Synergistic fibroblast optimization: a novel nature-inspired computing algorithm

The evolutionary algorithm, a subset of computational intelligence techniques, is a generic population-based stochastic optimization algorithm which uses a mechanism motivated by biological concepts. Bio-inspired computing can implement successful optimization methods and adaptation approaches, which are inspired by the natural evolution and collective behavior observed in species, respectively. Although all the meta-heuristic algorithms have different inspirational sources, their objective is to find the optimum(minimum or maximum), which is problem-specific. We propose and evaluate a novel synergistic fibroblast optimization(SFO) algorithm, which exhibits the behavior of a fibroblast cellular organism in the dermal wound-healing process. Various characteristics of benchmark suites are applied to validate the robustness, reliability, generalization, and comprehensibility of SFO in diverse and complex situations. The encouraging results suggest that the collaborative and self-adaptive behaviors of fibroblasts have intellectually found the optimum solution with several different features that can improve the effectiveness of optimization strategies for solving non-linear complicated problems.

Suitable Site Selection of Decentralised Treatment Plants Using multicriteria Approach in GIS

metropolitan cities like Chennai facing rapid urbanisation. This results in informal extension of cities in peri-urban and rural areas. Once the city expands the problem arising is the water supply and sewage treatment system. In the present work an attempt is made in site suitable selection of Decentralised treatment plants (DCTP) with appropriate waste water treatment technologies using GIS techniques. multicriteria analysis were performed by the combination of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Six thematic maps were considered such as population density map, landuse map, slope map, soil map, cost map and technology. Different classes were identified for each thematic maps. Using Analytical Hierarchy Principle (AHP) [1] (Saaty, 2000), a paired comparison matrix was prepared for criteria classes and individual class weights and map scores were worked out. These weights were applied in linear summation equation to obtain a unified weight map containing due weights of all input variables. Finally all the weighted maps were reclassified to arrive the best suitable site location of decentralised treatment plants.

AIm: Considering the importance of diet in the prevention of cellular damage caused by reactive oxygen species which has been implicated for several diseases, this present study was undertaken to evaluvate the in vitro and in vivo antioxidant potential of the ethanolic extract of the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum on 7, 12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene(DmBA)-induced mammary carcinogenesis in Sprague Dawley rats. mETHODS: Ganoderma lucidum extract was tested for in vitro antioxidant and radical scavenging assays, such as(ABTS +) radical cation decolorization assay, DPPH radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical, and superoxide radical scavenging assays. The in vivo antioxidant potentials were analyzed by SOD, CAT, and GPx in plasma, mammary, and liver tissues. RESULTS: In all the in vitro antioxidant and radical scavenging assays the extract exhibited good scavenging activity. In vivo enzymatic antioxidant levels, such as SOD, CAT, and GPx were decreased in DmBA-induced animals. moreover, pretreatment with G. lucidum(500 mg·kg–1bw) to DmBA-induced animals significantly(P ma, mammary, and liver tissues compared to DmBA induced animals. CONCLUSIONS: From these findings, it is suggested that G. lucidum extract could be considered as a potential source of natural antioxidants and can be used as an effective chemopreventive agent against mammary cancer.

Simplified Design Procedure of monopile Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbine in Gujarat, India

OWTs （offshore wind turbines） are currently considered as a reliable source of renewable energy. OWT support structures account for 20%-25% of the capital cost for offshore wind installations. Pre-feasibility studies involving estimation of preliminary dimensions of the wind turbine structure need to be performed for initial costing to arrive at the commercial viability of the project. The main objective of the paper is to obtain preliminary configuration for commercial viability and approximate sizing of the foundation pile. Design equations and nomograms are proposed for quick preliminary design of monopile founded wind turbines located offshore of Gujarat. Parametric studies are carried-out on various configurations of a hollow monopile by varying water depths and properties of sand. A nonlinear static analysis of substructure is performed considering aerodynamic forces and hydrodynamic forces for various structural and soil parameters. The sub-structure design of wind turbine is based on API （American petroleum institute） standards. A simplified design methodology for monopile support structure under extreme loading condition is presented based on multivariable linear regression analysis. The input variables for the regression analysis are hydrodynamic data, angle of internal friction of sand, and the output variables are length and outer diameter of monopile. This simplified methodology is applicable in pre-studies of wind power parks.
