condition in neonates,and studies suggest its association with certain infections and neonatal vaccinations;however,few specific etiological agents have been ***,a common pathogenic gastrointestinal virus in the neonatal period that is preventable via vaccination,has not been identified as a possible *** report the case of a neonate who was referred for skin lesions presenting as Em,where a meticulous workup identified rotavirus as the sole causative *** SUmmARY A 14-day-old male infant was admitted to our hospital with a 1-day history of skin *** medical history or medication intake was *** for the complaint of skin lesions,the caregivers denied any abnormal *** tests,including routine laboratory evaluations,were performed to identify the cause of skin *** tests for Immunoglobulin m for Toxoplasma,Rubella,Cytomegalovirus,Herpes Simplex Virus,and Epstein-Barr virus viral-capsid antigen were all *** polymerase chain reaction(PCR)tests for respiratory viruses and bacterial pathogens were negative(including the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2).multiple PCR tests for gastrointestinal viruses and bacterial pathogens demonstrated evidence of rotavirus *** growth was reported in the blood and urine *** patient received intravenous fluids for hydration;meanwhile,no other medications were *** lesions improved rapidly without specific treatment,and full recovery was achieved within a *** The possibility of rotavirus,a major cause of pediatric gastrointestinal infections,being a trigger for neonatal Em should be considered.

Electrochemical water splitting has been demonstrated as a promising technology for the renewable generation of green hydrogen from *** the extensive progress in materials science,one particular challenge for further development towards industrial application lies in the rational design and exploitation of efficient and cost-effective materials,especially oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalysts at the *** addition,attempts to replace the OER with other more oxidizable anode reactions are being evaluated as a groundbreaking strategy for generating hydrogen at lower potentials and reducing overall energy costs while producing valuable chemicals *** with Fe/Co/Ni-based compounds,Cu-based materials have not received extensive research attention for electrode designs despite their high conductivity and abundant earth *** this review,combining with the advantages of a three-dimensional network structure of metal foams,we summarize recent progress on Cu foam(CF)-derived materials as efficient electrocatalysts towards pure water electrolysis and hybrid water *** advantages of CF and design strategies to enhance the electrocatalytic activity and operational durability are presented *** design and fabrication strategies are then highlighted and the structure-activity relationship is also ***,we propose challenges and perspectives on self-supported electrodes beyond CF-derived materials.

This study investigates the effects of billet homogenization temperature on the dynamic recrystallization behavior during high-speed extrusion and resultant microstructure and tensile properties of the mg–5Bi–3Al(BA53,wt%)*** billets homogenized at 350 and450℃(350H and 450H billets)are extruded at a high speed of 69 m/*** 350H billet has a relatively smaller grain size and a higher abundance of fine mg3Bi2particles compared to the 450H *** extrusion of the 350H billet,enhanced dynamic recrystallization occurs as a result of its finer grains and abundance of particles,while the growth of recrystallized grains is suppressed by the grain-boundary pinning effect of ***,the extruded 350H material is characterized by smaller grains,relatively greater number of mg3Bi2particles,and a higher internal strain energy than the extruded 450H *** tensile strength of the extruded 350H material is higher than that of the extruded 450H material owing to stronger grain-boundary hardening,particle hardening,and strain hardening *** extruded 350H material also exhibits a higher tensile elongation as its smaller grains inhibit the formation of crack-inducing undesirable twins during *** results from this study demonstrate that a decrease in the homogenization temperature from 450 to 350℃leads to improved strength and ductility in the high-speed-extruded BA53 material.

Active electronics are usually composed of semiconductor and metal electrodes which are connected by multiple vacuum deposition steps and photolithography ***,the presence of interface of dissimilar material between semiconductor and metal electrode makes various problems in electrical contacts and mechanical *** ideal electronics should not have defective interfaces of dissimilar *** this study,we developed a novel method to fabricate active electronic components in a monolithic seamless fashion where both metal and semiconductor can be prepared from the same monolith material without creating a semiconductor-metal interface by reversible selective laser-induced redox(rSLIR)***,rSLIR can control the oxidation state of transition metal(Cu)to yield semiconductors with two different bandgap states(Cu_(2)O and CuO with bandgaps of 2.1 and 1.2 eV,respectively),which may allow multifunctional sensors with multiple bandgaps from the same *** novel method enables the seamless integration of single-phase Cu,Cu_(2)O,and CuO,simultaneously while allowing reversible,selec-tive conversion between oxidation states by simply shining laser ***,we fabricated a flexible monolithic metal-semiconduc-tor-metal multispectral photodetector that can detect multiple *** unique monolithic characteristics of rSLIR process can provide next-generation electronics fabrication method overcoming the limitation of conventional photolithography methods.

In this work,a machine learning(mL)model was created to predict intrinsic hardness of various compounds using their crystal *** this purpose,an initial dataset,containing the hardness values of 270 compounds and counterpart applied loads,was employed in the learning *** on various features generated using crystal information,an mL model,with a high accuracy(R^(2)=0.942),was built using extreme gradient boosting(XGB)*** validations conducted by hardness measurements of various compounds,including mSi_(2)(m=Nb,Ce,V,and Ta),Al_(2)O_(3),and FeB_(4),showed that the XGB model was able to reproduce load-dependent hardness behaviors of these *** addition,this model was also used to predict the behavior based on prototype crystal structures that are randomly substituted with elements.
